He’s done this before (same as a lot of stuff on Fox News), they spout some crap and then say only idiots consider it the truth but the damage has been done, a lot of people have only listened to the first part and off they go.

    1. ian-Og

I’m not taking any vaccine. I’ll take large doses of DMT and let my spirit animal worry about it.

      It’s a pangolin.

    2. K. Cavan

What about people who listen to the second part only or miss the start & the end & only catch the middle? They might do something on the basis of subliminal messages in Judas Priest songs. If you think Fox tell lies, while CNN, MSNBC or any US TV network tells the truth, you need a vaccination against confirmation bias.

Did you read the article before you chose to quote that misleading headline? Only Brazil and India are mentioned. Framing it as “around the world” is fanning the flames of fear. Two developing countries, some of the worst air pollution in the world, high levels of extreme poverty, etc, so many confounding factors, it’s a bit like comparing apples and oranges with our situation over here.

      1. Nigel

Yes, it’s quite a careful, non-sensational article. Last I checked, Brazil and India are, indeed, around the world. I don’t regard keeping a careful eye on what’s going on in places like that ‘fanning the flames of fear’ but sensible and precautionary. People who view everything through the sort of narrow frame you do really should leave of lecturing others about media framing and narratives.

        1. Termagant

“Brazil and India are, indeed, around the world”
Another absolutely classic piece of sophistry from Nigel

      2. Micko

Around the world. Who can say?

But, It’s done here. Sure on Primetime the other night, Donnelly was getting a grilling about the thousands of 60-69 old who haven’t even signed up for the vax.

That number of people who opt out is only going to get bigger and bigger as we go down the age groups.

It’s done. Get the vax if ya want. But there’s a load of people who won’t bother, because they’re not scared.

        1. Nigel

If too many people refuse to vaccinate, then it won’t be done. You can go back to whining about masks and lockdowns when another wave hits.

          1. Micko

Do you think this will go on forever?

            Do you need a hug?

Are you sad the lockdown is ending?

          2. Cui Bono?

Getting the virus is a better way to build immunity Nigel. We all don’t have to vaccinate.

Remember the IFR is only 0.05% for under 70s.

          3. K. Cavan

We know who the At Risk are, instead of exposing them to the lowest common denominator of whatever level of virus suppression can be achieved universally, we should be throwing a ring of PPE around them or whatever’s required, then take our first positive steps out of this mess.

        2. Junkface

If you are over 40, you should get the vaccine for sure. The variants turning up in India are killing younger people than before. This virus did come from a lab, it has aggressive features attached to it that attack the lungs fast. China and its CCP were researching how to find cures for the strongest bat viruses they had samples of in the Wuhan lab, therefore it is not comparable to Flu, even if you had very light symptoms if you caught it, you still have the chance of spreading a new variant or taking part in a mutation if you are not vaccinated. Vaccinations are an important public health issue and we need 90% take up if we are going to beat this awful virus, and the lockdowns that come with it. We are so lucky that a stronger virus was not released in late 2019. Here is a link to an excellent discussion on viruses and virus labs that all of the superpowers seem to get involved in. Over their heads by the looks of it.

Regardless of all of those factors, human bodies are remarkably similar the world around regardless, and more align more at younger ages. Your average 30year old Brazilian and 30year old Irish person are not so different.

If it leads to even 1 death is it worth it for the likes of Broadsheet to have blood on its hands by promoting an anti covid message & anti public health message? I would not like to have it on my conscience if it did.

People like Rogan shoot from the hip and can do severe damage to his listeners as they encourage a wilful ignorance re covid. Apart from killing people, the long term damage to peoples health from this dirty disease is growing.

There are multiple medical studies like these printed and pre-printed.
    https://www.bmj.com/content/371/bmj.m4470
Young, low risk patients with ongoing symptoms of covid-19 had signs of damage to multiple organs four months after initially being infected, a preprint study has suggested.
Initial data from 201 patients suggest that almost 70% had impairments in one or more organs four months after their initial symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Young adults need to be vaccinated end of!

Children especially among the BAME community may experience severe post covid illness
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/feb/05/up-to-100-uk-children-a-week-hospitalised-with-rare-post-covid-disease
When PIMS emerged in the first wave of the pandemic, it caused confusion among doctors, concern among NHS bosses and alarm among parents. It was initially thought to be Kawasaki disease, a rare condition that mainly affects babies and infants. But PIMS has been recognised as a separate, novel post-viral syndrome that one in 5,000 children get about a month after having Covid, regardless of whether they had symptoms

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/health/almost-21000-children-infected-with-covid-19-this-year-but-no-school-surge-40337896.html
Almost 21,000 children and young people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 this year and 243 of these were hospitalised.

One death caused by an anti covid/anti corona virus message is one too many

      1. K. Cavan

+1 Micko, anyone can do a “study” that “seems to suggest” that “new” variants “seem” to be tapdancing down into young people’s Lower Respiratory Tract. Sars02 is not a serious risk to kids & these stories aim to deliberately obscure that fact, with speculation & lies. What a load of tosh. All variants of Coronaviruses are 99.7% genetically identical & the clinical presentation (symptoms, effects) are exactly the same. In fact Sars01, the “pandemic” before Mers, is 70% genetically identical to Sars02. Viruses don’t have a species-level differentiation, just Genus & Family but if they did, all variants of Sars02 or HKU1 or OC43 would be the same species & if viruses could breed or reproduce outside an infected cell, these could all interbreed. Variants are equally likely to be LESS infectious & LESS harmful, they are random mutations, gain-of-function is no more likely than loss. If you believe that the dog with the black tail is more likely to bite you than the one with the black & brown tail, you’re at the same scientific level as these ridiculous “new variant” clickbait stories.

    1. Cui Bono?

Come on Joe, you can do better than this. THINK and then THINK some more.

For the overwhelming majority of young and healthy adults and children covid is not something to worry about. They have little or no symptoms and no long term problems.

You can cherry pick articles all day long to suit your narrative but my above statement is the reality. The BMJ article you shared is only a minuscule number in the big picture.

“Young adults need to be vaccinated end of!” – OMG absolute hysterical crazy talk. If they have underlying health conditions it could be considered and way up the unknown long term risk of these new vaccines Vs the known risk from covid but for anyone young and healthy it’s not needed because their risk is less than 0.05%.

    2. Anti Bots

But there is no such thing as Covid, it’s only a bad cold. My aunt had it, and she only had a few sniffles. Sure feck all people died of it, and they were going to die anyway – even engineers can tell us that. Face masks are anti-freedom and unconstitutional. How dare our public servants, whose wages are paid by me, tell me what to do. Sure jaysus, they don’t even know that there are only 30 days in June. As for the vax, that is in fact a micro chip to control the population. Blah, blah, blah.

          1. Unreal

            100%

It is really sad to see Micko debase himself and his family here daily because he does seem like a nice genuine person

    3. K. Cavan

Nobody under the age of 17 has died from Covid in Ireland, not a single one, in over a year & it’s highly unlikely that any ever are, now that it’s endemic. Therefore, to expose even one child to the completely unknown risks of experimental mRNA jabs is clearly medically unconscionable & probably would’ve represented medical malpractice, before all rules & morals were discarded to facilitate The Great Reset. To actually vaccinate an entire cohort of kids is utterly genocidal & anyone in a position of authority who suggests it should and hopefully will, face criminal charges. It would be a short trial. Hanging would be too good for them

  3. Junkface

Joe Rogan makes mistakes like this from time to time when talking to different comedians, he mixes riffing with opinions. It was a stupid remark. He does however interview lots of well researched scientists that correct him on silly remarks, nothing to get in a panic over and no I would not compare his podcast to Fox news, that is ridiculous.

  4. f_lawless

Headlines from an alternative, saner reality:

Microsoft’s Bill Gates declares “pandemic isn’t over until the whole world is vaccinated” on US prime time TV

Bill gates: “I’m not a doctor. I’m a f***ing moron” after backlash to maniacal, unscientific vaccination remarks

    1. Nigel

Imagine thinking that a disease which spread from one place in the world to every other place in the world might require medical solutions going to all parts of the world. Maniacal.

      1. f_lawless

It would be one thing if the vaccines were being offered unconditionally – where citizens could make an informed choice as to whether to take the experimental vaccines that have been given emergency authorisation – and societies were allowed function openly again. Instead the vaccines are being used as a vehicle to coerce populations around the world into entering into this new supranational biosecurity tech surveillance system which is the antithesis of any liberal democracy.

If you think the Bill Gates is just some benevolent character disconnected from that side of things rather than a lynchpin, then all I can say is I think you’re being hopelessly naive.

        1. Nigel

Yes, withold the vaccine from poorer countries because you don’t like Bill Gates. Good going.

        2. Jam

There’s a benevolent fund that has had an audited and verified 50 billion put through it that makes me think he is a benevolent character. I’d go with that rather than opinions based on nothing.

          1. K. Cavan

Coincidentally, his personal wealth has doubled during the period that his “Foundation” has been around. He set it up the year after he was hammered in the US Anti-trust trials, which signalled that he was no longer going to have a chokehold over the PC market, so he started piling into shares in Pharma & bribes to Medical Authorities, Scientists, etc. He’s the 2nd biggest contributor to the WHO, after the US. He is nobody’s benefactor, Microsoft were ruthless operators, with no interest except profit & power, which reflected Gates perfectly.

        3. Unreal

I do like the fact you try to research your points f lawless in general but man you are off the Richter scale of paranoid and crazy. Sorry

    2. Anti Bots

I agree f-lawless as said above, the vax is a micro-chip to control us all. Bill Gates is chief in charge along with all those other pizza shop based lizard people. And there are 31 days in April.

    3. K. Cavan

Bill Gates’ 55 million worth of BioNTECH shares are currently valued at 550 million. Clearly he’s a Medical Genius, that must be why so many Governments are doing exactly what he’s suggested. He payrolls the WHO, he even gives millions to the UK’s official medicine regulatory body. If you look at the relationship between Big Pharma & Public Health Authorities, it’s hard to see where one ends & the other starts, it’s worse than Banking & the EU Commission.
