Charles Michel missed a great opportunity to push Ursula forward.
These items of protocol are never an accident – so making space for her would have sent an equally clear signal back!

    Should have sat down faster
    Early bird gets the chair
Regardless, the Council is made up of heads of state and yer man there, the Commission are just the executive hands of the Council, so if someone’s going to be talking to Erdogan I don’t see why it should be the commissioner over the chair of the council on which we have actual representation
    “But she’s a woman!”
    No she’s not, she’s a politician

Great point, yes, well said Terma.

I’ll take my +1 from the earlier comment above, and move it here :)

‘now keep on turning a blind eye to us killing off the kurds, won’t you?’

Why anyone is sitting down – whether on a sofa or a chair – with a leader who is systematically dismantling a democracy is beyond me.

Sanctions, not sit downs are required.

Turkey just left the Council of Europe’s Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence.
