Imagine the shock in Barnard Castle of being in the news twice in one year, they must all need counseling at this stage given the pressure that now comes with living there

What’s the rationale in not vaccinating teachers and guards ahead of the general public? Seems like more political suicide.

definitely something dodgy going on here

my theory is they’re adjusting the angle of the goalposts because they don’t have the pipeline they’ve been promising, it’s a way to obfuscate

how so? well you take out clear and easy to track identities like “Garda” or “Special Needs Teacher” and the general public loses the ability to measure what they are up to…

I’d have money on expect more delays

Meanwhile, in NI anyone over the age of 45 is now automatically guaranteed two vaccines doses at a time and place of their choosing bookable online.
Ireland is about 30 years behind at the moment.
        A national humiliation.

Why should they be treated any differently ?
A supermarket check-out worker or petrol station cashier meet far more people in a day than cops or teachers.
What is remarkable is that the Irish government hasn’t had a clearly-defined plan from the outset and appear to be making it up as they’re going along.
30 million vaccines ago Boris’s team set out a clear plan as to who would be jabbed and when – and the police and teachers were given short shrift when they suggested they were special.
That was back in January – it’s April Fool’s Day tomorrow and the argument is still going on here ?

      Deflection and distraction

Donnelly promised 1 million vaccine doses to be delivered next week. Martin mumbled 230,000 at yesterday’s press conference.

Vaccines are not coming at the pace promised, the 80% vaccinated date has slipped out by a month as well.

We are being royally duped and shafted.

      1. Cian

The problem is at EU level getting vaccines. Once the vaccines arrive in Ireland they get into people’s arms quickly.

We vaccinated 77,000 people in the last three days. The top 3 days since rollout began.

        1. Junkface

I’m glad to see some improvements on the vaccine rollout. Keep it up. Normal life is waiting at the end of the tunnel. I’m so glad its Spring too.

        2. ReproBertie

Despite Northern Ireland having a 3 week head start, and Ireland being screwed over on supply by both AstraZeneca and Pfizer and then being hamstrung by the temporary suspension of Astra Zeneca usage, Ireland has administered as many vaccine doses as Northern Ireland and the numbers are increasing.

” We are being royally duped and shafted.”
Yup, I’ve been telling y’all that since the start of the year.
They have you exactly where they want you – being grateful for small mercies and carrying the can for their blind faith in the inept EU vaccine procurement programme.
I’m afraid you only have yourselves to blame.
Oct 2nd 2009 was the day the Irish people signalled to the world that it had given up on all resistance.
        Morto.
Not to worry though – the IRA will be running the place after the next election.
        That’ll be fun.

        Heh x begorrah.

    Talking of a beacon ..
The Times leads on something I’ve reported on here for a long time – Blighty is a shining light for diversity.
The Commission on Racial and Ethnic Disparities found that the success of ethnic minorities in education and commerce should be a template for other white majority countries.
    Such as Ireland.

    1. GiggidyGoo

Obviously one of the bulbs from that shining light doesn’t agree, and has high-tailed it to a crappy bedsit in Cork, to avoid taking the knee.

Yes most diverse UK government ever, by far… turns out surface diversity doesn’t bring about actual economic/political change, whouda thunk that!

Looking forward to having a more diverse 1%… what could go wrong…

Camels versus donkeys ended in a draw and an 11th game without a win for Kenny’s Ireland.
    Luxembourg, Qatar ?
Ireland need to become giant-killers and quickly.
Which is why a friendly against the Faroe Islands or Rockall Rovers should be organised immediately by the FAI.

As a confidence booster, rumour has it they’ll play the England rugby team in a game of rugger. Venue still to be decided.

Nice photo of our favourite star in the Star. And warm out yesterday which was nice. Sadly I am feeling glum as my foul-weather climate friends are backsliding on our shared vision of doom. Covid surprised us but we were hardly alone in that and our first response was to feel it was an unnecessary distraction from the more urgent business of collapse and extinction. But seems there is an upside to a virus which has filled graveyards around the world! The reduction in aviation and industrial emissions offered an unexpected breathing space with people in distant cities enjoying strange views of distant snow-capped mountains, and views of beautiful things closer to home emerging from years of dirty skies. People enjoyed this as they enjoyed baking things and making things at home and thinking about things they had hitherto ignored. Things like how we might live better on our shared blue bauble. Trump left the stage, the zeitgest changed and we now swim in uncharted waters. I remain a nihilist but am not too proud to admit that my deplorable simian tribe might endure for a little while yet.

New polling data in the UK show dreadful numbers for Labour leader Sir Kneel-a-lot with the blond bomber 19% more popular in working class communities.
Labour has distastrously moved its core support from people who take a shower after work to those who have one before they go to work.
Hopes of Labour capitalising on Covid have evaporated with the stunning success of the Boris vaccine programme.
The BOGOF Taoisigh can only read the figures and weep.

-The “Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act” NY S854 (21R) / NY A1248 (21R) cleared the Assembly and Senate after hours of debate on the bill’s proposed regulatory structure, public safety and health implications. It now awaits final approval from Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who has said he looks forward “to signing this legislation into law.-
