Should we open a book on how many days The Star can hold back the ‘psycho gulls attack’ front page..?

You’d think they’d have found one wearing a black armband (wingband?) as a mark of respect by now!

Imelda morphing into Chrissie Hynde there.
A matron Saint for ireland you say, Sheila no gigs.
Strike that… , bodger your in luck, keep your diary free Tue 15 Jun 2021, 20:30 Barcelona.

    Thanks Ursula, you’re a legend.

54% of Brits would now vote to stay out of the EU while 46% would vote to re-join.
1 in 5 Remainers have flipped to back Brexit.
62% of all voters say vaccines have been better because of Brexit.

Meanwhile anyone over the age of 45 in England can now apply for a vaccine appointment online.
And the rate of refusal of the AZ vaccine has been statistically miniscule.
The EU has blundered from one crisis to another over vaccines.

Ah Reuters, the well known right wing fake news agency.

      I don’t believe a word they say.

Sure, I heard everyone in Sweden is dead.

      ;)

      1. U N M U T U A L

“Sweden’s government and health authority have conceded they failed to protect Sweden’s elderly.. .”
It seems this was the only pandemic response that ireland adopted from Sweden…
I’m sure it will take a court case or two, to get a similar admission from our lot.

      2. Micko

        So there you have it.

Two completely different news agencies reporting completely different news. Completely different numbers for Sweden’s excess mortality.

From two well respected publications. One of them is either wrong or lying.

When faced with completely opposing information, surely anyone could see why someone could end up thinking the “other side” is wrong and full of morons / monsters.

It’s hard to know which is true.

But we should prob all give each other a break.

With so much misinformation on both sides – it’s hard to know what’s what.

Just out of curiously- does anyone know what our own excess mortality has been?

          Happy to help.

And for what it’s worth; my preferred response to seeing conflicting information across different sources is to apply some of my critical thinking skills and come to my own conclusions, which I understand I have in common with many covid skeptics. Funny old world.

          1. Micko

            Cheers.

            And agreed

Although in my case I have a healthy application of critical thinking along with an (probably) unhealthy dose of cynicism.

But, it’s what got me where I am – God damn it!!! ;)

Some might think that’s a good thing.

In fairness, there’s one “new” voice here who has taken it upon themselves to single-handedly carry the comment sections this week. In/around 25% of comments on most threads it looks like. A real commitment.

Something familiar about them that I can’t put my finger on.

I’ll presume it’s me. Not sure how to prove it but I’m genuinely new here. Long time browser, but after the last year or so I decided to finally get involved. BS does its best to at least allow a discussion, and always has from my perspective. I’m sure in time I’ll calm down and eventually become as sluggish as some in here. Yours truly, exiled in North County Dublin.
If it’s not me, burn after reading.

Not need to justify yourself old sport.
Like most internet forums this one has a small clique of bottom-sniffers who mistakenly think longevity or post count somehow confers on them special status from which to deliver portentious drivel.
They hate the new or discordant voice because it upsets their cosy groupthink.
I like to put it about amongst this gaggle of gombeens and a few have wilted at the first challenge and disappeared.
Your arrival is merely a continuation of the circle of life – the delicate wallflowers are dead-headed and lopped to make way for fresh growth.
No-one is irreplaceable and those who storm off in a huff barely cause a ripple.
They take this internet malarkey far too seriously.

          1. Papi

*I like to put it about*
Translation, I’m a racist bigot who’s more obsessed with the internet than every other person here combined.
            Fixed that for ya, racist.

BEER IN THE RAIN Bring your own umbrella and you needn’t tip the barmaid, just smile and make her day.
