He Ain’t Handsy, He’s My Brother

at

Last night.

After a third woman came forward to accuse his brother, New York governor Andrew Cuomo, of inappropriate sexual behavior, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo the host of “Cuomo Prime Time” and known as Fredo after the doomed brother in The Godfather, told his viewers:

“Obviously I am aware of what’s going on with my brother, and obviously I cannot cover it, because he is my brother.”

“Now, of course CNN has to cover it. They have covered it extensively and they will continue to do so.”

“I have always cared very deeply about these issues and profoundly so. There’s a lot of news going on that matters also, so let’s get after that.”

Meanwhile…

…New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration hired a defense attorney to represent the governor and his closest aides in an investigation probing COVID-19 nursing home deaths during the pandemic.

Defense attorney Elkan Abramowitz, a former federal prosecutor, confirmed to The Hill on Monday that he was representing the “Executive Chamber” as the state endures three probes into how it handled reporting coronavirus deaths in nursing homes.

….New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) published a report determining the state should not have excluded the number of residents who died after being taken to hospitals from the nursing home death toll. The change in classification put the number of nursing home deaths at 15,000 from 8,500 as recently as late January.

It wasn’t right when Pussygrabber in Chief did it and it’s not right when Cuomo does it. The Trumpists didn’t care so much when their guy did it though.

    1. Bitnboxy

Therein lies the problem. Some folks just want to look away unless of course it’s a convenience to use this to torpedo one’s enemy. But do they care about the bigger problem- the fact this still goes on? No way.

  2. Bitnboxy

Whether Trump or Cuomo, there appears to be a certain trait and sense of being above everyday basic norms that is unrelated to party affiliation. Funny that.

That’s all well and good V but there are much more important matters of state to discuss.
Doesn’t National Banana Cream Pie Day mean anything to you ?
            March 2nd for goodness sake.
            Priorities and all that …

Oh so it’s identity politics…. yeah that’ll fix it by stereotyping everyone who happens to be in that grouping.

        yawn

I’d say Cynthia Nixon is fuming redder than her hair today –that was as good a debate you’ll get in ‘Merikan elections btw, so see if ye can pick it up. Cynthia could have gone for another three hours no problem

You know Cuomo is on his third consecutive term
plus the three his dad managed btw
plus a massive 25m plus war chest – Johnny’d you know more, but didn’t he take big bucks from the Private Medical Conglomerates and then gave immunity to the NY Nursing Homes
tell ye wha’ ol Mario reared this lad alright

..i supported Cynthia, went her campaign launch in the famous gay icon bar Stonewall Inn.
(the lady who made the first series allegations is actually running for office herself, spoke with her last week…kinda on fence about supporting her)
I work the mayor stuff and city pols in NY/LI not so much Albany….no one cares about nurses here or nursing homes, other than for political games.

There is no space left in US politics for ordinary decents who care about bread and butter issues. The polarisation has led to every politician being required to be an outlandish caricature and bipartisanship reduced to being a quirky historical footnote.

Eh don’t be so lazy with your apathetic disingenuousness

Tulsi Gabbard for one doesn’t fit your profiling

          1. Bitnboxy

One swallow does not a summer make.

Not that I’d call Gabbard a swallow. While I don’t agree that she is some sort of Russian shill, her searing criticism of US military action is often to the benefit of America’s enemies. Pointless taking the high moral ground about US warmongering if one is not prepared to call out the far more egregious actions of other nefarious actors.

My point still stands and I am sorry to say, decidedly genuine.

          not exactly BitBox
Its the need to raise money that decides the issues in US Politics now, and Bread n’Butter doesn’t raise money, well, not the spondodulies they really need to mount a credible campaign
So influence is already present with every Candidate

and when it started that you needed a decent wedge just to contest a primary, that’s when potential candidates – people deciding to enter politics like, decided their Politics, which we saw here ourselves and you’ll see it again
People rocking into the Greens ahead of the Locals and Sinn Fein ahead of the General for an easy lift into the gig

Now in the US, once elected, they need to continue to raise money to get re-elected, from Congress/ Senate, which brings its own complications

There is no room for the local bread and butter issues in America
Its whatever gets you elected – and in the US that’s money

here, tis the Bread n’ Butter, the local Bread and Butter

          1. Bitnboxy

Very true V. Very true indeed.

Super PAC and all that jazz.

Suppose it is like gun “rights”, nowt much will ever change. Don’t get the gun thing. Don’t get the eye-watering sums required to even get on the ticket. Nowt so strange as folk, especially US folk but God, it’s a country I don’t want to see go to the dogs. But alas this is something that very well might change.

          2. V aka Frilly Keane

Having the help of a Super PAC (s) makes you the lucky one here. Like the Golden Child

Since November I’ve taken a good look at ‘Merkican elections
            Up and down Ticket
            The polling and The Counts
I’ve looked into the FEC – ah sweet cheezuz

Anyway – the issue starts and ends with their election apparatus

Dunno if you folly BS.tv – it’s kinda c-list now around here
But last June we featured – via the backdrop segment, a lad called Paul Pate – the Secretary of State for the State of Iowa
Anyway I’ve since been chatting to him – and fingers crossed he’ll be on with us in the near future. One of his team in the State House / GOP Iowa for sure

Anyway, it’s a just saying – might be worth keeping an eye on
            If tis your thing like

as an aside btw, IMO, the whole Trump was robbed, QAnon, Stop the Steal – is all a byproduct – a consequence, of how American votes / runs and conducts it’s elections, all its elections.

          3. Charger Salmons

Do you have a bread and butter pudding recipe V?
I have the fierce munchies tonight.

          4. Nigel

‘as an aside btw, IMO, the whole Trump was robbed, QAnon, Stop the Steal – is all a byproduct – a consequence, of how American votes / runs and conducts it’s elections, all its elections.’

Only in the sense that as the Republicans become more of a minority party the structure of the US political system, rooted in placating slave states, nonethteless keeps them in power – to the extent that they can say and do pretty much anything they want and still keep their fingers round the throat of the US, and Trump has taught thm the full extent of this and they love it.

…media darling’s Cuomo and Gavin in Cali are both in serious trouble, while Fla governor the grim reaper DeSantis and ‘mass murder and ‘whack job’ Noem SD are flying high in pols, both now very viable POTUS candidates…

    1. Bitnboxy

Lol. Kristi “I’ll shoot you in the face” Noem and DeSantis are riding high in the polls among Trumplestillskin GOPers which to be fair is the GOP given the wholesale sell-out to Trump.

Likewise Cuomo and Gavin will simply be replaced by other Dems.

      Context is important.

      1. Bitnboxy

Although there is this crazy part of Queens NY that id insanely pro-Trump. Relatively middle class and pick-ups as far as the eye can see. Somewhat of an aberration in a deep blue state.

  5. Termagant

I thought the modus operandi was to have people planted in the crowd ready to enthusiastically receive kisses and hugs etc
    Shoddy event management
