Dublin’s Flared City

at

1971.

The future was bell-bottomed and garish.

Good times.

Name those jammers, anyone?

    Ah lovely

What I love about these vintage street pics
Are the colours people wore out and about
    Everyday
Like look in the background there – looks like a fabulous coat of different greens

    We’ve gotten very plain really
    Black Grey Navy Blues
    Pinstripes
    Suits, plain tops n’ shirts

And I’d be the same pretty much
Holidays & weekends away are the only time I’d be in bright colours and patterns

    Ara’. Lovely pic int’it

      I know !
People think they can only get ” dressed up ” for events, I’m like wear the damn dresses, what are you waiting for, you don’t need an event to get dressed ! Turn a few heads, enjoy your wardrobe. Sure brightens the place up !

    June 1971
Wexford played Offaly in the LHC
The yellow belly (girl in the purple) went home happier
While the other girl hung on to the sangwiches, by the looks of it

    2 -14 to 2-6 btw

Doubtful you remember that LHC V. If you do, then you’re using a lot of Palmolive

      1. V AKA Frilly Keane

        No. Not Palmolive
I use a thing called Wikipedia
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1971_All-Ireland_Senior_Hurling_Championship

        Btw
It occurred to me to take a goo ’cause at the time
Match Goers – particularly Championship matches
Dressed in their Colours from what they had in the wardrobe
        Or homemade outfits

Owning official County Jerseys only became a thing in 90s
With the Turk & the other FBI lads doing what is now called photoboming in Studio audiences
First known one was the Offaly one (the Field Marshal no less, so t’was probably a real *Co Match Jersey) in a very early Jerry Springer

        * Not sure it got much game time in fairness
