Earlier: But Some Are More Equal Than Others
Later…
It’s your only man, in fairness.
(cheeky Van Morrison photobomb, top right)
Is that you in the background Bodger trying to hide from the camera ?
I like his style.. 2nd pint in place and settling before he finishes the first in one tasty gooey slug.
Of course it isn’t.
Bodger isn’t vaccinated so he’s not allowed inside the for pints.
Pubs back open and tickets in hand here for the Dubs on Sunday…. Lovely stuff.
That is the kind of good news we need more of!
Delireh for ye, Bert ;)
Thanks pal :)
Great stuff, what did you make of the weekends’ games gone? (you see this is why you’d miss Frilly)
Watching Kerry yesterday I felt like Rocky in Rocky III as Clubber Lang is battering all and sundry on his way up.
Very ominous.
That said, I think it’s great to see Kerry and Mayo getting hyped up by all
And sundry. Leave them to it.
lol fair enough, my thoughts too,
my honest opinion, next weekend will be Dublin’s hardest game, but Tyrone have improved a lot this year, so we will see…
You think Kildare will be Dublin’s hardest game? Fair enough.
Yea, I mean Kildare have absolutely nothing to lose, no one expects them to do anything, and Meath have to have given them some hope, don’t worry, I don’t expect their little flitter to last very long, but Dublin seem to have a concentration problem this year, just not as tuned up as in other years – yet.
…so first indoors for fried food and pints are the elderly and morbidly obese ,gosh i so miss Ireland:)
canismokehere.
One guy at Saturday’s protest wasn’t too keen on adding stuff to what he imagines is already coursing through his veins:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E7IoMjrWYAA-x5N?format=jpg&name=medium
I can no longer sit back and allow
CommunistCovid Vaccine infiltration,CommunistCovid Vaccine indoctrination,CommunistCovid Vaccine subversion, and the internationalCommunistCovid Vaccine conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids!P.O.E.
I spoke to similar placard wielding people in your photo at a previous protest.
They frightened me, apart from being anti vaxxers …
They are religious zealots filled with hate for so many things e.g. womens healthcare,/gay hating homophobes and genuinely appear to believe in a version of un Christianity filled with hatred for everyone except people who share their beliefs
They really do have sad little lives
do you need more kittens with that, Joe?
Don’t think you can include the gays there – at all. The LGBT community is split right down the middle on this one because people are very uneasy with any form of discrimination- especially medical.
As for all the rest, that is bullpoo. One look at the people out protesting last Saturday should tell you that they come from all walks of life and were as much Left as Right.
ALL left of centre parties voted against this segregation because civil rights are core left wing.
Didn’t hear anything from the Left to say they were in attendance. Where will I find that info?
I’d say many, if not most, who attended felt they are being genuinely discriminated, but there were certainly a few religious crazies, Freemen (wasn’t Ben one of them?) and the usual anti everything brigade. You know the drill: 5g, Bill Gates, George Soros, EU BBC, RTE etc.
Absolutely, you’ll get the cranks everywhere but far right politics does not have a foothold in Ireland, otherwise it would be represented in the elections. IMO it is a bogeyman used to keep people in line, but it’s not working anymore.
By Left I mean voters rather than parties and it wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of them were Sinn Féin or Labour / Soc Dem voters.
And, some of those people were probably vaccinated but they can see where all this is heading. Being anti vaccine passport does not mean being anti vaccine, at all.
@SOQ Then these anti vaccine passport folks (I am in favour of it for travel though I must say) as opposed to the small but vocal anti-vaccine conspiracy crew, must make it clear to Ben Gilroy, Tracey O’Mahoney, Dolores Cahill, Marcus De Brun that they want nothing to do with them and particularly do not want them hijacking protests for a rancid agenda that is the very antithesis of democracy. At the moment the lines are blurred.
Agreed the lines are blurred but when you have the likes of Paul Murphy arguing for MORE lockdowns- it is no wonder people are going in another direction.
Irish people are not that different to English or French or any other country in Europe and yet, only here is the far right slur being thrown- why is that?
Genuine question.
How do you know whether or not the right is being identified as the source of most of what is fueling the pandemic-truther movement in other European countries?
“The LGBT community is split right down the middle on this one”
I’ve noticed the opposite, and I would say your observations come from a place of treating a anti-vaccine Twitter algorithm as a typical reality, which of course it isn’t. LGBT people have a very strong community based approach to public health, that’s not really debatable.
I think you’re trying to draw some kind of similarity between disclosure of HIV status and take up of the covid vaccine by your ‘medical discrimination’ comment, but the politics on each are entirely different in relation to stigma, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis so it doesn’t work sorry.
No, people are definitely very uneasy about all of this- as they are about all forms of discrimination. Medical disclosure is a well worn path in the gay community and it really doesn’t matter what that disclosure is.
Sure some people are upset. This isn’t discrimination.
Your assertion that the LGBT community is split down the middle is totally untrue though.
Be more Jimmy.
Good for Jimmy! A lot of young folks were at least able to have fun in outdoor groups in parks over the last while – the ones in my local park were generally very well behaved it has to be said. I’ll bet Jimmy didn’t do this and this is his first proper pint and a bit of socialising in quite some time. Also nice to see a bit of good news on BS for once.
…the picture health and happiness thanks Diageo, what is he in his 60’s,i always found day drinking and day drinkers just so sad,end the line for most,a few slot machines would add to the ambiance….as he lights a big fat spliff guzzles more espresso, was it /is it for these bunch degenerate day drinkers:)
hahah that’s a funny one alright ;)
I bet you’re a vegan as well aren’t you Johnny?
A couple of hours in and already breaking the rules with customers at the bar. Well done.
@George Did you have a difficult start in life or did you just grow up difficult?
one job situation…
Yes and posing for pictures too- ha ha.
It doesn’t matter. Box has been ticked. That’s all that’s important.
This is just the gov shoving the responsibility for people not getting sick onto the publicans and restaurant owners.
Who should be responsible for people not getting sick?
You.
You should be responsible for you not getting sick.
If I’m in a crowded public space and I need to sneeze it would not be responsible for me to sneeze into my hand (or arm). Then I would have germs on my hand/arm.
I should sneeze away from me, into the crowd. I’m not responsible for them getting sick.
Or next winter, if I get the ‘flu; I’ll go into work anyways – it’s not my responsibility that others get sick.
“ if I get the ‘flu; I’ll go into work anyways”
Who gave you the flu then?
Are they responsible for you getting sick?
It’s a never ending cycle.
Personal responsiblity?
Howaya JImmy, enjoy the day and the pint(s)!
I’ve been drinking pints and eating indoors for about two months now.
(I’ve also been ”smoking” in the the smoking area.(hash-tag johnny))
Where was I you ask..?.
IF I give you a clue will you get it?
IF I repeat it will that help?
What IF I put it in italics?
What IF I tell you that they show movies too?
And I’m not even a member.
didn know they let you drink pints watching a film in the IFI? i wouldnt recommend it though. puts me to sleep (the beer in the cinema, not the pretentious french muck that puts me to sleep that is)
Yeah but…
Have you ever been in a cinema that didn’t smell of popcorn? Wee all know what popcorn smells like, don’t wee?
It’s a totally different experience.
Genius – put a table next to the counter…
isnt a counter just a glorified table anyway? maybe the regulations distinguish between bar counters and tables.
Legislation talks about seats.
No reason (that I can see) you can’t sit at the bar.
I don’t think you two will be allowed in.
Nothing personal… it’s just a vibe I’m getting.
No jobs to go to?
OMG LOOK AT ALL THE COVID EVERYWHERE!
Whats this place? Looks like a Church or an old confession box. I’m confused. Its been so long!
More confused now….drinking at counter and no mask on anyone, including staff……….enough to drive you to drink …
I’m glad they threw our constitutional rights under a bus so a few auld fellas could have a pint on their own in the morning. The unemployed on the PUP will be along later in the day to buy them one on us. Well worth all this.
Sure is that not what they all do already anyway – spend all our money on hookers, drugs, horses and booze? And waste the rest? I heard that restaurant fella on the raddio there this morning and I could have swore…
Things that I’m sick of hearing about during covid:
Wet pubs…..who even came up with that name???
GAA.
Mass.
Weddings.
Sick of hearing about male dominated interests (pubs, sports etc.).
What about all the cancelled breast checks that have resulted in late diagnosis for cancer? What about women having to STILL go into maternity hospitals without partners?
Womens health services is once again superseded by all the talk about when pubs will be open and when has sports will be back, and when we can go to mass. How many people are affected by weddings? There’s a pandemic…..have a small wedding or just wait until it’s over.
The Aviva vaccination centre was shutdown for 2 days because of a 2 hour rugby game a few weeks back. What the hell????
But yeah……lets get distracted by the news that you can go inside a pub again. It would drive you f&*^ing mad.
