No Counter Culture

Hogan’s, South Great George’s Street, Dublin 2 pre-Covid

This morning.

Following the signing into law by President Higgins yesterday of measures that will deny access to pubs and restaurants to the unvaxxed…

….the new indoor hospitality guidelines are due to be published shortly.

Via RTÉ

It is understood that under the guidelines drawn up by the Indoor Hospitality Guidelines Group, there will be no limit on the length of time customers can remain in a premises.

Face coverings will have to be worn by customers moving around indoors, and digital and paper vaccine certificates will be accepted on entry.

In addition, there will be no bar service, with six people allowed to eat at a table indoors.

I think what we’ve all learned from this is that Ireland has a serious issue with drink, and that rather than address the issue, we focus on idiotic things like being served at the counter.

I personally have no issue with it, and feel that the longer these stench-filled cesspools and ruinous urine factories stay largely shuttered the absolute better we are all for it

I think what we’ve learned is that some people have a problem with other people drinking, and rather address the reasoning behind their own biases, focus on idiotic things like stopping people from being served at the counter.

Your post is self-referential – you’ve created an infinite feedback loop that will rip apart the universe

i think what we’ve all learned is that cider is a much better daytime drink than beer in this heat.

this is great news, vaccinated people can now go for a few scoops and a nosebag, If we keep uo our great effort, soon everyone esle will be able to join.

a great result for the roll out,
If you look at the situation in places like Australia, where they really bungled it, and are now facing a totally unavoidable lock down. I recall that idiotic youtuber posted here a few weeks back sneering at vaccinators in Sydney or somewhere, you should repost that now Bodger,,,

      Fully Vaccinated Progress
      ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░ 63.7%

Almost ⅔ of adults can go to a pub as they are vaccinated.

At the current rate of vaccination that number increases by more than 5% per week.
By 14th September 99% of adults could be fully vaccinated (the 1% includes SOQ, f_lawless, and Queue Bono) .

      1. SOQ

and SOQ could grow a new head of hair. The further on this goes, the harder it will be to convince the remainder. Especially young people who are at little or no risk of CoVid-19 in the first place.

Just look at the US- they have even had to pull the Trump team to promote it now.

        1. Cian

3,720,000,000 jabs so far globally; more than 13% of the global population are fully vaccinated; more than 26% had one dose.

          1. SOQ

And? I’d be more interested in what percentage of high risk were vaccinated globally myself.

Grand – feel free to stay at home clattering the keyboard, sharing amazing new evidence from TikTokers, while the rest of us are skulling pints in our respective locals.

          1. General Public

Grand, I’ll just post stats from randomers on twitter like your mate Cian.

And you’re free to sit inside with all your friends drinking on your own, I’ll be outside with everyone else having a laugh, and drinking.

      2. Zaccone

Is it not fairly morally reprehensible to be using precious vaccines on statistically not at risk teenagers in Europe/the US while around the world millions of actually at risk 80+ year old people can’t get vaccines?

Like for all the talk about saving lives in the third world over the last few decades, this is a very real, very immediate way to do exactly that. But none of our political parties have even mentioned it…

Easy, a few thousand lines of basic and nothing else going on in his life.! ;-)

        Magic and graphs.

        these are 2 ascii characters:”▓” and “░”;
If you add lots together you can:
        ▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░
        ░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓
        ▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░
        ░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓
        or
        ░░░░▓▓▓▓

There is currently no indoor access to pubs and restaurants for anyone. The bill grants access to the vaccinated and those who have recovered from Covid-19.

      1. Nilbert

but what about all the legendary banter from the grumpy barmen of Ireland?

But more seriously, the amount of witless noise coming from the anti-vaxx brigade is doing a great job of drowning out proper conversation about real issues, massive ones, that are right before our eyes!

Cuckoo funds are running amok, the government is practically sponsoring them to do so. A very real crisis is growing, but its not something we can invoke the spirits of 1916 about I suppose. its an actually conspiracy, a real one. But it doesn’t serve the actual ‘elites’ ti have people up in arms ranting about this… far better to distract them with tales of magnetic arms, nanobots 5g cmasts…

    1. Spot of Bodge

If you are one of those anti vaccination paranoiacs you are most likely already a social pariah. Now we have a legit excuse to exclude you from our lives … Cheers!

        1. Nilbert

yes, it would make perfect sense to follow up a decree allowing vaccinated persons to enter a public house with …. COMPULSORY ABORTIONS! Compulsory gay-ups are inevitably next.

Are you a comedy novelty account? Because your schtick is a bit jaded

  4. Furore2021

Considering the only people I know with Covid currently have been double jabbed, I think it’s safe to say this won’t last long! Best of luck with your now completely screwed up immune systems. That pathogenic priming will go down a (cytokine) storm! Enjoy that pint, while you can!!!

      1. Furore2021

Haha! Will be having my cake and eating it in 20+ years! Not sure the same will be said about the indoor diners!

        1. Spot of Bodge

I only ever come here for a giggle. It never fails to deliver. An exquisite curation of crackpots. Not many businesses you can say that about. Five stars, would recommend.

    1. Daisy Chainsaw

Antivaxx all know LOADS of people who got the jabs and then got covid. It’s very reminiscent of the Repeal referendum, when antichoicers knew LOADS of women who’d had abortions and regretted them! (I didn’t believe them either!)

    1. SOQ

Its getting silly now- half the ‘cases’ in Israel are jabbed- its nearly like vaccines make no difference. All of this talk of variants is just to cover the fact that the previously much hyped efficacy rate is nowhere near what was claimed.

      1. Furore2021

Yep and then there are the deaths post-vax. This is a global genocide at this point. http://www.openvaers.com for a dip in the ocean into what is happening in the states. This isn’t a vaccine, it’s at best a really crappy “treatment” and at worst, a death sentence.

          1. ian-oG

I got vaccinated, both shots a few weeks now and while its clearly coincidental, I haven’t felt better in a long, long time including pre covid.

Might be the weather, might be the psychological boost of getting out and about to pubs and seeing family and friends again, likely a combination of the two but hell I feel great, real Tony the Tiger buzz off me lately.

Shame I will soon die but hey, I will die happy, like all the other lambs. Baah!

One point to remark on on that video; it was hypothesized for years that for polio, OPV blocked disease and transmission and IPV blocked disease but not transmission. It is only quite recently that there have been some ‘natural experiments’ (aka accidents) where people who were only IPV-jabbed (and never got OPV) were exposed to wild polio (in manufacturing plants) and indeed, they became infected. OPV introduction followed pretty rapidly after IPV so it’s impossible to test, but would be interesting to see what would have happened to polio transmission if we had only had access to IPV.
