I, for one, do not think it unfair to wonder why Irish holidaymakers returning from Tenerife are treated as pariahs yet 1500 Brazilians are allowed in without the need to quarantine.
Obviously the country might run low on rashers from the meat-processing plants where these migrants work but I’m sure most people would be prepared to cut back on the bacon sarnies for a while.
Of course if they were PCR tested before and after they came here why can’t the same be applied to Irish people who wish to go on holiday ?

” The Deputy Chief Medical Officer has appealed to anyone who has recently travelled from Brazil to phone any GP or any GP out-of-hours service to arrange a free Covid-19 test. ”

        From RTE on Saturday.
Worrying, don’t you think, considering how concerned everyone is about the new variant in that country ?
Surely all their details would be known on arrival and they could be tracked and traced ?
        Oh,wait …

    I looked up PCR testing/.
Two things struck out that I thought warranted a copy/pasting…

    1. A negative test means you probably did not have COVID-19 at the time of the test.
    2. This service costs £120.

Some people call it something else.
I still call it a scam.

”Your results are back Mr. Murphy.
Statistically speaking you PROBABLY tested ‘negative’, which is positive. for my bank account..
Pay the receptionist on your way out and I’ll see you next Tuesday.”

FF/FG have gone from scandal to scandal for years, with absolutely no feathers in their caps.. and then award themselves pay rises, while the rest of the country goes down the toilet. I suppose theyre tryna get away with what they can, while we can’t currently march.

    2. Junkface

How tone deaf are the Gov’t parties to let this pay rise go ahead? I mean they hardly succeed at anything! Housing crisis is still awful, healthcare system is a mess. Vaccinations are too slow. “Sounds like we need another pay rise for a job poorly done!”

They don’t solve problems, they punt them down the road for later.

What a beautiful day. Bar a little rain tomorrow, it looks like a nice week ahead. Do yourself a big favour folks and steer clear of negativity, the Tommy Cancer posts, get some fresh air and energise your soul. Happy week!

    Are you still here.
    Every week you say cheerio..
But your farewell tour is lasting longer than Reg Dwight’s.
Just say goodbye to the yellow brick road and be done with it already.

That much unhappiness is far too much for one person.
‘Two Tommy Cancers, there’s only Two Tommy Cancers, two Tommy Cannnncers, there’s only two Tommy Cancers…’

        All together now!

Come on under the bridge, we have flagons of Linden Village cider!

Pay no attention to the two dead goats though, no idea what that’s all about?

Are there any news stories about Sinn Féin having to cancel their commemoration of the brave patriot who blew himself on a London bus, killing himself and one another person (an Irishman, as it happens)?

    No?

In that case, I am sorry to have to break the news to Giggidy, Johnny, et al.

    1. Charger Salmons

To be strictly accurate the only person killed was the bomber himself.
Another Irishman who suffered a fractured skull but survived was cleared of any involvement.
He won £200,000 in libel damages after being falsely accused. He died later while detoxing for heroin addiction.
The bus driver was made permanently deaf in the blast.
Remarkably despite this and many other atrocities visited on the mainland by the IRA Irish people living there suffered little discrimination or hostility from their hosts.
