      That’s an eye-opening article.
The US has created a well resourced army from the ramshackle dregs of the original Taliban. Courtesy of a stooge president with very questionable mental capacity.

Perhaps there is some intel that suggests the Taliban might end up in a conflict with either the Russians or the Chinese? Have them ready to go to cause their old rivals a large headache?

It would make sense alright but then I think this is the US military run by the US government (any government) so more likely its just another fupp up from them – Occams Razor.

haven’t the russians and chinese been sucking up to the taliban recently? china not least because afghanistan has a load of lithium it needs mining.

      2. Morning George

If the Taliban were to become a legitimate gov or atleast the recognised authority in Afghanistan whick looks probable, maybe the Americans would be in a position to say “well look here son, look at all those guns and ammo we gifted you, can you give us some mining rights in exchange and we’ll also promise not to drone assasinate you”.

ah, just like they did previously in Iraq when they made a “strategic retreat” leaving behind hundreds of APVs, tanks, humvees etc. for the ISIS boyos to use in Iraq and Syria.

definitely not Tinytim, the inventory includes massive current tech…

the likes of “Hellfire” missiles, latest greatest surveillance aircraft like PC-12’s and ScanEagle

        BlackHawks??

also M16’s, AK-47’s, M240’s, RPG’s, Howitzers etc. all work the same way they always did and will do so for another 100 years until armies have moved on to Startrek phaser’s

and they were taking delivery of new gear as recently as JUNE??!?!??

money doesn’t come into it – disposal in this situation means destruction/decommissioning

there is waaaay more going on here than we’re being fed

I’d say ian-oG above has the likely answer

        1. SOQ

In September of 2020, Trump released 5000 Taliban, including some major players, so whatever deal was agreed goes back to then.

          1. V AKA Frilly Keane

Mebbe that was all part of “The Plan”

            “The Storm” like
            ‘Cause its definitely derailed Biden

Could it be that Trump is a genius
And he really is still running the Oval Office

            Tink’ about it lads
Biden reversed loads of Trump’s decisions
            Except this one

            3D Chess moves

1 Give the Taliban back their lads
2 Stock them well up with kit
3 Get out of the place, with a few babies for the cameras
4 And let the Russians and Chinese try and put manners on the Warlords in woolie sandals

The Kracken offensive could well have been a subterfuge mission by hand picked local patriots that Trump knew he could trust
Like Lin and Sidney might just be war heros here
Letting themselves be virtually, professionally and financially sucided for their Country

            Something to think about anyway

Leo the Leak trying his usual playing to the gallery approach.

Any sign of movement on the case of his giving a confidential document to his matey?

    1. E'Matty

It’s Leo tryin to play the hero and win over younger more impressionable voters “Oh, Leo fought for our right to have EP. Let’s vote FG. They sound progressive”. The nonsense about bringing in the AG to solve this legal conundrum leads me to believe that I may have been correct yesterday when I said this whole Croke Park EP BS is just a little campaign to whip up some public support for expanding the vaccine pass to outdoor events.

    2. ian-oG

Not sure I’d describe it as his ‘usual’ approach, more like his ‘in a panic at public sentiment and needs to be seen to be doing something popular’ approach.

  2. Mr T

What is the attorney general supposed to find?
“Ooh hang on a second – this provision here buried in the legislation *actually* allows outdoor events up to 100k”

    1. eamonn

if that is what he is told to do – what indeed is a stooge to do only stooge.
there would seem to be a precedent set recently – or was I dreaming that too.
it looks more and more like a bad movie every day.
We need some square jawed hero types to clean house right about now…..
