Good to see that some Brits are complaining about the OTT coverage of the 99yo inbred whose death is of absolutely zero consequence to people. The BS veneration of so-called royals tells you that there is plenty wrong in the world. The brainwashing of people is sad.

Restricted to 30 people in line with Covid restrictions.Boris has waived tradition by not attending to allow more family members to participate.
Was the ‘ Storey ‘ reference deliberate ? If so huzzah !

Worked in an office around the time of that advert where the receptionist was called Nicole and her oul fella did our deliveries. He could never understand why we called him ‘Papa’ in a French accent.

We have Shebeens, they have underground restaurants….some anthropology/sociology student will write a PhD on this

I was thinking more along the lines of a recipe book…
Replete with illicit off the menu 9 euro meals and cocktails.
        Nom de plume… Mary Pickford.

      Man, I miss eating out…

A pal of mine is an ex-chef.

He and his girlfriend came over and cooked for us over Easter. His way to say thank you for a project I was helping him with.

Was amazing. Like we were back eating out. We’re still talking about it. Obv ;)

        1. Micko

          Ah jeasus

The amount of times I’ve outed myself here over the last year…

          I think it’s a compulsion now ;)

      1. Charger Salmons

A bit longer to wait yet for that nosebag Micko.
Pubs, restaurants and shops are re-opening in Blighty tomorrow.
In Ireland only the 5km travel rule is being relaxed.
But at least ‘ the EU has our backs ‘™

I’ve a sneaking feeling the Irish gov are playing the “let’s see what happens in the UK” game.

Because there’s no way the Irish gov could possibly make a decision that goes against the grain on their own. ;)

          1. Charger Salmons

            ‘Twas ever thus Micko.
Normally Ireland has to wait for instructions from Head Office but the EU is missing in action at the moment.
So Paddy reverts to casting longing glances at the mainland and hoping the least infected country in Europe will give them a clue of what to do.
Ireland deserves better than the crowd of shysters and NPHET fanboys currently running the show.

        1. Micko

          Oooh.

          I’ve actually never been Lilly.

But I tell ya, it’s on my list once all this stuff is over.

          As are lots of places.

Hopefully we’ll see a massive resurgence in people out and about spending!

Congratulations to Rachel Blackmore. Gracious , calm , superb and a joy to watch on her Grand National historic win.

Since when is 11/1 considered a hiding for the Bookies
And that was the closing price

Even the placed horses left money in their pockets

    Bookies get battering my pom-poms

Mind you with the amount of lads gloating they had her at that price and higher
How it didn’t get marked down to evens or shorter would make you wonder
    In fairness
Certainly enough for the Turf Club old boys to have a snoop

    1. ce

Yeah compared to the hiding some of them likely took on the Irish National…

What a few months for her, total skill, total class

I think you’re on the money there

dunno if Pulmicort inhalers will in the end prove to be “the answer” but it’s surely gonna be something very similar in an self-administered inhaler or pill form

because this injection deployment shtshow is never ever ever gonna work out, seems to me that we’re just p___ing in the wind

“During the past two weeks, according to data compiled daily by UNICEF, fewer than 2 million COVAX doses in total were cleared for shipment to 92 countries in the developing world — the same amount injected in Britain alone…..one in four people in rich countries had received a vaccine, only one in 500 people in poorer countries had gotten a dose”

“seems to me that we’re just p___ing in the wind” seems to me that travel into the EU is going to get a lot harder/impossible unless you are “invited” or wash up on the shore

I once had the worlds greatest dystopian movie collection of all time…
Now I have all the time in the world to watch it…
Alas, collective consciousness has put a stop to all that…

          2. Micko

Indeed. I like me a bit of dystopia. Maybe a bit too much ;)

I once read an article (can’t remember where) that put forward the idea that a large part of our media was obsessed with the end of the world.

They postulated it’s the reason so much of our film and TV shows are based around negative outcomes and plots with zombie / horror / virus outbreaks etc

Where in the 60’s -80’s, things were much more optimistic about the future (in general anyway)

Space shows about a hopeful future, like Star Trek etc. I’d also note that modern Star Trek is set in a weird futuristic and dystopian society. It’s brutal and not very hopeful at all.

Maybe it’s the reason that people have become obsessed with Covid. And that hopefully means we will see a resurgence of hope after this mess goes.

          well

          imagine a course of tabs

and a handheld scanner that can detect if you’ve been taking them

We haven’t had a Top Tory Toff poll for a while on here.
But two opinion polls out this weekend give the Tories the exact same lead of 9% over Labour – the largest Conservative lead since May 2020

    Con 45%
    Labour 36%
    Lib Dem 6%
    Greens 4%

Johnson’s net approval rating is up by +3. And on the question of best Prime Minister Johnson leads Sir Kneel-a-lot by 13 pts

Approval of the government pandemic handling is net positive for the first time since May 2020 (+8)

The BOGOF Taoisigh can only read those approval numbers and weep.

Lib Dems will get swallowed by the Greens by the next election, not in terms of seats but in terms of precentage? That would worth a punt at the bookies …

    Jabtastic™
The UK has administered a new record daily number of second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine as the jabs rollout continues to run at a rate of nearly three million a week despite forecasts of a shortfall in supply over April.

Another 475,230 second doses were reported on Sunday – the third day in a row that the figure has beaten its previous record.

7,466,540 or 11.2% of the total population has now been fully vaccinated.

32,121,353 people, nearly half the total population, has received a single jab.

Take a bow Boris and the crack team of vaxxers he has organized.

“People who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 may be allowed to skip hotel quarantine if a digital vaccine certification is introduced, the Transport Minister has said.”

    https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-40263512.html

As predicted, vaccine passports are the endgame to the obvious ruse of mandatory quarantines and country red lists. And we seem to be ploughing ahead even as the narrative surrounding the passports is getting ever more incoherent

‘ “There’s still some concern with the health authorities that even post-vaccination, people may be transmissible, so they are cautious around that,” he said.

However, he said as Europe adapts “potentially a digital certificate in terms of whether someone is vaccinated, that might be another variation in terms of how [mandatory quarantine] is applied.” ‘

    Eh, say what now?

‘The country (Israel) is to be removed from the list due to its successful vaccination programme which seems to be delivering a significant reduction in transmission of the virus, he said.’

A drop-off in Covid cases had been starting to occur in countries around the world before any vaccination programmes had time to have an effect. Various countries with comparatively little vaccine roll-out have seen a similar reduction in cases to those countries with higher vaccine roll out. What about the seasonal effect? Natural herd immunity?

Even if the vaccines do reduce transmission somewhat, digital vaccine passports are in no way a viable way to micro-manage the spread of so called ‘variants of concern’ – nor was hotel quarantining and closing off borders for that matter. It’s a fool’s errand.

It’s quite something to behold the spinelessness of politicians such as Ryan – and all the rest of them – regurgitating these politicised narratives to the public as they willingly try to guide us down the path towards a totalitarian tech dystopia, all the while telling us it’s for our own good.
