Former President Mary McAleese has criticised Pope Francis’s renewed ban on same-sex blessings

Do you reckon there’s much of a hope
That McAleese might praise the pope?
While he sticks to a rule
That is unfair and cruel
It’s certain the answer is “nope”.

They’ll tie themselves in knots over this nonsense while Roman clerics have no problem blessing everything from tractors to guns (a beloved ceremony by Roman clerics in Texas).

Needless to say, I assume this Church of Rome blessing-ban edict also extends to any clerics who deign to bless second heterosexual marriages where one of both of the spouses has been divorced. Funny, I don’t here much about this blessing practice (apparently common) which is surely similarly “sinful” according to the RC Church?

Is that the faint whiff of hypocrisy?!

    Go figure.

If I were Mary, I’d find another church to join. Or set one up herself maybe? Something that aligns more with her own beliefs.

She is, for all practical philosophical purposes, an Anglican. Problem is Catholicism to many Nordies is their identity.

Of course the Roman catholic Church isn’t going to bless same-sex marriages. She should move onto her local Imam & start pushing him for the same thing.
