The photo of the (I take it) newly-weds is almost a summary of today’s world:
    – Marriage without being able to have the people you’d like there
    – Surveillance of the newly-weds by the police
    – Destroyed businesses

A candidate for Reeling In The Years

    1. jungleman

I doubt these dopes will feature in reeling in the years. Maybe don’t look back in anger with some Ed Sheehan in the background, at a stretch.

          1. jungleman

Why would they be in this post if not part of the anti-vaxx parade? Perhaps Bodger can clarify..

          2. K. Cavan

I was approaching the tiger enclosure in Dublin Zoo one day, with two older Dublin women just ahead of me. “Look!” said one of the ladies, as we came into view of the magnificent felines, “Lepers!”. Your little missive took me right back to that day.

      1. Tony

Hooray! It’s the weekly Lovely Day Out for the Mentally Vulnerable, proudly supported by the Dublin & District Facebook Scrote Massive. Fair play

        1. K. Cavan

You’ve demolished the whole anti-lockdown position there, Tony, with your devastating logic & application of science. If that wasn’t enough, your wit is so cutting that I’m sure none of those protesters will try that malarkey, ever again. Genius!

          1. Charlie

Tony’s not far off the mark. I’ve been down to the GPO a couple of times to witness the rants and the stench of stupidity, aggression, unemployment and body odour is in full bloom. Still though, it gives them purpose and an opportunity to have their mates validate their intelligence.

        2. K. Cavan

Ah Charlie, did the stench of the hoi polloi offend your poor little delicate nostrils? Oh dear, what a pity, never mind. Have you tried a plastic bag over your head?

          1. Charlie

I’m from a very working class background kid. I’m very familiar with ultra losers when I see ‘em. Sorry to be so frank and spoil your agenda.

    2. Geraldo

Gardai took no action in Galway when a traveller wedding broke covid rules.
      Gardai really are cowards.

        1. Unreal

Travellers are the real problem here?
There’s not much chance of them spreading it beyond their own family group anyway with the likes of your attitude they must encounter daily

          1. GiggidyGoo

They don’t shop in supermarkets then? They don’t walk around towns either? They keep solely to themselves?

          2. Unreal

They’d do well to give you and your likes a wide berth – you’re such a nasty little trucker

          3. K. Cavan

How dare they point out facts about Travellers, nobody wants to hear those racist facts while you’re tying to demonise people. Right? There, there, now.

    1. Geraldo

Since Vradkar became Taoiseach I have learned that GPs are not as intelligent as I once thought.

Sly, smart bottom, yes. Intelligent, no.

      1. Mario

Good man. Did you get 600 points in the Leaving and 6 years in medical school yourself?
        I’d say you did.

        1. Geraldo

So being able to regurgitate facts that you learned makes you intelligent? You have set your bar very low Sir.

Sarcasm, the lowest form of wit.

        2. K. Cavan

Did you bother with the Leaving yourself? You shouldn’t have listened to those teachers. Sometimes taking part is as important as succeeding. Still, you have respect for your betters & you love Varadker, so you’re not devoid of charitable impulses. Good lad.

          1. millie bobby brownie

Not sure you’re in any position to be pontificating on ‘a devastating application of logic and science’, either.

Can I call you Kevin? You strike me as a Kevin.

          2. K. Cavan

You can call me King. I’m not sure you’re in any position to be pontificating about my pontification, given the breadth & scope of Tony’s devastating critique of the type of ingrates who dare go about protesting at fascist rallies full of people & other asorted scum, without a BLM, Aunty Fa or Rainbow flag in sight, I hasten to add.

          1. millie bobby brownie

They’re all a shower of law-breaking twits, most of the time hugely underqualified for the position they hold.

That isn’t unique to Varadkar, the arrogant fop.

  2. Charlie

“Death Jab” on one banner and “Irish Republic” on another is all I needed to work out the average IQ.

    1. K. Cavan

With those abilities, it’s a wonder you haven’t been put in charge of telling the entire population of the world what their IQ is, we could do away with all those pesky tests & stuff.

      1. K. Cavan

“Ratlickers”, you’re a regular Oscar Wilde, aren’t you? Only joking, you’re not.

  3. Kdoc

These people love the Lockdown, contrary to what they say. The protests are driven by far-right groups who have gained so much publicity and increased their membership. They are praying for the restrictions to last until at least the next election.

    1. Lilly

I would characterise the person I know, who has been attending all these lockdown protests, as far-left if anything, for what it’s worth.

      1. Nigel

Unsurprising. There’s been overlap all through the Trump years. You wouldn’t call many of the commenters or posters here who banged on about ‘The Russia Hoax’ right wingers, quite the opposite, but they’re often the ones who smoothly slipped into their version of covid conspiracies that seem to dovetail nicely with those of the right.

      2. Kdoc

Really!. Certainly the leaders of these groups are not in tune with any left ideology e.g. Hermann Kelly, Ben Gilroy, Justin Barrett, Dolores Cahill, Glenn Miller, Gemma O’Doherty et al.

    2. Daisy Chainsaw

If they double their vote at the next election, they still won’t keep their deposits.

    3. K. Cavan

You need to up your dosage, you’re hallucinating & spewing out gibberish. Obviously you might be at that full-time, anyway, in which case you need to lay off the smack for a while?

    1. K. Cavan

Devastating critique of the Anti-Lockdown position, if you’d gone on to a career in Medical Research, the Rona would be done for.

  4. f_lawless

Related: Holocaust survivor, Vera Sharav, delivered a powerful testimony yesterday at Germany’s independent Covid Committee hearing.

    https://youtu.be/r02j7HaKYe8

“The stark lesson from the Holocaust is that whenever doctors join forces with government and deviate from their personal, professional clinical commitment to do no harm to the individual, medicine can then be perverted from being a healing humanitarian profession to a murderous apparatus”

    1. Micko

Well that’s a sobering watch – and after partying last night I probably need it ;)

While I wouldn’t agree with everything she says, some of the similarities are striking. A good watch.

      Thanks for posting.

      1. K. Cavan

Nigel, if you’re Jewish, Shalom. Otherwise can I just point out that you’re not in a position to speak for Jewish people, sitting there with your intact penis. Yes, I can sense the foreskin is strong with you.

        1. Donald McCarthy

Historically, I would just like to point out how important it is for non-Jewish people to never speak up for Jewish people.

      1. K. Cavan

If you’re not careful, Daisy will call you names, too. That’ll put a stop to your gallop.

          1. K. Cavan

Oh Daisy, you’re so much more than that. Don’t undersell yourself, you annoy everyone, especially yourself. All that self-hatred, still, I can easy understand it.

    FREEDOM!

And that is what the Country had exactly on February 8th 2020

Not one of the Candidates / Parties driving these – let’s say FREEDOM hustings got a look in
    Not one

That’s what FREEDOM actually looks like

    As an aside
Far too many of those characters driving the FREEDOM squalls
Actively campaigned against Repeal and Equal Marriage

    So
    FREEDOM – on their terms

I’m always impressed at people who actively participate and Volunteer in any Movement or cause, Volunteer most particularly because as a form of Contribution that is always undervalued, and under estimated

    Hypocrisy Dishonesty
    And actively promoting Inequality

    Not so much

    1. Kdoc

Exactly. When this is over they’ll return to their usual roles: anti EU, anti immigration, anti refugees, anti RTE, anti Tusla … and on and on it goes

    2. K. Cavan

So, you only like campaigners for causes you espouse, personally? Small-minded, subjective support for a broad concept like Freedom is actually support for the exact opposite but you know that, right? Maybe, under the virtue-signalling, you’re actually an Authoritarian, just like the other Fascists on here, nice try, though.

      1. millie bobby brownie

You’re a great man for a bit of finger-pointing and name-calling yourself, Kevin. People in glass houses and so on.

        1. K. Cavan

Oh, you’re against name-calling & finger-pointing, now, Molly? When did that volte-face occur, did you find a friend in Jesus?

          1. millie bobby brownie

Yes, I did. Would you care for some literature?

Might be a bit beyond your cognitive abilities, mind.

Not to worry! I shall pray for you. God bless!

      2. V AKA Frilly Keane

        Ah gawd
        You again –

Authoritarian, just like the other Fascists
Love it. Note it Save it
        D’ye know why?
’cause that puts me firmly and undeniably on the opposite side of anyone who cribs about having to wear a mask on the Luas
Or clean their hands going into the Post Office
Or lines up behind a banner with a noose on it
Or thinks Ireland should have a death penalty
Or says Tuam Babies in Septic Tanks is a pack of lies

Plenty more – I’ve loads – shur’ ye’ve given me loads
I’m stuffed, I don’t know what to do with it all

      https://www.facebook.com/worldwidedemonstration/

This is the wider context to what was happening in Dublin yesterday. A set of coordinated protests in various cities around the world calling for an end to lockdown measures. Some of those marches saw a massive attendance. Unsurprisingly, there has been a near total corporate media blackout or a downplaying of the events. The “Worldwide Demonstration” was initiated by a German group who call themselves “Free citizens of Kassel”.

I translated this off their website:

“We are a loose association of people who work in the context of the Corona measures for more freedom in exercising our rights as defined in the Basic Law.

We believe that the government’s current priorities in favor of physical integrity in connection with a related focus on the infection process around Covid-19 will in the long term lead to more holistic harm than good for all people.

Aside from the aforementioned goal, we as a group have no other political agenda and are not affiliated with any political party.”

You can continue to maintain that this is really all part of some international ‘far-right’ conspiracy to trick people into protesting in order to maintain your own narrative, but maybe its time to consider that there actually are people from a whole different range of political persuasions who have witnessed and experienced the extreme negative impact of these continued restrictive measures and who believe that our societies are collectively on a very dangerous path unless enough of us start to show dissent and demand a different approach.

        1. millie bobby brownie

I caught the reference! I refer you to the poem Antarctica by Derek Mahon, which was my reference. It’s a favourite of mine.

          1. millie bobby brownie

It really is a lovely poem. I studied Derek Mahon for the LC and it was the beginning of a love affair with poetry. His poems are wonderful.

        2. Micko

          Hey!

My vid was all about Oates!!

Maybe not as classy as Millies – but Oats all the same ! ;)
