Van Morrison – Where Have All The Rebels Gone?

Where have all the rebels gone?
Hiding behind computer screens
Where’s the spirit? Where’s the soul?

Why don’t they come out of the woodwork now?
One for the money, two for the show
It’s not very rock’n’roll
Where have all the rebels gone?

Were they really all that tough?
Or was it just a PR stunt?
They’re not saying very much, are they?
Where have all the rebels gone?

Van The Man comes out fighting with a j’accuse of his fellow rock stars who have stayed conspicuously silent on the tragic effects of the lockdown.

No doubt those hiding behind computer screens will snipe back at his stance. Starting in 3, 2, 1

Fans of Van will be delighted to know that they can buy tickets at nugs.net for his virtual gig from the Real World Studios in the UK which takes place tomorrow at 8pm.

His new album Latest Record Project Volume 1 is out today.

Nick says: This is a rebel song.

Van Morrison

Meanwhile….

Um.

Meanwhile…

G’wan the Van.

I remember Van well, in the Felons Hotel, on the run with a comrade to his right and another one to his alt-right and a clip of ammunition for his little Armalite. He was a smooth operator, a fine young criminal. When I think of all the rosaries we said for him, how we counted him out on to the mean streets of occupied West Belfast, then we counted him back again, his helmet glistening in the sun. That man was a rebel. Dab hand with a molotov too.

On sunny afternoons in the rose garden I do enjoy Van and Fromage and sparkling light conversation.

I think Van the Man unfortunately is showing early stage dementia or maybe he is cynically trying to find the dregs of a new audience, the tinfoil hat wearing brigade, with lyrics that inane

I think this a much better take on the scenario Easy Sleazy, Mick Jagger and Dave Grohl :)

Ah well, at least he’s wearing his paranoia on his (album) sleeve.
One must assume that Van is implying he is the last of the rock and roll rebels?

Some er … interesting song-titles in there such as:
“Why are you on Facebook” and “Stop Bitching, Do Something.”

Gotta let artists breathe, one assumes if Van farted into an envelope the record company would release it.

One of the rudest and grumpiest people I’ve ever had too deal with in the music business!

A lot of people are pointing out that it’s unusual that he stayed quiet on the Civil Rights movement, the Troubles, the Vietnam War, Gulf Wars, invasion of Iraq etc. but now pointing the finger at others for staying quiet on having to wear a mask.
It’s hard to disagree with that.

Oh come on that’s weak whiny sauce. He could have released a new version of one of his classics and called it Listen To The Lyin’.

    Into the Piss-take?

    Soz.

Saw him live once and once only (so far). The Point, mid-1990’s. He was doing some sort of a gig with an enormous band (no, it wasn’t an orchestra). Came out with a fuppin’ conductor’s baton, stood for the entirety of the gig with his back to the audience, didn’t open his gob once to say boo to a goose, walked off. No encore. Good luck to that plop I sez to meself. Appreciate that this is the temperament of genius. I was glad i got the tickets for nothing.

Good question, Van, rebels are fairly thin on the ground around these parts, by the looks of it. More fans of Klaus “Anal” Schwab than music, I’d reckon. Back in your pens, sheeple, Bill Gates will be along shortly to select his new wife.
