This afternoon.

An Anti-covid restrictions march from Phoenix Park to Stephen’s Green, where a rally was held.

Hugs with a priceless street value were seized during the march.

FIGHT!

How can traffic to this site be falling off a cliff with the vast number of like-minded Covid-19 layexperts out there .. such as those who attended today’s rally … we may never know. Hic. Etc.

There is something funny about there being so little reporting or reference to what has taken place with thousands of irish protesters up and down the country today … and yet the pictures here of ppl out for the day attract self satisfied condemnation of the ‘loolas’ or whatever you call them .. ultimately folding in on itself with slaggings and general meanness. Is that a part of broadsheets interests or is it an unfortunate consequence of covering a news story that attracts ppl who like to take any opportunity to look down on others? One reference to a protest to come .. followed later by a post with pictures of ppl at the park .. is it a sense of humour thing.. maybe it’s like satire but very sleight .. show one thing but communicate something else entirely.. avoid the wrong sort of ppl .. is that it?

Darren there’s no publishing model I know of that is organised around giving a platform to minority, unpopular points of view. This is something to be admired, but derided or scorn poured on.

Unreal.. minority or unpopular… aren’t these vague even false terms to refer to a global public statement made by the people of various cities, including for local context, here in ireland ? It is only a form of covert satire that can explain this platform provided to a faux public rally at the monument in the park when another more active and widely attended meeting of like minded ppl has gathered in urgent solidarity and to reflect concern for those losing their lives and homes. And Bodger if it is not an interest of broadsheet to encourage self satisfied yap from its readers, particularly on the issue of concerns held by people or indeed views then is it simply the nature of the photo journalism itself which elicits these responses? When the national broadcast media is perhaps understandably reluctant to reflect marginal and even complex narratives isn’t it the marginal and complex platforms like broadsheet which are best suited to do so .. and in a manner which underlines the dignity and not the difference of such views.. whether global / religious / health / civic etc

            Was there a question there?
Try again please and I’ll try to get an answer to you

Hi unreal .. I ask myself how it is that I too can switch off people’s opportunity to reply to my comments directly…? I also wonder why you have made explicit reference to being open to answering a question if it is rephrased .. and yet with no way to reply I must reply to myself and maybe you will reply to me that way.. This set up is just the sort of thing that I was questioning in the first place.. As is conventional I have placed a question mark ? where it is that a question is being asked. Except here because of course you have answered my question in your own way

Bodger, when you’re finished after your next march for danger. Head down to James’ Hospital ICU and tell them you don’t mind giving them more bed neighbours coz you aren’t bothered your botty waiting a month or less to be vaccinated.

  3. Unreal

Yes how dare Bodger allow a view to be aired which contrasts with state media driven groupthink.
I don’t personally agree with the anti vaccine crones but this is just for pragmatic, selfish reasons, I want to go on my fupping holidays this year: and old Bodger and co here just might be motivated by less worldly concerns.
You hand wringing reactionary gobspoos don’t deserve Bodger and co and should scurry off to the Journal and other repositories of dung beetles which are your natural domain.

Shame on us for not treating the idea that the pandemic is a hoax with the gravity it deserves.

      1. Enough with the name calling now in fairness

Was that an attempt at conversation you effulgent little scutter monkey? Go skitter over on someone else’s comment instead you overly verbose little chipmunk

        1. Bitnboxy

Guffaw! Is someone a tad vexed? Nigel’s pithy response is decidedly not verbose. Still. one is amused by Unreal’s umbrage. (The alliteration is obvs there to pee you off even more Mr Surreal). Glorious!

If I manage to curtail in any way the sheer volume of vomitous vitriol, the cornucopia of colostomic output and the catalog of cattle slurry that usually accompanies Nigel’s pig swill on here I will be doing the world an important favour – and cutting a few carbon emissions to boot! Huzzah!

Thanks for continuing the loolaa mad bananas crackers watch.

My Fav was the “no hand sanitizer”. Where dies that come from?

This is a great ad for doing your junior cert.

Subtract the kids that this lot carted along and the number of “true believers” drops even further. In any event, it looks peaceful so let them protest away.

Stick to putting the boot into box van man Giggidy – he carts rotten fruit around – did you know that? The odd Golden Wonder as well. It’s more your level.

“Most colostomates irrigate once a day or every other day, though this depends on the person, their food intake, and their health.”

        Thanks

A battle of slogan placards. Just look at the faces of those potentially revolutionary skeptics, some as young as four or five. Is Ireland on the brink of a radical takeover? Read Broadsheet if you want to find out.

    1. scottser

I would have had a sign saying ‘take sensible precautions’ or ‘mind your mammy’

Good to see some coverage of all sides in the debate. Broadsheet you are invaluable. Thank goodness the standard of commenting here is higher than the Journal.
