Warnings about the Big Lie from people telling you covid is a hoax.

(Oh, little misinformation rodents appropriating the White Rose – obscene.)

    1. K. Cavan

What’s “Covid”, Nigel? I’m not expecting a scientific definition, after all, it’s not a scientific or medical term & anyway you appear to have not a clue about the Science you claim to follow, so what do YOU mean when you use the term? Do you reckon you can “catch” or “spread” Covid-19 & that “cases of Covid” can be detected with PCR or Lateral Flow tests? You appear to be happy to blather on, aware that you know absolutely nothing about the subject you’re addressing. I genuinely admire the brass neck on you.

      1. Nigel

You don’t think people can catch and spread covid-19? Or that tests can detect if you have caught covid-19? You’ve broken quite sharply with consensus reality, haven’t you?

Does anyone know if there’s an easy way to block a website on Chrome? Like for example if you used to find a website interesting and informative, but now find it weird and annoying, but visit by force of habit anyway? I’ve tried the will power extension, but it seems faulty.

    1. K. Cavan

Yes, there is such an option on all browsers, I use it to block the BBC, Guardian, CNN, all the Fake News sites. It’s password-activated, so if I want a laugh I can type that in and over-ride the block. I’m not about to give you a tutorial thoug

The pandemic was created to introduce Vaccine passports? The vaccine passports that have been in existence since the 1930?

Seriously Bodger, get some professional help. You’re about 2 articles shy of putting on your your horned fur hat and storming the Dáil!

    1. Cui Bono?

You’re completely wrong. These are not the same thing.

Have you ever used a vaccine passport to enter a shop to buy groceries or go to the cinema?

Have you not seen what’s happening in Israel?

It’s a Digital ID system where your vaccine status will be just one of its functions.

      1. Daisy Chainsaw

You’re seriously using a racist apartheid state like Israel as an example? Find a proper country and come back to me.

      2. Redundant Proofreaders Society

Anyone who has received the Yellow Fever jab has carried a vaccine passport, with manufacturer, batch details and date. It’s mandatory to display when entering countries when your departure country is one where the disease is prevalent.
Displaying Covid-19 vaccination evidence is no different.
        Digitising it is no different.

In all honesty now, the YF certificate is different. Mine is a ruffled up aul thing, with the details scribbled on in biro and a barely legible–though official looking nevertheless stamp on it. The certificate is used at border control only. In addition, the YF vaccine has incredibly strong effectiveness and a single shot likely gives a lifetime of protection.

The ‘Green Certificate’ proposals as sketched are much more far-reaching, and the Irish SI linked to at another post here indicates that the acceptance criteria for Ireland include a specified number of doses administered a specified number of days apart, by a specific health authority.

Have YOU got a vaccine passport, Daisy? Have any of your friends got? Personally, I don’t know anyone with a Digital Passport of any kind. Why, given your “lived experience” of these passports, are there so many stories appearing in the media about their “Introduction”? Clearly, you “know” something that, apparently, nobody else does. Weird, eh?

      1. Daisy Chainsaw

Not yet for Covid, but I had one for travelling to Asia when I was younger as proof I had jabs done and had malaria tablets to take each week for 6 weeks. It was no big deal.

horned fur hats need to be reclaimed by the masses… we can’t let them become taboo… just saying

      tiki torches too…

    Heard about these

Was a lad with mental health issues putting them all over town…poor fella :(

    1. Cui Bono?

I think the mental health issue is the global hysteria over a virus with an average IFR of only 0.15% – slightly worse than the flu.

      1. Cian

        IFR is slightly higher:

In Europe the death rate is 980,930 deaths out of 43,019,319 cases. This is an IFR of 2.3%

        South America 2.7%
        Africa 2.6%
        Europe 2.3%
        North America 2.3%
        Oceania 1.9%
        Asia 1.4%

        1. D

You’re normally more on the ball. You’ve confused IFR and CFR.

Also it’s unusual to call a figure of 2.3% which you have arrived at ‘slightly higher’ unless you are being sarcastic – it’s more than 10 times higher than the 0.16% figure head the ball there has given. You can see how off the 0.16% figure is if you use the total population of the USA as 330mln and use the total dead as 584k, the only way to get 0.16% is to assume everybody in the US has been infected once. You can do this with various other countries to make total nonsense of that 0.16% figure.

Also it’s a bit simple minded to use these overall rates for something known to target the elderly progressively, as the most prevalent strain of the virus does.

    2. Nigel

Solid graphic design chops, though, except for the last one which is too internet meme-ish.

Saints, Scholars, and Schizophrenics: Mental Illness in Rural Ireland by Nancy Scheper Hughes is an interesting outsiders look at that question.

      1. Donald McCarthy

She suggests depletion of the gene pool by waves of emigration contributed to our problems.

        1. alickdouglas

They did quite literally almost burn her on a pyre when she showed up again years later… (ok, not quite, but not far off).

    2. Junkface

It’s happening in many countries. The education systems started going downhill quite a few years ago. I expect it from the USA and UK, but Ireland is catching up. That and the modern social media age and literacy levels. Most people I know are able to spot completely fake information, but many people cannot cross reference, or know many trustworthy journalists. Saying that, journalism has fallen off a cliff since 2013 or so, because of the click bait model, the easiest way for them to survive. So journalistic principles were binned in favor of outrage pieces for more cash. Politicians are also reading clickbait and outrage pieces for years so their judgment is tainted. Our current politicians have proven themselves to be incapable of competently doing their jobs, when the country needed them most.

Apparently, these loons find each other on social media and build echo chambers so they don’t have to face up to a world full of blurred lines and grey areas. Now I’m worried that I’ve found them, or they’ve found me. (Reaches for tinfoil hat, and spliff)

  6. Micko

Clearly these White Rose lads are a little cracked.

But that 4th poster does make a good point. What’s the point of the vaccine passports if the don’t stop you spreading it?

    1. K. Cavan

Ah, Micko, you’ve not been paying attention, skulking there at the back of the class. Fear not, you’ll find out what “Vaccine Passports”, “Freedom Passes”, “Moron Certificates” (or whatever Newspeak term becomes the New Norm) are all about, eventually. I can hardly wait, Micko, you’re gonna love the New Normal. Or else….

I’m sure the millions of people murdered by the Nazi’s would be very happy to see their deaths – and the lead up to their deaths – be equated with current lockdown restrictions… but what’s the point in having a political opinion if it can be expressed as idiotic hyperbole… good times

  8. Donald McCarthy

Those of us who pay close attention to the science of climate collapse view most of you with exactly the same incredulous disdain as you view the crazed outliers. Just saying.
