Asymptomatic Nervous System

at

This morning/afternoon.

Covid-19 Testing Centre, Finglas, Dublin.

One of three new walk-in Covid-19 testing centres for asymptomatic people (exhibiting no symptoms) that have opened today in various locations around Ireland where there is a ‘high rate of coronavirus infections’.

Ah the old “Asymptomatic Covid Sufferers”

Or as we used to call them – “Healthy People” :)

      1. Micko

        Yes yes.

        Me stupid. You smart.

We’ve been through all this before. You’re very smart. Well done.

        Oh wait…

        From the BMJ Dec 2020

“ It’s also unclear to what extent people with no symptoms transmit SARS-CoV-2. The only test for live virus is viral culture. PCR and lateral flow tests do not distinguish live virus. No test of infection or infectiousness is currently available for routine use. As things stand, a person who tests positive with any kind of test may or may not have an active infection with live virus, and may or may not be infectious.”

So emmm yeah… we don’t know.

          1. Micko

            Emmm…

Is calling someone a fool, not an assertion of your superior intelligence? Do you not have to be better informed to recognise someone else’s ignorance?

I thought that would be the default assumption.

And you don’t need to be qualified to read and understand something.

You just need to know Englush…

            Awww…Damn it!!! ;)

April Fools Day is the one day of the year I give trolling a swing.

Honestly, where I work, I’m not medical staff, I’m clinical so I listen to those around me and mould those things, the things I read and my own common sense into a hodgepodge of something resembling ‘best practice’. It’s why I have no problem wearing masks, keeping my distance, washing my hands etc but have very little faith in guidance from the government.

‘Asymptomatic’ to me is both a blessing and a curse, the former because the person isn’t suffering, the latter because they could Could pass it on. It may be unlikely, but it’s not 0%. Most transmission is probably due to people who have not shown symptoms or who won’t show symptoms interacting with others. I don’t like to think of people being ignorant and selfish enough to be leaking COVID out of their face and wilfully rubbing it on others but I’m sure amongst the millions of Irish people going around, there are a few.

I do genuinely wish you good health, Micko. I hope you and your family have been lucky during this pandemic and, if not, that there are better days ahead.

          3. Micko

Fair enough. And you too Paul.

Fortunately, my family and most of my close pals have had rona.

            We all were fine thankfully.

It is tremendously important for the Asymptomatic to be identified during a pandemic and I admire any of them taking the test, it is to be encouraged and it is a selfless display of civic duty.

Please remember that one of the main reasons AIDS spread so well in the gay community was the long term Asymptomatic nature of the illness. It allowed infected people to innocently spread the disease and kill far, far too many. The Gay community were encouraged to and took AIDS tests and it was a major factor in stopping the spread of AIDS.

Once identified as having Asymptomatic Covid virus these fellow citizens can self isolate for a few days, cut the spread and prevent the possible death and hospitalisation of family members, friends and colleagues.

That’s Stunning & Brave, Joe, bravo! You clearly have No Fear, which matches your level of Virology knowledge but you’re not gonna let that hold you back, are you? No, Joe, you’re prepared to give, freely, of your ignorance. Listen Joe, asymptomatic transmission is like driving into town without getting into the car, it simply can’t be done. How’s things in the HSE, these days, anyway?

      2. f_lawless

Joe you sound almost like a government messenger. That’s not a valid comparison to make. AIDS isn’t a respiratory virus of course

Here’s a clip from the horses mouth: political weather vane, Tony Fauci, early on in the pandemic before the the science got politicised and SARS-Cov-2 took on properties never observed before in the history of all known respiratory viruses.

        https://twitter.com/AllysonPollock/status/1329408055335940098

“But the one thing historically people need to realise is that even if there is some asymptomatic transmission, in all the history of respiratory viruses of any type, asymptomatic transmission has never been the driver of outbreaks. The driver of outbreaks is always a symptomatic person. Even if there’s a rare asymptomatic person that might transmit, an epidemic is not driven by asymptomatic carriers.”

All these restrictive measures – mandatory masks, blanket lockdowns of the healthy, etc all hang on asymptomatic transmission. Without AS having been hyped into something way more significant than it really is, the justification for the measures wouldn’t be there. That’s the insidious nature of this wrong-headed approach.

I asked herself about this madness the other night (Herself is a rock of sense). She told me that healthy people with nothing wrong with them are getting tested so they can (without fear of carrying the deadly plague) go and see elderly parents etc.
It’s like when single people use to go and get an AIDS test so they could embark on a unfettered sex life with a new partner. This time around you’re getting tested so you can have a cup of tea with your parents whilst idly fingering the HobNobs and fondly remembering the time you had exploratory sex with Sally from number 127 in the box room. Before having a row with your dad cleaning the gutters from his stairlift and storming out.

Things look very tents, there, on the Frontline. They couldn’t have stretched to a couple of Frontline Caravans, no? It’s a little-known fact that the Sars02 virus is unique in it’s organizational ability. It can sit in your Nasal Pharynx, looking out through your pores, if it sees another unmasked person within 2 metres, it can send a Frontline commando squad of specially-trained viruses to abseil out of your nostrils & up the other person’s nostrils on ropes of snot & that’s how Asymptomatic Transmission happens, on the Frontline. I’ve no idea why HKU1, NL65 & other Coronaviruses haven’t followed suit, they have to irritate the Upper Respiratory Tract, causing the virions that have just oozed from burst-open cells to be ejected by coughing & sneezing, then wait to hitch a ride on the next sucker. Those Frontline SAS (Sars Air Service) viruses are very effective, because 2.5% of our hospital beds are currently Overflowing With Covid Victims On The Frontline & in mid-January it was even worse, with almost 17% of our total hospital beds Overflowing With Covid Victims On The Frontline. It’s Stunning & Brave the way our Frontline Workers make time to do Frontline TikTok dance routines, in a period when our Frontline Health Workers have had to face the lowest hospital bed occupancy rates ever, on the Frontline. There’s never been a Frontline Deadly Virus On Ropes Of Snot Pandemic to compare with this, on the Frontline. This is King Cavan, reporting from the Finglas Frontline, keeping a beady eye out for viruses abseiling on ropes of snot, on the Frontline…

I love it when a woman passes by in front of me and in her slipstream I get a hint of her perfume. Recently, though, I’ve been thinking: if I can smell her perfume, I can inhale whatever virus she has just exhaled.

      1. K. Cavan

Correct, SB, you need to go live on a desert island, immediately. Alternatively, stich or staple your nostrils closed.

      All the people
      So many people
They all go hand in hand
      Hand in hand through their

Imagine the response from the state and health authorities if we have an actual REAL pandemic to deal with some day.

    1. K. Cavan

+100% A primary school playground at break-time? Downtown Tokyo with Godzilla & King Kong having a wrestle? Woodlice when you lift the flowerpot on the patio? The deck of The Titanic? Dublin City Coucil employees when someone utters the word “work”? Panic by The Smiths? Christ, it would be a clusterf*cked cluster of clusterf*cks.

New job listing on UK government website, posted two days ago: https://findajob.dwp.gov.uk/details/5585948

“The role is a senior leadership role within the NHS Communications team..
..You will primarily be responsible for delivering a communications strategy to support the expansion of asymptomatic testing, that normalises testing as part of everyday life
..Pay rate: Up to £750 per day”

Asymptomatic testing in the community set to become normailsed as a part of everyday life? Are the asymptomatic test centres popping up in Ireland part of the same coordinated initiative? The pandemic will never be declared over as long as there’s widespread community testing of asymptomatic people.

    1. Cian

      how so?
A pandemic is an epidemic of an infectious disease that has spread across a large region, for instance multiple continents or worldwide, affecting a substantial number of people.

FYI an epidemic is defined as:
An epidemic is the rapid spread of disease to a large number of people in a given population within a short period of time.

SARS-Covid2 / Covid ticks those boxes.

      1. benblack

By those criteria, the annual flu, or common cold, should be classified as a pandemic.

Tobacco kills more people worldwide, in a year, than this pesky virus could in ten. (Citation needed)

Yet, tobacco is still sold legally in all countries. Why?

No lockdown, no prohibition, no ban – treated as a tax cow.

The government does not care about saving lives, otherwise, tobacco would be banned.

        More to see here.

Coombe specialist STOLE vaccines and took them home for his family. Theft. Like the rest of them who commandeered vaccines for their own personal use. Pure theft. I look forward to the court cases. Somehow I think Ill be waiting a while.

  6. GiggidyGoo

40% no shows at Citywest for vaccines yesterday.
(because they were on other venue lists?)
    Plenty of spares then.
