Love this, Dublin Before the Tiger is such a wonderful project.
They are lovely.. but, what I don’t like is that when I was young I’d see photos from the 1950s and think how in the name of god did people live/look like that. Now I see the 1980’s. And the people/streets look the same to me now as the 1950s did when I was a nipper. Is that how it is for mankind or is just that Ireland is stuck in a time warp..?
They look like Dorothea Lange’s pictures of depression-era, dustbowl America.
As it happens, she came to Ireland to do a study on Irish rural life in the ‘50s.
