          Hey bs, double post…
glitch in the matrix, or two for the price of one?…
          :-D

          1. Charlie

Slow day at your Covid drama news desk? In all the excitement you posted it twice :-).
Smashing day today. Enjoy the great outdoors folks x

Another week where crowds failed to turn out to a BS promoted antivaxx/antimask/antilockdown shindig?

        Colour me shocked!!!!

          1. Daisy Chainsaw

I multitask! I can sneer at anti everything gowls who now have zero support beyond racists and bigots, while having a coffee, listening to the radio and enjoying the magnificent sunshine.

          2. Daisy Chainsaw

Not to brag, Hyper real, but yes. Yes I can.

But only due to much practice and determination.

        1. Donald McCarthy

When the smoking ban was mooted we were promised massive unrest and disobedience and angry smokers roaring like lions. The ban happened and following it, if you listened very carefully you might just have heard the tinny whiny bleating of a lonely lamb. It’ll be much the same with the antivaxx/antimask/antilockdown shindiggers.

          1. SOQ

You really think that lockdowns which has caused social damage on a scale never seen since the second world war is comparable to an indoor smoking ban?

After RTE went to a break, I googled Christian Eriksen to see if there was any update. This was about 5 minutes after he’d collapsed. I got a fright when the top result, his Wikipedia entry, started with “Christian Eriksen was a professional football player…”. Five minutes later, it was back to “is a professional football player”. There really are some sick little puppies in this world.

    1. Kate

Well done to so many on the scene , acted swiftly and saved his life. Within seconds the referee had summoned responders, impressive ! Christian alive and kicking and hurray for that!

      1. Birdie

Yeah it was great to see the fast action of his teammates when it came to first aid. It’s so important to know it.

Pity they couldn’t win the match for him but I have to say I was always cheering for Finland due to Daniel O’Shaughnessy, gotta channel Irish football hopes through him!

          1. Birdie

It’s a bit more tenuous versus Daniel’s Dad being a Galwegian. Also I do love me an under dog.

          2. Birdie

Wow Bertie, you’re a wealth of information. I’d no idea about Harry Kane. Guess I’ll be forced to cheer them on now against Croatia. Should be a cracking match all the same.

        1. Daisy Chainsaw

A headline from a Danish paper today read “Game lost, life won”. Great perspective.

          1. Hyper real

I don’t know what Bertie above thinks but I thought it was very unsavoury in many respects.
First the prolonged camera views on what appeared to be a dead or dying man. Then the fact the game continues. With his teammates not really knowing his condition presumably. Or; having gone through such mental torture. Admirable stoicism? Or cold, financially driven exploitation of grieving people? You decide.

          2. Daisy Chainsaw

The camera trying to get better angles on Eriksen and then his wife was really horrible. I was pleased to see the team block the view from the invasive efforts of the media. I know they have a job to do too, but a bit of common decency wouldn’t have gone amiss.

      2. Hyper real

I’d really love if all the anti vac sillies would post on this about how big Pharma/ big medicine can’t be trusted etc after seeing this extraordinary act of saving a virtually dead man’s life on the big screen for all the world to see. Or did Gates orchestrate this one as some kind of false flag operation? So many questions

  2. SOQ

Now that the vaccine program is in full flight, NHS England are changing the way in which they record ‘cases’, making a distinction between ‘with’ and ‘from’ – convenient timing eh?

NHS England has instructed hospitals to make the change to the daily flow of data sent by NHS trusts […] Hospitals have been told to change the way they collect data on patients infected with coronavirus to differentiate between those actually sick with symptoms and those who test positive while seeking treatment for something else.

One NHS source said the new data would be “more realistic” as not all patients were sick with the virus, adding: “But it will make figures look better as there have always been some, for example stroke [patients], who also had Covid as an incidental finding”.

    https://off-guardian.org/2021/06/11/the-nhs-just-changed-how-they-count-covid-cases-heres-why/

So the “conspiracy theorists” were right all along.

      1. Cian

        That is another blatant lie.

They are still counting the cases. The change is that they won’t be monitoring the non hospitalised cases (as in capturing information related to clustering by patient demographics, geographic location, time since vaccination, vaccine type, and SARS-CoV-2 lineage. They are doing genomic sequencing on specimens – which puts pay to the other lie “PCR test produce 95% false-positives” )

        1. GiggidyGoo

I knew you’d get a comment or two questioning the source you’d linked to. (Par for the course). So I put up one that, strangely enough, there are no smart comments about.

    1. Cian

NHS asks for more granular data. If you add the “with” to the “from” you can compare to previous data.

      1. SOQ

And when they start quoting the new figures and claiming a vaccine success- how many people do you think are going to do that?

        1. Cian

If they are producing both figures then you can see both. And hold the media to account IF they start using the wrong ones.

      1. Cian

That article is full of the Covidenier “facts” that have been disproved multiple times.

        This crowd says (https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/offguardian/)
Overall, we rate OffGuardian a Strong Conspiracy and Strong Pseudoscience website that frequently promotes unproven conspiracy theories and false information regarding the Coronavirus.

        Which aligns neatly with SOQ.

    2. Nigel

Maybe the ‘conspiracy theorists’ didn’t know what they were talking about then, and continue not to know what they’re talking about now?

    1. Donald McCarthy

Soon every day will be a sun day! Your sunshine is in Leitrim today, beating the stones.

    2. GiggidyGoo

Move Millie. To the Sunny South East, where the sun is splitting the stones since 5am. Sell up. The profit you make will buy a great property with full fiber broadband, easy living, fresh air, rabbits hares, cows, and shopping (timewise, compared to shopping in the capital) within easy reach. A trip to the city would then be a treat, and December 8 even more so. :-)
C’mon. We are waiting for ye.

        1. GiggidyGoo

Plenty. After all, people travel here for holidays. Plus there’s Rosslare Europort and many people travel in and out that way.

          1. Bitnboxy

Love Wexford Giggz – many happy family hols in Kelly’s of Rosslare when we were young. But the accent- no – flat or flah’ as the locals say. It can be a bit rough for my liking – Mick Wallace – ugh. Give me the dulcet tones of the west of Ireland, a west Cork sing song lilt or the Donegal drawl. The Midlands and the South East do not have our finest accents!

          1. Bitnboxy

As Giggz is apt to proclaim: I’m glad I’m living rent free in your head.

            You’re quite the strange fellow.

            :-p

  3. GiggidyGoo

So Michilín is ‘angry and shocked’ over mica?

Question is – was mica an additive used purposely in the manufacture of the blocks?

Another question – Was Cassidys insured at the time of manufacture? If so, why can’t the victims claim off Cassidys insurance that was in place at the time? (for instance, if I had an accident with my car where I was to blame, 10 years ago, and a claim was only made now, then it’s the insurance that I held at that time which would have to pay out)

    1. Cathal

If you manufactured blocks that you knew were in breach of 70 year old regulations I don’t think the Insurance Company is going to look too kindly on it,

      1. GiggidyGoo

Insurance companies don’t look kindly on any claims

But if you manufactured them based on the belief they were safe, there would be scope for a claim then?

    2. Hyper real

It’s not that hard to figure out really
They put any oul stuff into blocks now because they are not allowed open new quarries but still want to sell the oul blocks

  4. Joe

As Broadsheet stupidly and dangerously promotes antivaxx/antimask/antilockdown non-science nonsense
I think its only fair to start a new idiotic meme for the intellectually challenged antivaxx/antimask/antilockdown posters on Broadsheet :)
First and foremost thank the gods (and the basic scientific knowledge & research that provided the First Aid/CPR and technology ) that saved Christian Eriksen life.
Heres the lies for the new alternative antivaxx/antimask/antilockdown fact meme
Christian Eriksen was seen wearing a mask (nano sized mask particles that entered his lungs earlier made him collapse)
Christian Eriksen was vaccinated and it affected his heart so he collapsed
Christer Eriksen was vaccinated and the magnetic particles in his arm that were switched on by the 5G Rays suffered interference form the Video Assistant Ref causing him to collapse.
I am sure the antivaxx/antimask/antilockdown non-science nonsense posters on Broadsheet will fill in a few more!
Meanwhile in the real world (Though I am sure the antivaxx/antimask/antilockdown posters will shout Bill Gates lies)
    https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/eriksens-former-cardiologist-says-he-had-no-history-heart-concerns-2021-06-13/
Inter director says Eriksen did not have COVID, was not vaccinated

For those in the real world enjoy the sunshine today!

    1. SOQ

And that was yet another whinge from Joe about how he hates broadsheet- and then turns up daily to tell everyone.

Name me one regular Broadsheet commentator who is an anti-vaxer Joe?

      1. Papi

Queenie, we can name one who has become irrationally and completely obsessed with the whole thing.

        1. SOQ

I can name just one other commentator who also calls me Queenie- if that helps?

You are at a crossroads broadsheet.ie- and I pray you make the right decision.

          1. millie bobby brownie

            I just really like Blackadder.

But you’re right, queenie, if Papi insists on using my nickname for you, I’m going to have to start charging.

            YOU’VE BEEN WARNED PAPSTER.

        2. Hyper real

Amen brother. Good call on Gogol Bordello btw.
There was even a klezmer band in Dublin for a lock of years.

A lot of people think Tik Tok is just bored nurses dancing in a ‘pandemic’ because they have nothing else to do, and the feeds can be quite random at first but underneath- is a wealth of curiosities.

One such is boaz_dikobe- Conservative.Black.Gay.Jewish.South African- legal immigrant in USA.

So sharp he could cut himself. He rips into the BLM shower and has no time for the alphabet mafia either. Even if you don’t agree with him- he is an absolute master class in bitchy put downs.

Also, he converses with the most diverse group of people on live streams I have ever seen- I absolutely love this guy… does that make me racist- or something?

    1. Hyper real

No just lonely, and infinitely, perpetually attention-seeking it seems. Thoughts and prayers

    2. Bitnboxy

Usual OTT hyperbole and Granddad gay nonsense SOQ – the young think differently from you- and so they should – the passing of time and changing mores is the real source of your ire. Go cozy up to that other tiresome twit Keith Mills and recall the good old days (pre 1993 of course).

      1. SOQ

Apart from a crude attempt at a personal attack- what does that even mean?

This guy is only 30 years old and is a ballet dancer who has travelled the world- so not excactly a troll sitting in his mother’s basement.
