    Vaccine thought for the day.

The protected want protection from the unprotected by making the unprotected get the protection that didn’t protect the protected.

      1. Jambo

None of this is how it works and if you still haven’t been able to comprehend how it works at this stage then please do not get the vaccination. Simple! Nobody is forcing you to and nobody wants you to. Enjoy!

        1. hmmm

The vaxx doesn’t work….And if nobody is forcing people to get it then wtf are the vaccine passports about? Why is there full blanket propaganda to “get the shot”? Why the lies about side effects? Why the urgency to vaxx children with an experimental compound that is still going through clinical trials (you are the trail)

Why are the vaxxinated the only people still worried about COVID?

          1. hmmm

Not opposed to actual vaccines – the ones that work and are released to market only after actually passing clinical trials.

These COVID things are not Vaccines (hence ‘the VAXX’) – they are Frankenstein concoctions released without viable safety trials and they work to alter the genetic code of those who take them.

Do you know what the ‘m’ stands for in mRNA?

            It stand for “modified”.

          2. Mick

I presume you’re being an idiot on purpose.
The m in mRNA does not stand for modified, it’s messenger. It doesn’t alter your genetic code, and there have been viable safety trials.

          3. Mick

I don’t even know why I’m replying, but anyway here goes:
“Messenger RNA (mRNA) is a single-stranded RNA molecule that is complementary to one of the DNA strands of a gene. The mRNA is an RNA version of the gene that leaves the cell nucleus and moves to the cytoplasm where proteins are made.”
National Human Genome Research Institute –
            https://www.genome.gov/genetics-glossary/messenger-rna
            No mention there of “modified”.

mRNA was first announced as discovered within weeks of the cracking of the genetic code during the summer of 1961, by among others Jim Watson (of Watson and Crick fame), Sydney Brenner and François Jacob.
See Current Biology from CellPress at https://www.cell.com/current-biology/fulltext/S0960-9822(15)00606-5

They also didn’t mention anything about modification of DNA or RNA.

This took me 5 minutes of googling, you should try it sometime, it’s a revelation

          4. SOQ

Just wondering- is there any sort of test available to tell who has received these experimental injections and who has not?

  2. GiggidyGoo

Wow. Budget Bonanza. No detail of course. The usual ‘thinking of’, ‘considering’, ‘looking at’ etc.
The only bonanza will be the increased tax income for the State. That’s of course unless some FF TDs grow a pair.

    1. Bitnboxy

What are you talking about GiggidyGums? You’ll ruddy well benefit with the “elderly bonanza”! And we’ll be paying…

      Sheesh.

      1. Kingfisher

Turn one part of the population on another and they’ll be fooled into bullying each other instead of tackling the politicians.
You’ve been fooled. You’ve officially joined the sheeple, Bitnboxy.

        1. Micko

While I wouldn’t use the word Sheeple, as it sets people off on one.

Yeah I’d have to agree. It’s an old game they’re playing.

But both sides are being played.

          There’s only two sides really.

          Us and our owners. ;-)

  3. GiggidyGoo

Surprise surprise. The HSE hasn’t learned from the ‘hack’. Sure not to worry. €420,000, Reid won’t be bothered.

  4. Rosette of Sirius

Alternate vax thought for the day….

Who’s up for the flu shot this coming winter?

I, of course, am getting mine in a couple of weeks.

    1. V aka Frilly Keane

I would Rosie, and will plan to anyway

but, and I’m half afraid to say this, but
my left arm is still very shook, but only at a particular rotation point and position

Not a crybaby, I push through all sorts of aches and cramps when I’m in or on the water
So if the right arm is ok with the Doc
      then yeah
      Bang me up

Not that I’m afraid of getting sick
Just don’t want to bring anything into my Dad’s space
And I’ve a leaving cert in the house this year as well
      so

      You know

    2. Daisy Chainsaw

My doctor’s surgery will be starting them soon, beginning with older patients and then onto people with underlying conditions. I hope to have it by the end of October.

    FYI Bake’Sheeters

    Cake Week

    Just a few things

What we know as the Maltana pan, lovely toasted btw, was last nights Technical, and as I said – if ye follyied me on the Twitter like, the recipe would be on the site by midnight, so give it a lash
    https://thegreatbritishbakeoff.co.uk/recipes/all/prue-leith-malt-loaf/

Its a basically a tea brack with some treacle and malt extract, and super easy, except for a bit more prep, like pitting fresh prunes. Have no clue about malt extract btw, I have never used it myself, this is where Martco was priceless btw. One thing about Loaf Tins, get the very very best you can afford. It will never let you down, and it will outlive us all.

T’was cake week, so its all about winners and messes, sieving one from the other, and who to watch out for, and zero handshakes.
Although I think we can predict the early leavers at this stage.

Thought the Vegan or the ‘Talian would take Star Baker
Tom had to go, although the detective was there or thereabouts herself
I did flag the German lad in a trailer a few weeks ago, as being all about precision
So Bikkies and Patisserie week might see something very special

Interestingly, Tom has a recipe hosted on official bake off site, it caught my eye because it has lemon
and ye know me with lemon, anyway, I think it’s worth a go as a Sunday Afternoon bake
    https://thegreatbritishbakeoff.co.uk/recipes/all/tom-classically-spectacular-cake/
    It says it needs skill
but that’s only for the finishing, or the faff, which you can go without anyway

But there was only one recipe out of the 12 signatures and 12 showstoppers I really wanted to see, and that was Rochica’s Apple all sorts of everything in her Showstopper. It doesn’t seem to have made the cut. But it might have made it to some of the fanzones, so if it crops up I’ll let ye know.

Something else worth mentioning, as I did throw up a recipe for a Swiss Roll
Mini Rolls, don’t bother, far to fiddly fecky and faffy, and they will all look different anyway

Stick to the basic Swiss Roll, and experiment from there

    Bikkies next week
so I’ll throw up the Covid Blocker Tumeric Cookies recipe I developed over lockdown #1 for ye next week
stick around for it, there’s dark chocolate in them.(❁´◡`❁)

    1. Daisy Chainsaw

My stomach is rumbling just reading this!

I’ll give it a couple of weeks before I decide who I’m getting behind, so far they’re all nice enough, but Tom’s cake didn’t defy gravity at all so he was an acceptable first leaver.

    1. V aka Frilly Keane

oh that will have some tale to tell
if it gets allowed that is

      and remember
His position in the Bank required him to be PCF’ed by the Central Bank themselves

My guess is a few sample charges will be the height of it

      Here’s the thing tho
In the US – everything he has would have already been seized

          1. Otis Blue

Ex-Davy and Quinlan Private alumnus too.

As you say, you’d have to wonder whether there’s any appetite to air the dirty laundry in public. Still, he’s had his collar felt so we’ll see how it plays out.

Doubt many ‘Rock lads do bird.

  6. SOQ

‘Wave of redundancies’ expected as Covid protections are lifted

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar said his department estimated that between 25,000 and 56,000 people could be laid off in the next three years, which would cost the taxpayer up to €130m,

    https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-40703324.html

If that is the government estimates then you can be certain it is going to be way above but ya know- far right something- something conspiracy- ratlicker something- something fascist- let’s keep focusing on the important things eh?

As long as it doesn’t affect your standard of living- then what odds eh?

          1. Otis Blue

It’s a while since M&S were any meaningful benchmark for quality. They’ve recently dropped 800 product lines from Irish stores arising from Brexit.

            Doubt they’ll endure here.
