Why am I not surprised by the so called “Irish” Mail on Sunday. That’s the best they can do for a picture for its front page? A picture of the British Prime Minister and his wife because they’re going to have a baby. I hope people give the IMoS what they deserve and not buy it. Be Irish, buy Irish.

If there is an Irish daily newspaper that isn’t full of the same,I haven’t seen it.

Is it correct that he injured himself celebrating his last win?
      If so, that’s a killer.

      1. Spud

Yep. Sprained ankle at the least.
What a terrible way to bow out.
Hope he doesn’t dwell on it too much.

yeah doing a Carruth no less after he won his previous bout…it’s hard to know what to say, he had a real shot and it would have been a great fight

rest of them gone south too

RTE’s big super sunday was a big fat zero

    What?
    No way!!!

    NO… wait, hang on…

    STOP deliberately confusing me., please.

Big Pharma aren’t shy of giving bribes are they?

Sure they’re a lovely bunch of Pro-vaxxers when you get to know them.

    2. Verbatim

May he hang his head in shame, but all he does is damage control. What a virus he is!
This does not negate all the hundreds of thousands who are out marching against tyranny, their hearts in their throat, terrified of being battered by the cops, in order to stand up for the right to remain autonomous over what goes into their bodies and that of their children’s.

        1. Micko

Did you actually read that entire article?

He literally says that not all people against Covid passes are far-right.

“ When the idea for using Covid certs for access to hospitality was floated, there was much public anger, from across the political spectrum, not just those who had been actively anti-lockdown.

Executive director of Irish Council for Civil Liberties Liam Herrick said that the legislation “will write discrimination based on health status into our laws”, while Labour’s Alan Kelly said it would create a “two-tier” system. So it is important to say that opposition to or support of the Health Amendment Bill is not strictly linked to a place on the political spectrum.”

          1. Daisy Chainsaw

But they’re useful idiots for the far right. These sheep turn up every other week to fash organised rallies and bleat paedo along with the rest of the crowd.

          2. SOQ

And that is all you can see now isn’t it? Nothing else matters- just your school yard politics.

          3. Daisy Chainsaw

What’s more school yard than screeching “paedo” at the president? Conspiraloons and fascists, two ends of the same turd.

      1. Joe

You can be treated for acute paranoia I would suggest you seek it
Fortunately millions of European citizens care about their families, friends and colleagues and the vast majority are happy to be vaccinated.

  3. GiggidyGoo

Today’s fun spot in the Indo.
Varadkar is questioning a junior minister about…….a leak.
Maybe he’s not questioning, but passing on some tips.
    ROFL!

    1. jungleman

You appear to have misread the article. He is questioning a cabinet minister. The interesting question is of course who is the minister but as usual you go off on a tangent just to have a crack at Varadkar. That’s your prerogative but you would have to wonder what it is about him that you dislike so much.

      1. GiggidyGoo

Even worse then eh? A Minister. Not a junior minister, nor a minister of state. That leaves
        Leo Varadkar
        Simon Coveney
        Paschal Donohue
        Heather Humphries
        Helen McEntee
        and, Simon Harris.

        Now, who could it be?

And, of course it’s my prerogative to have a crack at Varadkar (and Harris, Donohue, Martin, Donnelly etc). I don’t wonder about what I dislike about him. You may do do. That’s your prerogative.

        1. GiggidyGoo

Let’s try to discount ministers then.
Coveney – doubtful, seeing as he is tangled up in it.
Donohue – doubtful, seeing as he is tangled up in it.
McEntee – doubtful, as she’s away from matters due to maternity leave.

          That leaves:
          Varadkar – he has form.
Harris – eyes on future leadership.
Humphries – nothing to gain by stirring it.

          1. Bitnboxy

ROFL! GiggidyGums decidedly up to ninety with the Indo story and addled that Leo is not the leak! Auld lad Giggz appears to have it all worked out – he should be drafted in to “investigate”. Alas I fear the result may be Leo to be flogged by Giggz with at least 40 lashes.

Is there a cure for a low brow disgruntled mad auld lad with his last few teeth suffering from an acute dose of Leo-fever? Replies to GiggidyGums’ exasperated GP.

          2. GiggidyGoo

Oh – the article says the minister is a ‘he’.
Now we are down to two.

If Varadkar was questioning him, then we are down to one … Simon Harris.

Unless it’s just the normal bottle of smoke, complete with mirrors.

          3. GiggidyGoo

@Boxy. I delivered that load of baby cream yesterday you’ll be relieved to know. Better get it quick though, and plenty of it.

Shock: No pictures of something that didn’t happen.

The Chief Executive of the HSE has said that 10,000 people availed of walk-in Covid-19 vaccination centres around the country yesterday.

The clinics were established to encourage further uptake of vaccines and are open to those aged 16 and over who have yet to receive a first dose.

Speaking in Athlone, Paul Reid said that of the 10,000 people, around 5,000 would not have been registered on the portal, and around two thirds of them were under the age of 19.

      1. Micko

Cian, why would you be happy about a bunch of teenagers / young adults taking a medicine with no long term data?

          1. bisted

…in fairness…they must have used the same photographer who did the ratlickers picnic at the Aras…as advertised on Broadsheet a few weeks ago…

        1. george

Micko, can you give an example of a vaccine or medicine where side effects developed more than a year after two doses were administered?

    1. Micko

Suspended. Not banned. Takes three strikes to be banned.

I find the Sky News thing very odd.

Sky News UK is the antithesis of Sky News Australia, at least when it comes to toeing the line on Government policies.

      Murdoch’s playing both sides…

  4. bertie blenkinsop

That’s an unfortunate placement of “Ireland’s unluckiest family” under those photos on The Sunday World

The 100m women’s final gave me chills, the muted congrats to Thompson Herah was gaa! I would of loved to have seen Fraser-Pryce clinch it but what a result for her too.

Amazing work for Thompson Herah to break the Olympic record but when you look at the 100m record you have to question will it ever be broken even with the fast track and shoes. I see they are making a film about Florence Delorez Griffith Joyner, I wonder will they include the details of her enlarged organs from her autopsy or will it just be all very biased in her favour?

Delighted for the British triathlon relay team. Wonderful group of athletes, Alex Yes’s running at the end was on fire! Great to watch them all, class stuff.

      1. Birdie

Alex Yee… that will teach me to reread before posting. Wish you get the option to edit after posting on the mobile app as you do on desktop.

    1. Birdie

Yeah the whole Sha’Carri Richardson incident was terrible as was the Brianna McNeal ordeal. Cannabis shouldn’t be on the list but Richardson is at least making bank out of it all.

I’m really enjoying the Olympics, if you want to view it through a cynical prism (for example the ROC being part of it) then that’s your prerogative.

There are athletes there that have dedicated so much to their sport and I love seeing them achieve to the best of their ability, be that getting a medal, PB etc.

Anyhow just don’t watch it or read about it if it makes you so cross. Life is too short.

  6. Shayna

I’m confident that the majority of B.S. Commenters will join me in congratulating the new management team of Feargal Logan and Brian Dooher for Tyrone’s victory in the Ulster Final yesterday?

          1. Oro

I don’t know if I’d refer to their highest amount of infections in a day since the start of the whole thing ‘a bit of a spike’ haha. Anything you can do to minimize it I suppose. Fact is they opened up too early, as most US states are, but Florida did it to a more reckless degree. And now they’re paying the price.

          2. SOQ

Are they really? They’ve been wide open for over six months and given that they are known as the retirement state- they should have bodies piled high, if the propaganda is to believed.

People really need to ask themselves why they are so wedded to this nonsense- Sweden being a case in point. If it was all necessary, they should be top of the pops but are actually below 2020 European average.

They are doing just fine- they followed the science.

          3. SOQ

On September 25, 2020, DeSantis issued an order that effectively nullified public health measures imposed by various local governments in Florida to combat the spread of the virus. DeSantis’s order prohibited local governments from imposing fines or shutting down businesses for violations of mask mandates. The order also allowed restaurants to immediately reopen at full capacity and restricted local governments from ordering restaurants to operate at less than half-capacity.

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_pandemic_in_Florida

          4. Oro

There will still closures and various public health measures until May of this year sorry. Until that right wing nutjob DeSantis put a stop to any notions of treating the pandemic seriously. And now look where they are.

    1. Micko

      “Yee haw!”

Yee haw! Daisy?? Really “ Yee haw?”

That’s an odd response to the news that thousands of people have died – don’t you think?

I thought you cared about everyone? That was what you spouted constantly here during lockdown.

Giving out to anyone who questioned lockdown, accusing them of “willing to kill just so they could go to the pub”.

      Remember that?

Of course that was the old Daisy. Now you’re the “post double jab super dooper Daisy”.

      Different ball game now eh?

Turns out you actually care more about being RIGHT that anything else :p

      1. Daisy Chainsaw

Calm down dear. It’s too late in the evening to be dealing with your temper tantrum.

    1. Joe

Over 92 million have received a vaccination in Germany and over 43 million are fully vaccinated so a paltry 15 thousand try to extend the pandemic with their reprehensible behaviour so what is your point?
The good and decent German volk are doing the right thing in following public health measures, caring for their loved ones and fellow citizens by getting vaccinated
