This morning.

Via On The Ditch:

Taoiseach Micheál Martin breached Covid-19 public health guidelines by attending an indoor event held in honour of his late father in Cork.

While at the event Martin told an attending garda to take off her face mask for a photo opportunity.

The event at Blackpool’s Glen Boxing Club went ahead when “no organised indoor gatherings should take place” under Ireland’s level-three Covid restrictions. The event lasted 45 minutes and was attended by at least 12 people.

Good times.

It’s OK, it’s OK.. He was top of the list at the Beacon for his free jab.. He’s good!

But, but…pandemic? No? Oh I see. It’s a pandemic for the proles, but it’s just the flu for the top brass. Got it. And still most people aren’t asking questions. Can’t wait to see the media NOT make a big deal out of this. Quick mea culpa from Martin and then back to pushing the ‘deadly pandemic’ narrative.

How will he weather this? I’d say Jim O’Callaghan can’t believe his luck. It has to be curtains for the Taoiseach now – surely?

“Jim O’Callaghan”… can somebody explain why anybody would vote of him, he’s literally the only person in FF with less charisma than MM, which I suppose is some kind of achievement…

        That’s only around here ce

don’t get me wrong, I’m very fond of Jim
and think he’d be great for Fianna Fail
but the eFFers are dead in Dublin, well buried n’all
and Jim will do well to even hang on there in DBS

Michael McGrath is the most likely to topple MMartin
        at this stage
        f’em anyway

I’m not sure if he has any political opinions – I don’t think I’ve ever heard him express one. Why is his potential leadership such a fascination to the media…. am I’m missing something, Sharry and himself function as ministers for the opposition in government.

I agree about MMcG, especially since DoB hasn’t managed to do anything in housing. Actually MMcG and Paschal seem to be be the only functioning part of government.

Can anybody see FF getting 20 seats in the next election?

I still think with McGrath 20-25 max – although while not the most charismatic of people, he has a track record of competence… good luck to him in Health, he’ll need it.

Calleary ruin it for everybody by being the first Irish politician to actually do the right thing! It could have all be very different… maybe

As oppose to your incessant whinging when an anti restriction protest takes place.

            You’re a contrarion.

Taoiseach instructs Garda to remove mask (in breach of covid regulations) for a photo shoot. Maybe he will join Varadkar in the ‘Taoiseach’ enquiries pigeon hole at Garda HQ. If not, why not?

And, actually, a Garda in attendance. Shouldn’t she have produced her notebook, took names and issued fines? I’m sure she knows who was there, not least Michilín

Since we’ve outsourced the running of the country/pandemic, there’s not much for Martin to do. If he’s not going to be out & about, presenting cups to people for stuff, what’s the point of even having a Taoiseach? He really should’ve said “take off your mask” in a Barry White voice, though, then the Legion of Womanists could’ve got all outraged & stuff & the production of colum inches in the meeja would’ve soared to unprecedented heights that we’ve never before experienced.

  8. Praetorian

It now turns out your one he told to take the mask off is a seving Garda who travelled from Dungarvan,Waterford to Blackpool,Cork….160km round trip.

    selective rules.
