It’s so sad to see people like that. There were all full of wonder and life when they were young. And now they’re paranoid freaks. What a waste of human potential.

    1. SOQ

Record numbers of people protesting in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Montreal, Melbourne and New York at the weekend, holding the exact same type of posters, but it’s only Dublin that was far right conspiracy BS is it? Of course none of the useful idiots will care to explain the difference.

As for the stunt outside Leo’s gaff- that is exactly what it was, and as it’s now covered by all the media- mission accomplished. It was beyond stupid and as cliché as it gets.

      1. Bitnboxy

So SOQ, you claim the “protest” outside Leo’s house in Portobello was a stunt / set-up? Are you that deluded? Nefarious forces rounded up the utter dregs of our society – ex-cons and permanent dole-scrougers to go shout “gays are pedos” outside Leo’s gaff?

        Crikey.

        1. SOQ

I’ve only seen one video and in that nobody was shouting ‘gays are pedos’- they were shouting something about protecting pedos, which is very different.

Of course it was a stunt- what else could it be? Anyone with half a brain would know how that was going to be reported in the media.

Now, would you care to explain what was so different about the Dublin protest and all the hundreds of thousands if not millions elsewhere, mentioned above?

          1. John

The low life dregs of society that were at the rally for “Freedumb and dumber’s” were exhibiting their stupidity and then later excreting the same hate speech filled inanities outside of Varadkars home.

Your useless and vile attempt at defending them is shameful.

          2. SOQ

Would either of you care to explain what was so different about the Dublin protest and all the hundreds of thousands if not millions elsewhere, mentioned above?

          3. Bitnboxy

Leaving aside the fact that you endorse this rank homophobia SOQ and you know very well what this feral lot meant, the fact you actually believe that this tawdry little gathering was set-up and masterminded truly reveals how do-lally you have become. Rather than sadness, I just pity you.

          4. Chris

See the repeated slur of ‘dregs’ – the people making this claim of course see themselves as ‘better’, following the rules, unquestioning of the stark reality unfolding before their eyes.
Maybe if I play along it will all go away? – they think. Or do they even think at all.

          5. SOQ

Anyone care to explain what was so different about the Dublin protest and all the hundreds of thousands if not millions elsewhere, mentioned above?

            Nobody?

          6. Tom J

All the others happened outside of Ireland, so I have no interest in them. Please feel free to move to any of these other countries.

          7. SOQ

How very parish pump parochial of you Tom J- mindless compliance is obvious a virtue in your insular little world.

Yes Fred I agree- but to admit that also acknowledges how tightly controlled the narrative is in Ireland.

    1. GiggidyGoo

Wasn’t the protest outside Varadkars place on Sunday. The protest above was Saturday. Did they stay overnight then?

          1. Daisy Chainsaw

Very defensive there. Your pals Andy Heasman and Dara O’Flaherty were at both. Lovely bunch of lads!

          2. GiggidyGoo

Not my pals at all Daisy.

I’m just dissecting your posts and showing them up for what they are. You come on here, all guns blazing, telling lies (as in the example above) and then when you’re called out, off you run behind the usual generalizations.

          3. Daisy Chainsaw

I haven’t lied. I’m showing antivaxxers like yourself to be a bunch of bigoted, agressive thugs.

Are you angry because you’ve been shown up?

          4. GiggidyGoo

The only person ‘shown up’ is yourself Daisy. You stated that the people who protested on Saturday ‘then they went to Leo Varadkar’s house to screech paedophile at him’. Downright lie. You have a severe problem of being incapable of telling the truth.
If you want to see a bigoted thug, look no further than yourself.

        1. Chris

Vaxxed, antivax etc did you know that these terms are but a few years old? Check Google trends for proof. They were astroturfed into existence so that halfwits could throw them around.

      1. Daisy Chainsaw

The same people who attended the ratlicker rally turned up at Leo’s house. What part of that is a lie?

        1. GiggidyGoo

You stated that the people who protested on Saturday ‘then they went to Leo Varadkar’s house to screech paedophile at him’. Downright lie. You have a severe problem of being incapable of telling the truth.

      1. Fearganainm

Has failed humanoid Craig started plucking his eyebrows? He’ll be shaving his legs next and then…

  2. Tom J

A very sad individual who still thinks Trump won. This is Ireland, Trump has FA to do with us never mind America.

    1. Cui Bono?

The Trump supporter is probably a plant to discredit the protest. It’s one of the oldest tricks in the book.

Trump and Biden are on the same team and both puppets.

      1. Nigel

‘Probably.’ This is what underlies almost all the conspiracy-type thinking – wish-fulfilment.

(Apparently there’s a Breitbart story doing the rounds that suggests that the liberals are deliberately trying to kill off Trump supporters by supporting vaccinations because they knew Trump supporters would have to go anti-vaxx to pwn the libs. Same logic.)

        1. K. Cavan

You apoear to be tres au fait with all the latest from Breitbart, QAnon, etc, Nigel.
You certainly know more about it than anyone who was at those protests, I’ll wager.
I suppose it’s useful to know about windmills if you’re going to spend so much time tilting at them.

        2. Cui Bono?

          That’s not true Nigel.

The core protest arguments are that covid does not have an IFR of 1% (it’s only 0.15%), lockdowns cause more harm than good, and there should be no coercion to vaccinate is all based on the raw data and scientific studies.

The problem is people like you are in denial and the masses are living in ignorance.

There’s no need to talk about conspiracy theories.

          1. Nigel

The problem is you don’t think that the 0.1% represents the deaths of over 4.6 million people so far is significant, and that was with lockdowns.

          2. Cui Bono?

            @Nigel
the lockdowns did not stop deaths, the virus got into the very places we were supposed to protect – hospitals, care homes. We focused to much time trying to protect everyone when most of us are not in anyway vulnerable. We should have just focused on protecting those that are vulnerable.

The 4.6 million number is over 2 seasons and includes 100,000s of people who died of other causes, not covid. We included people who never even had a test for god sake and in the US the hospitals were getting $13,000 for labelling them as covid.

It’s a statistical scam for $$$$ and power and you need to realise this.

          3. Nigel

            ‘hospitals, care homes’

Covid by it’s very nature of requiring treatment was always going to get into hospitals. ‘The vulnerable’ as a category are not confined to hospitals and care homes, and can be found in every part of society. Since covid got into care homes, and could not be kept out of hospitals, I don’t know what method you think would have worked to protect ‘the vulnerable’ other than lockdowns.

In fact, the figure is probably far higher than 4.6 million due to under-reporting.

        1. Cui Bono?

          @Daisy
as usual you resort to derogatory slurs.

You have zero understanding of the power structures that are at play here.

          1. Daisy Chainsaw

            It’s the lizards, isn’t it.

The lizards control everything… or is it the Jews… or are they one and the same?

          1. Poor oul divil

            Makes A Girl Actually Attractive?

Those Trump voting gals… bring all the boys to the get up the yard!

You just know they are going to be ANIMALS

  3. Dell

No pictures from outside Leo’s house bodger? Where the rest of the far right , covid denying, anti vax, anti mask nuts hung out? If the footage that I saw and heard was anything to go by , I think we can safely say that being homophobic and xenophobic seems to go hand and hand a lot with being a covid denying protester. Funny that… It’s as if the far right have deliberately clutched onto something say like, oh I don’t know, a pandemic? And used it and a gullible, fearful crowd to spread misinformation and push their own hate filled bile.

      1. Dell

Through the lens of conspiracy and the perception that somehow in doing this they are trampling on his feeedumbs

    1. K. Cavan

Keep up the demonisation, Dell, it’ll help you convince yourself that all who oppose the destruction of democracy & the bright neo-fascist future that Globalism has planned for us is, somehow or other, Far Right & that people like yourself, who are only following orders after all, are not Far Right at all, at all. Definitely not.

      1. Dell

I actually feel sorry for you . And I’m not saying that to be Nasty or mean . It must be really awful to think the way you do . To have that level of paranoia and such a completely negative, fatalistic view of the world and life. I hope you get help soon.

  4. White Dove

No one should be forced to take a vaccine without full consent. The right to bodily integrity is at the top of the rights protected by the Constitution. It is sad that things have reached the extent that it now requires considerable courage to point out this obvious fact. The media and our politicians merit chastisement for their role in provoking public fear in this debacle. I applaud those who are brave enough to point this out publicly.

      1. John

Their behaviour demonstrates a collective intelligence that is so low that if they throw a boomerang it would get lost.

    1. Ronan

These people are effectively protesting against being made to do something that they’re not actually being made to do?

I mean, the mask mandate and covid pass restrictions will be gone in a month in all likelihood.

This is at it’s core the stoking of paranoia. We see this through every crisis really – whether it’s freemen on the land representing vulnerable homeowners in court (and landing them in contempt or jail in many cases), or people blaming ‘the great replacement’ for a homeless crisis, or propaganda and a ‘scamdemic’ for loss of earnings/liberty or otherwise.

It’s always a great conspiracy, but if you join our little group you’ll understand the truth and they won’t be able to deny us our freedom etc etc.

I do feel sorry for everyone there. It must be exhausting to lurch from one imaginary oppression to the next, the jack boot of that guy with invisible hand and the all-seeing eye never far from your neck. I’d be extremely stressed if I had all that delusion weight on my shoulders.

We really need to more as a society around protecting those who are vulnerable in our society, be it socio-economically vulnerable, mental-health vulnerable, or indoctrinated in extreme religion – or any vicious circle among all of those that leads to this kind of shared paranoia. I see the people in the photo as no less vulnerable and misguided as flat earthers really.

      1. Chris

There is no conspiracy, just policy that is being blindly followed and enforced by those that are gullible.

      2. K. Cavan

        Really, Ronan?
You see these people as misguided, while you declare your utterly risible conviction that mask mandates & covid pass restrictions will soon be lifted?
My goodness, you are spectacularly naive, you aren’t even paying attention to the official narrative, you don’t even know your own side of the story.
        Hilarious!

        1. Ronan

I’m not on any side of any story.

I take in news, reflect on it, and draw a conclusion based on the evidence.

The difference between you and me is that I don’t believe hundreds of thousands of people can simultaneously plan and execute in the level of hoax and control experiments your are purporting to exist – and I also don’t even see how it would be to their financial gain.

We’re living in exceptional times, take a walk in the fresh air and/or otherwise do something that gives you a break from the worries.

          1. K. Cavan

News? You actually think there’s something called news, Ronan? How quaint.
You also believe that this “news” will furnish you with “evidence”?
The difference between you and I is that I’m aware that the concentration of obscene amounts of wealth in the hands of a few oligarchs, who sincerely believe & have publicly stated that the world can only be saved by massive population reduction, was bound to lead to the utter corruption of all our institutions & that is exactly what has happened.
You are miles behind the curve, you no longer live in the short, post-war experiment with democracy & consumer capitalism. It’s over, catch up.

          2. Nigel

Show me anyone who doesn’t think these things are true to one degree or another (neoliberals maybe?) Critiques of structural inequality and corruption do not justify the leaps into paranoid malthusian fantasies – in fact such leaps damage the credibility of anyone trying to adress real problems.

      3. Micko

“I mean, the mask mandate and covid pass restrictions will be gone in a month in all likelihood.”

You don’t sound that confident Ronan.

A better question is; why are the restrictions not gone now?

Like other countries, who have lower vaccination rates than us.
Are we ever going have better Covid figure then we have right now?

Cases in Ireland fell under 1000 a day in Feb and stayed under 1000 until mid July.

They’ve been at over 1000 cases a day since then with only a handful of deaths a day since April.

Vaccinations were seen as the key out of this for people at risk and now they are “less effective” even though they’ve kept most vulnerable people dying since April.

With so many changes on policy, so much conflicting information and things that make no sense at all, can you really blame these people for protesting?

        1. Ronan

The restrictions are still in place because the government are too chicken to be as aggressive as the UK. Partly because the consequences of getting it wrong impact more quickly given our under-provisioned bed capacity going into this crisis.

But that doesn’t mean we’re not going in the right direction, albeit slowly.

But yes, by and large I’m satisfied with the way the pandemic, vaccination rollout etc has been handled. I have no outrage, only sympathy for it’s victims – be it through economic hit, loss of life, or long term health impacts – mental and physical. There are no heads to roll on my list other than Holohan’s – but that has nothing to do with the pandemic and everything to do with his disgraceful performance on the cervical check scandal.

          1. Micko

“The restrictions are still in place because the government are too chicken to be as aggressive as the UK”

            I disagree, on that anyway.

I think that’s it’s because there too many invested interests pulling money out of the tax payer. making money hand over fist.

            “given our under-provisioned bed capacity”

How many beds have they increased the capacity by in the last 18 months? If saving lives was the goal – surely that would be prudent.

Sure they spend 122 million on Covid test alone last year.
            https://www.irishtimes.com/business/health-pharma/hse-paid-enfer-122-4m-to-process-covid-tests-last-year-1.4507934

“Clonmel-based Enfer processed the Covid-19 tests from its Kildare labs on behalf of the National Virus Reference Laboratory (NVRL), which is led by Dr Cillian de Gascun.”

Cillian De Gascon – hmmm…. what body does he sit on again?

          2. SOQ

Is that €480 MILLION on PCR tests correct? Really?

No wonder they don’t want antigen tests used- conflict of interests doesn’t even begin to describe it.

But sure its just a bunch of right wing conspiracy dregs eh?

            Pay no attention to them.

          3. Micko

Jesus I read that wrong, it was 122 mill to just one company

            Christ…

As soon as the government tender process went out the window it was game on for all these loo-laas

            Shock economics indeed

  5. K. Cavan

Look at the state of these cretinous commentators, apostles of the bio-security state, Bill Gates supporters, fans of Klaus “Anal” Schwab, psychopathic haters of Democracy & the right to protest, cheerleaders for unelected cadres of the wealthy fascist elites who own the WHO, WEF, EU, who use children as lab-rats & more, bullies applauding State imposition of toxic “medical” treatment for a common cold coronavirus, cheering on concentration camps for those unprepared to play Russian roulette with their health, scientific illiterates chanting “follow the science, it’s on the TV”, naive, ill-educated adult children who actually believe in the patently fake Pandemic, who actually swallow the transparently fake news, the amateurish propaganda of Irish State goons, TV zombies, obsessive-compulsive types, germaphobes, trolls & nazis, worst of all, delusional enough to believe that they’re on the side of Democracy as they celebrate it’s cremation.
It’s hard to fathom what resides in their dullard heads, some must be happy with the big push back towards Totalitarianism & the end of post-war Democracy, others must be gaming the more spectacularly stupid ones, believing their loyalty to the elites will grant them a seat on the lifeboat, the fools.
Is there nothing that can be done for these demented drones or are they simply too moronic or evil for rehabilitation?
These are the type of idiots who would’ve jumped the wall into East Berlin, shouting “Freedom!”, who would’ve enthusiastically shouted “Seig Heil!” as the Fuhrer’s motorcade sped by, who would’ve supported a demand for gay men to carry HIV-status passports in 1981.
What a rabble, please somebody change their nappies, the noise they’re making as they sit in their own ordure is unbearable.

        1. Daisy Chainsaw

Feeling up? You mean sexual assault.

Didn’t it turn out that he was bigging himself up, embellishing his intensity for dramatic effect and the sexual assault didn’t actually happen?

          1. Rosette of Sirius

Well it was 2017, the sheer amount of sexual assault allegations emerging globally and the #MeToo movement getting into full swing, one of Broadsheet’s very own ‘contributors’ couldn’t get caught up in any of those shenanigans now could they…

    1. Dell

Every cliche that came to your paranoid little mind and a nice dash of Goodwins law just to finish it off … Bravo.

      1. K. Cavan

Ah Dell, to accuse someone of cliche & then label them paranoid.
Jaysus, point the gun away from yourself.

    2. Ronan

I’m sure you keep this in a notepad file to copy/paste onto any forum you can find discussing the pandemic.

It’s an entire thread’s worth of every conspiracy cliché up to and including the Nazis, rolled up into one vomit. Handy to keep in a text file.

      1. K. Cavan

Ronan, 31,134 people died in this country in 2019. In 2020, the year we had a “pandemic”, 31,765 died.
Where’s all the victims of the Pandemic?
Do the arithmetic, if you actually believe the pandemic narrative you are entirely in denial of the facts or you’ve lost your grip on sanity. Which are you, dumb or mad?
The CSO website has all the numbers, it’s on the internet.
Stop posting your ignorant nonsense here, go look at some facts.

  6. K. Cavan

While the old adage that it’s easier to fool someone than to convince them they’ve been fooled does explain the refusal of so many to face reality and emerge from their childish disaster movie fantasy, the rabid demonisation of those who dare disagree with them, the school-yard name-calling, the ridiculous political aspersions, labelling people Far Right, referencing a Right/Left model that’s an anachronism from the last century, these speak of a deeper damage suffered by the Covid Cultists.
Their inability to face the facts, even seek out the facts, while blindly accepting a Pandemic Narrative from a corrupted media, a narrative that has been slowly but surely falling asunder like the tissue of barely-credible lies it clearly is, surely must be the largest display of cult-like psychopathy in history.
They trust the media as if it’s the 1980’s, they trust the government as if it still actually exercises power & has never, ever lied to them. Their utter naivety & childlike insistence on the veracity of a fairy story makes me ponder how many of them still believe in Santa Claus. Clearly, they’ve been belt-fed bullcrap from day one of this operation, yet very few of them seem capable of adulthood, of waking up & smelling the damn coffee.
These idiots are aiding and abetting their own destruction but not even self-interest can motivate them to awake from their comfort-induced stupor.
