Very sad about the deaths in Mitchelstown. FYI, a Toyota Corolla “Van” looks just like a car.https://t.co/aZFNRnpqZT pic.twitter.com/bALSeXLcw8

It’s a van because its 2 door model with no seats in back
Yep.
Like Van Morrison.
Its a blurry line! The States have strict tariffs about importing utility vehicles like vans to protect their home industries, so to get around this its surprisingly common for foreign manufacturers to ship vans and cars like that Corolla to the US with seating and other fittings in the back. There are production lines dedicated to pulling out and dumping the seats, carpeting and seatbelts etc once they’re through customs. The Subaru BRAT for example was a small pickup shipped with seats in the bed to get around this, only they kept the seats in.
Anyway thats just an interesting tidbit I thought I’d share.
Update. Car / Van has been found.
When I heard the radio reports and request for information that type of “van” did not come to mind when asked to keep an eye out for it.
