Sadly, yes.
This morning.
Griffith Avenue, Grace Park, Dublin 9.
Dublin Fire Brigade District Officer John Mc Nally lights the fuse of a banger on the hand of a dummy – we shall call ‘Nigel’ – with horrific consequences during the launch of a Halloween fireworks danger awareness campaign at the Dublin Fire Brigade Training Centre.
He’ll never play the violin again.

That’s class :-)
…the use of scare mongering adverts on TV was all the rage years ago. Probably why some of us are more immune than others. ;-)
Also, Scarfolk Council are worth a look.

…don’t forget the perils of a lady’s man trap!
Warning, contains gratuitous scenes of feminine rug hygiene… :-D

Ha ha ha!
I’ve never seen that one, although I remember my Mam being paranoid about rugs and polished floors
Now I know where she got it from…
Isn’t the point that you’re not supposed to hold onto it?
Petty. Very, very petty.
Yep. And not very subtle either.
Bad form alright.
Low point alright.
I think someone needs to step outside and have a stern talking with themselves.
Oh, I thought it hilarious, as long as nobody was hurt in the exercise.
…me too…first time I ever ROFLed…
hahaha that particular shark was well and truly jumped, or should I say trumped some time ago
Try to keep up just millie
Nigel:
“You’re only supposed to blow the bloody doors off”.
Nah, it would be
Nigel:
“I do hope only naturally occurring potentially explosive materials found wild in nature were used in that IED”
I think in this metaphor, Nigel is the banger, the dummy is Bodger’s wounded pride!
Messing aside
those bangers are f’n curse
last year was the worst ever
it was non stop for over six weeks
Very sad to see how most dogs react btw
really cruel and heartless
OK for a full volley of fireworks that are over in 15 mins
But cheezus all the time is just too much
Have the Thundershirt ready to go
But if its anything close to last year I don’t think the elderly dog here will be able to cope tbh
And I know I’m always complaining about her
But it would break my heart
Especially if it was days and days of terror and shaking fear that killed her off
She is just too old now to expect her heart to cope
They started here in D12 around the third week of August, nothing relentless yet
But I’m not optimistic
Try these, worked for our collie last year.

Ta Paddy
Tried the snood – but it’s a 40 kg Bassett and she wasn’t having it
It’s the ears
Had some relief with the Thundershirt over New Year’s
And also
having telly radio music on throughout the gaff helps
And letting them up on the settee
Breaking palms for Nigel

I was happy to help. I hope you all learned a valuable lesson.
