You mean the ignorant geebags good folks who don’t clean up the raft of cans and takeaway boxes after them? Or maybe you mean the poor souls who piss up against the side of someone’s house or front garden after consuming said cans and takeaway? Or maybe the kind people who throw their litter into the canals and pollute them even further than they already are?

Those poor wee lambs. They just can’t have anything nice.

I’ve always wondered what Beckett, Joyce, Yeats and Shaw would have thought about having naval vessels named after them.

I hope for the next ships they return to the use of Irish mythological or legendary names. I do think they are lovely ships, but the names are incongruous.

If I recall correctly, the then Minister said the change was so that they would be recognised as Irish. In that case, should we not use a name in Irish? And what about that flag flying on the mast, is that not kind of a giveaway?

Besides, with yesterday being Argentine Navy Day commemorating the victory at the battle of Montevideo (with the Argentine forces led by Irishman Admiral William Brown), how many people would automatically recognise the Sarandi as Argentine? And do you think the Argentines really care, as they know?

Thanks Janet. Doing as well as I suppose can be expected. Obviously still a lot of family stuff going on.
My sister is leading on the sorting of papers and various bits and bobs that our step-mother does not want. Besides, she is still very distraught.
I thought I collected a lot in my half century. It is nothing compared to my Dad, but he did have a four-decade head start :-) That being said, I did not keep every shopping receipt I ever got…
