Now that the morons are gathered together, lock the gates and keep them there for a couple of hours (at least until the novelty wears off and reality begins to kick in) and then fine each and everyone as they exit.

      1. Eoineyo

Hahaha you do realise how ironic you are? A rally by the far right using the guise of mental health to get every half wit out in an effort to keep us all locked down even longer than we already are, where were all these mental health champions when a Garda shot a man with a history of mental health issues in Blanchardstown? I know where they were, they were posting lies and trying to stir hatred because of his skin colour.
If you walk with racists and fascists you are one regardless of how well intentioned you might be, as the saying goes lay with dogs and you’ll get fleas!!

        1. K.Cavan

You have a bizarre attitude to mental health, dear boy. It seems that everyone who doesn’t agree with you is a “half-wit” but those you fetishise have “mental health issues”. The half-wits are protest peacefully, those with mental health issues, which you read about in a newspaper, go about trying to stab people to death, is that what you’re trying to say?

          1. Eoineyo

Do you know what I always find funny? People who believe they are smart trying to create a diversion because they have no intelligent response to a point and instead try to go off in a tangent in an effort to waste (in this case) my time with nonsensical questions or insinuations. The fact you have to use a term like “my dear boy” in a vain effort to portray superiority says it all.

      2. Scundered

It’s very telling how you only mention mental health issues when describing the blanch incident, instead of the extreme violence that he carried out and the resultant riot that called for the murder of Gardai, oh yeah just left that bit out… balance is important you know otherwise nobody will believe anything you say in the future… narrative driven news is cancer.

Facts that cover the full story matter, not just the ones you like.

        1. Eoineyo

Yes facts are very important and I did mention the extreme violence of a man being shot and killed, which in case there is any doubt was the only “extreme” violence.
You are very found of your dramatic effects. The resultant “riots”, “cancer” really? But yah as you say you have a narrative to push, myself I would rather wait for the investigation to finish before forming my opinion, I guess I’m just old fashioned that way. My point remains though despite the efforts to divert it, instead of calling for an investigation to be completed the same people who were organising today’s rally under the guise of mental health were out of the blocks like a old fashioned lynch mob with their “alternative facts” and mental health was the last thing they wanted mentioned because it doesn’t suit their narrative. It’s well worn and used tactic of the far right to latch onto an issue that can be used to legitimatise their hate as they do with homelessness and their calls to “look after our own” (just in case you would like to twist that I’m not saying we should ignore “our own”).
Anyway you have a nice evening and remember wear a mask because the world does revolve around you.

          1. Scundered

My position is the same and always has been, that narrative driven crap fools nobody except yourself, amazingly you’ve translated that as if I was saying the complete opposite. Also if you think the photos above symbolise the “far right” boogeyman, you haven’t lived much. It’s a bunch of people who disagree with you, I disagree with them too, however the lazy labelling is so cringefest.

          2. Eoineyo

Just on point and to again stop the attempts to divert, the far right are not the “bogeyman” they are clear and in the open in several forms like the National Party as one example. I may have also referred to this already but I shall repeat it for your benefit, if you attend a far right rally no matter how good your intentions maybe, you are legitimising them and all they stand for and from looking at the pictures above not many were there to raise concerns about mental health, but maybe I am just seeing things that are not there to promote my narrative, pesky facts and things.

“Long term lockdowns have no basis in science and destroy live” – +1000000000

However, hanging around with a large group of people – even if it is outside – without a mask in the current pandemic…. well played…

    1. K. Cavan

The chances of passing on an encapsulated virus in the open air are far less than in an enclosed area. Even our non-novel Coronviruses cannot really function in such situations. In Spring & Summer, humans get colds from Rhinoviruses, rather than Coronaviruses.

    1. chuckenstein

Yep. Should be particularly embarrassing for anybody looking to make a coherent point.

  3. White Dove

Thanks Broadsheet for covering this. The right to protest is an essential component of democracy.

    1. Chris

      Definition of protestation
: the act of protesting : a solemn declaration or avowal

Hard to pin this definition to the above scenes. Avowal of what? Where is the solemnity? Taliban Tony???

    2. Daisy Chainsaw

Well done for promoting fascists and bigots like Dolores Cahill and Hermannnn Kelly.

      1. K. Cavan

Yes, these people are pretending to protest lockdowns but in reality, well, your reality, they’re clearly trying to overthrow Democracy & place the country, maybe the world, under a vicious dictatorship. It’s impossible to reach any other conclusion. I’m so glad you’re alert.

      1. K. Cavan

My god, I never thought of that. So, the best way to protest something is to sit at home, mumbling to yourself? It sounds a bit counter-intuitive but I’d better not object to your line of “reasoning”, eh? Best say nothing & you’ll spontaneously change your mind.

  4. Geraldo

Nphet is a 100% hse employee committee whose sole purpose is to protect the aforementioned hse from scrutiny

Nothing to do with public health per se.

  5. Bitnboxy

Major kudos to our Gardaí. A very professional and planned policing operation ensuring those out to cause trouble were weeded out from the get-go and prevented from attending while allowing those with children and in family groups to attend the event. A discreet presence was maintained inside Herbert Park and so far things have remained peaceful. While there will be no doubt relief when these people return to their own areas, they also have to be congratulated for keeping the peace inside the park.

Although there were a handful of arrests elsewhere, I am glad that we did not see a repeat of the thug riot of 2 weeks ago and all have to be thanked – both the Gardaí for mounting a carefully planned and considered policing of the event and the attendees for observing the basic tenets of peaceful protest and gathering.

  6. Micko

Saw a video of the protest there in Herbert pk on Twitter.

Lots of people having a nice time listening and singing along to Bob Marley.

    Fuppin fascists.

The fascist grannies are the worst.

    1. Daisy Chainsaw

Useful idiots for the far right. Lie down with racist, anti science scabs and traitors… get their racist, anti science fleas.

      #ProMaskProWorker

          1. Daisy Chainsaw

No need. They’re stopping adrenochrome supplies getting into RTE and stopping the homeless from getting the services they need by attending racist rallies for scabs and traitors.

          2. Micko

            Wardrobe then…

Have you checked the wardrobe? I bet they’re in there.

            #SomeCauseIthinkWillMakeMePopularOnline

          3. Daisy Chainsaw

No alt right scabs anywhere in my bedroom Micko. I doubt I’ll be able to say the same for yours.

          4. Micko

            You could be right.

I’ll check behind my life sized statue of Goebbels and my SS Uniform. It’s a Hugo Boss original don’t ya know.

            #Yawn

      1. K. Cavan

Is everyone who protests a Fascist, Daisy or just people who protest against the government?

      2. K. Cavan

Daisy, you really would’ve been in your element in the US back in the good old days of witch-hunts for reds under the beds & mass paranoia. You’re a woman born in the wrong time. Your bizarre ranting would’ve made sense to people, back then. Then again, you probably think you’re “on the Left”, yourself, right?

        1. Daisy Chainsaw

I’m the red under the bed, rooting out fash traitors and scabs while their apologists rant online.

    2. Scundered

I find it hilarious this trend where if anyone who disagrees with lockdown is considered far right, it’s just very lazy thinking in an attempt to drum up support, but it’s so cringe and likely to backfire for the obvious lie it is.

I wouldn’t support the protestors actions at all and I wish they would wear masks at least, but the notion that they must all be far right is so disingenuous, just look at those photos, what a bunch of Nazis eh? Time for some honesty and less of the cringey lazy labelling.

You can do better, talk to them, listen to them, seek agreement not another war.

      1. Fearganainm

When the organisers are creatures of the far right it’s disingenuous to point to unwitting/undiscerning people who’ve been pulled or who have drifted into their orbit and pass them off as ‘just your average citizens’. Strolling along to a far-right organised event will later be broadcast by the organisers as an indication of support. What you’re doing, in ignoring who the organisers are, is acting as a sewage treatment plant for something very dirty indeed. Surely you’ve better things to be doing with your time than to be trying to polish turds.

        1. Scundered

I don’t agree with the people but what you’re implicating is quite a stretch, just quit with being so disingenuous as it’s fooling nobody.

Just look through the photos. These are ordinary people who disagree with you, and me. Why not try listening to them and find middle ground, instead of just adopting the default divisive narrative which nobody believes anyway, this isn’t about left and right, life isn’t nearly as black/white as you want me to believe.

          1. Fearganainm

Why are you avoiding acknowledging who organised the event?

Given a choice of dandering along to something organised by Old Clem the racist, anti-immigrant, spouter of political crap influenced by foreign, outside interests or, if you want to be a real rebel, organising your own event, which do you think would be less likely to attract legitimate criticism?

“But Old Clem the racist has got a band, and face painting, and a puppet show!” you might cry. In which case there’s something wrong with your head.

It shouldn’t be too difficult to state that events organised by far right creatures are best left unsupported. Unless, of course, you’re a sneaking regarder.

    1. bisted

…the most striking thing from all these demos, protests and pickets is just how few they are…despite golfgate and mediagate…despite the dreadful vaccine rollout…despite business as usual in Dublin Airport and the xmas…solidarity seems to be growing rather than waning…vinceremos!

      1. K. Cavan

The Irish are known across the globe for their revolutionary zeal & radicalism, sure we ran the British Empire out, any day now.

      2. f_lawless

In fairness those photos Broadsheet posted were taken early on. It filled out a good bit more. And that’s despite the unprecedented gardai operation to intercept people going beyond their 5km restrictions ..solidarity is indeed growing but I agree, there’s a lot more way to go yet!

I took a few photos and a video clip if you’re interested to get a better idea of the numbers. Be warned though – images of people gathering together, enjoying themselves in a relaxed manner might be too much to take ;)

What? People having fun in groups? I hate them already, they obviously must be a bunch of Nazis :)

          1. Cú Chulainn

I wasn’t there.. but am having a good hard look at myself tonight.. not only do I recognise more than a couple of people.. I’ve had sex with several people in those photos..

          2. Scundered

Am sure all those ladies holding placards will be just delighted to hear they’re all Nazis or idiots according to a certain few on here, especially crude just after International Womens Day.

Ever try conversing with them to see what you might agree on, instead of this childish public mockery?

  7. Grace

No To Lockdown! No to Vaccines!

What are we supposed to do then to combat the invisible plague within our midst??

Oh that’s right, assume its all a hoax so that China/Lizard people/George Soros/The Government/Bill Gates
can gain world power over everyone.

    Idiots the lot of them
