McNamara’s been doing great work for the last 18 months. Hes one of the only public figures in Ireland not either rabidly unquestioning of the government, or a complete 5G anti-vaxx loon. He just asks reasonable questions of the government (which usually gets ignored)’s handling of things.

In a better democracy our main opposition party would be doing what hes doing, instead of just blindly following the government line.

They deliberately used exaggerated figures to scare us into getting the vaccine.

Leo wants to use a lower number now so that the vaccine can be given credit for the reduction in numbers.

Also if the numbers don’t go down, eventually someone will ask how come vaccinated people are still getting infected.

So, just how useless are the vaccines anyway?

The Vax does seem efficient at killing old people though

      Your links prove zero
They are just silly nonsense that have zero credibility
Are you really that gullible that you would actually link to them to make a point?

Provide scientific peer reviewed papers from a respectable journal to prove your points otherwise everyone can see you are telling fibs or are incapable of understanding how incredibly successful the vaccination campaigns are working in saving lives

Just because you don’t like what I’m saying doesn’t mean I’m fibbing

” how incredibly successful the vaccination campaigns are working in saving lives”
any scientific peer reviewed papers from a respectable journal to prove your point?

People can read the links and make their own minds up.
Maybe even do a bit of research to check the facts.

Have you even bothered to read it?

If you’re assuming it’s wrong, without even reading it, then you’re just plain ignorant and do not understand what science is.

      @Just Sayin
Nice reasonable conversations start on this site around lots of topics. Then people like you stagger in with lots of half baked nonsense and everyone just slopes away. Would you just look at your comments for the love of god and see how off point they are. Please.

This post is about the fact that the government has deliberately fed us with misleading information.

My Reply is an explanation of why they did that and why they are considering correcting it now.

That seems perfectly on topic to me.

Do you have a different suggestion on why they lied to us and are trying to change the story now?

          See below

This post is about the fact that the government has deliberately fed us with misleading information.

*Thats not a fact though ( I’m not a fan of the Govt btw) its your collation of mildly related opinions. If it is a fact then where can you show that we have been deliberately misled?*

My Reply is an explanation of why they did that and why they are considering correcting it now.

          * No, you raised a few points amongst which was a comment on vaccinated people getting covid – you do know it is not going to stop you getting covid so its perfectly possible for people to get covid AND be vaccinated*

That seems perfectly on topic to me.

Do you have a different suggestion on why they lied to us and are trying to change the story now?

          * No because you didnt make a case for the Govt having lied to us – you oulled together some strands of opinion and presented it as fact. Provide the facts and your opinion and then we can discuss?*

          1. Gavin

Are you just questioning if they lied or not or are you questioning the point in the article about daily case figures for at least the last 10 months being incorrect? I can understand how they might be incorrect I can’t understand why it took so long to sort it out.

If the vaccines are the reason more positive tested people are not being admitted, then it is worth knowing the difference and the detail.
To assume to know the motivation is as you have stated is stupid.
Nothing discredit an argument more than assuming the worst motivations.
State your facts if you have any, assume nothing, and you’ll get your point across better.

While I don’t take issue with trying to get exact figures and accurate breakdowns, there is absolutely no way in this world that hospitals filling up with patients with covid as opposed to becase of covid is good news. It can exarcebate original conditions, it puts other patients, almost by definition vulnerable, at risk, not to mention the staff, though hopefully they’re all vaccinated we know it’s not 100%. Trying to spin this as not bad or nothing to worry about without considering the reality of the situation is despicable.

Everybody who championed the plight of cancer patients whose appointments and treatment were cancelled during lockdown need to have a good long look at themselves when they’re trying to make these figures a positive or a con, because the more medical facilities fill up with covid positive patients, the less likely they are to allow cancer patients, or any other high-risk individuals needing treatment, in, and God forbid anyone else has to unexpectedly go to hospital with something that will act as an underlying condition.
