not clear what’s the complaint here?
that antigen tests are a gateway to an event?
or that it was a self-declaration scheme on the result side of it?

Absolutely- nobody is going to go to an event after an infectious result. Vaccinated on the other hand could all be infectious without knowing it.

Ireland is completely out of step with international opinion on rapid antigen testing now, and nobody is being called to account for it.

… but you don’t believe in Covid as being a big issue in the first place so why would you take/want us to waste money on an antigen test..

        1. SOQ

Because it is the most accurate means of determining who is or is not infectious?

Why is the NPHET quango so against it when it is used everywhere else? Just this morning I spoke to someone who tests her entire company twice a week- what is so different about social situations?

I wouldn’t be too sure about that.
Those who think the fun police are out, will take the antigen test and go regardless of the result.

There are also those who wont take an adequate test sample because it hurts or makes their eyes water. Will get a negative test.

Self testing is only as reliable as those prudent enough to carry out the test correctly.

Yes, but even with all that in mind – theres likely to be as many or more fully vaxxed people who have it given the vaccine reduces your risk of acquiring covid from 2/25 to 1/25.
The unvaxxed get tested (even if some do it poorly) but none of the vaxxed are tested, despite being only half as likely to catch covid.

So people can be trusted in the north but not in the south is it?

It would be very rare for someone to knowingly risk passing it on to others- because most people are decent like that.

          1. George

Plenty of people have knowingly risked passing on the virus.
People knew they were risking passing it on when they attended indoor parties of unvaccinated people. You don’t need a positive test to know there is a risk, the nature of risk is that there is uncertainty.

“Absolutely- nobody is going to go to an event after an infectious result.”

Really, have you ever met people? They have been known to be quite selfish, even greedy so I can well imagine infectious people chancing attending a gig even though they are a risk to others.

i dont get the “think about it for 1 second” is there a pun on negative as in they are being very negativfe in allowing this. or is there a tom jones lyric there.

i would love to see TJ. But like knitting or afternoon tea, im not in the right demographic.

In days past women would throw their knickers at Tom. Today they throw their incontinence pads . Just a random thought
