Don’t know about this protocol, but with a good guess, what happens in the UK or elsewhere Ireland doesn’t lag behind.
There were definitely midnight calls to relatives asking them to agree to “Do not Resuscitate” March/April 2020 (at the height of the fear-mongering) in nursing homes/hospitals. Covid death was put on many a death cert.

      1. Micko

As someone who has had to place a DNR notice on a loved one, I don’t think it could be done as easily as a phone call. In my case it was a discussion with two doctors and written consent.

But maybe that need for written consent was waved because of Covid?

There’s going to be investigations for decades after this thing isn’t there… ;(

      2. Cú Chulainn

It’s a blessing.. although we are very far behind the UK who prescribe Diamorphine, which we still can’t do.. the right to die with dignity is still denied us..

Marcus DeBrun should take his alleged evidence through the civil courts with a civil case against the alleged perpetrators.

        1. SOQ

Marcus has consistently called for a public enquiry into the nursing home scandal. If anyone is to blame it is the politicians and civil servants who are trying to cover it up, especially the ones who decided that sick people be placed in those homes without any testing.

          1. ce

Yeah, looking forward to when the courts simply take place on Twitter… imagine the money we’d save…

        2. E'Matty

@Tom J – what kind of civil action do you think DeBruin should take where he himself is not the “injured party”. What would his standing be? The offences are actually more of a criminal nature, rather than a civil matter. These are effectively claims of mass murder of the elderly and vulnerable. A State run forced euthanasia programme.

          1. E'Matty

That would not provide him personal locusstandii to bring a civil action. To bring a civil action, he personally would have to show standing to bring the case, normally through showing personal loss suffered. If a family member was involved, he’d only have a fatal injuries case with limited right to damages. So, again, I’ll ask what kind of civil case do you believe DeBruin can bring?

          2. Tom J

The people who are alleged to have been murdered have families, so Marcus DeBrun should turn his alleged evidence over to the families.

          3. E'Matty

OK, so the families should bring a civil action then, not DeBruin. Glad we’ve clarified that.

          4. SOQ

There is more than a slight irony in the fact that the very same people who were screaming about killing granny are now the ones who don’t want any investigation into this at best, euthanasia.

Hypocrisy doesn’t even begin to describe it.

People suffered and people died through negligence and a callous disregard for the most vulnerable and elderly. It is not the responsibility of a single GP to bring this forth because it happened in multiple homes, a public investigation is warranted to ascertain the facts.

          5. SOQ

People in hospital were there for that specific reason, or at least was at some stage identified as such, and hopefully received the appropriate level of care. People in homes did not- there is a big difference.

You wouldn’t put a dog down the way some of those poor people died, and those responsible should be called to account.

          6. Papi

Weekend shift suggests taking a shift off.
You should look into that, Queenie, you must be knackered.

          7. SOQ

I’m very much energetic when it come to causes I believe in, passionate even.

Also very good in bed- men only.

          8. Papi

After your comment on the football thread, it might be time to put either the phone or the gin down now, Queenie. You already have no credibility, keep some dignity.

          1. Chris

There’s obviously no waking you up. You’d rather turn a blind a to murder than be inconvenienced by the thought.

          2. Tom J

You keep saying murder, if you are an alleged witness to murder then go and make a statement at your local Garda station, or take a civil action. Otherwise please be quiet.

          3. chris

You won’t tell me what to do, you won’t injure me with your ignorance. How about you stay off my threads.

          4. SOQ

What right do you have to tell anyone to be quiet? This is a very serious issue- if you are uncomfortable with the topic then just scroll on.

          5. chris

The evidence is in the article. Before Covid, the recommended dosage of Midazolam was .5mg in April NHS staff were told to give elderly patients up to 10mg – that’s 20x the dosage. This is a drug that used in executions, palliative care amongst other things.

I asked was a similar protocol in use here – cue cry’s of ‘conspiracy’ ‘wheres the evidence’ etc when this info was obtained by FOI requests to the NHS.

100,000 staff are walking away from the NHS, do you really imagine they’ve all become ‘ratlickers’ ‘tin-foilers’ or whatever other terms you all bark out when something doesn’t fit your narrative?

          6. Tom J

It’s an allegation not evidence. I suppose the 100.000 walking away will become truck drivers to help out with the petrol shortages.

        1. Daisy Chainsaw

Or maybe they have proper stories to break, rather than conspiracy theory bull poo.

Take your concerns and evidence to a legitimate journalist and see if they’ll run with it. Let us know the outcome… For the craic, like.

      2. Cian

DeBrun *is* one of those care home doctors you allege is “murdering” old people with “Midazolam”.

        1. chris

Is he? Did he admit to murdering patients with Midazolam? Perhaps you should contact Gardai with your claims.

  1. GiggidyGoo

All the ‘media’ flying the same government kites.
(Wasn’t Septic Phil forced to resign over leaking budget details?)

      1. SOQ

Anyone who thinks that is the end of the restrictions- especially only coming into the flu season- is either extremely naïve or wilfully ignorant.

          1. E'Matty

Nah, mostly innocent, naive and ignorant sheeple too afraid to face the reality of global power, instead preferring to comfort themselves with fanciful and deluded notions of a benevolent and caring billionaire class. History is filled with the most powerful putting the interests of the general populace ahead of their own, said nobody ever.

          2. SOQ

Opening clubs at the begining of the flu season when they should have been open throughout the summer, is deliberate.

Unless there is a unknown dynamic going on in Israel- the very same will happen here once the vaccines begin to wane. They will lock down again because that is their default position now.

          3. jungleman

@soq so they deliberately opened the clubs to keep the pandemic going? So they can continue with the lockdowns? Makes sense.

the English Premier League….dredging some amazing new lows:

The Saudi takeover of Newcastle United is a symptom of England’s political failures
    https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/oct/08/saudi-takeover-newcastle-united-england-football-capital

as commenter Shauny79 sez “Like everyone else, I wanted Mike Ashley gone. But not at any cost. Ashley is a purveyor of unremarkable sporting goods who didn’t invest enough in the team or support managers enough. The new owners commit war crimes and murder journalists. I can’t be a part of this any more…”

  4. Fearganainm

I see that the ultracrepidarians are still at it.

I wonder will they have reunions when this is all behind us and reminisce about who had the most severe delusions. They’ll probably blame Ivor McTinn for poisoning them.

    1. chris

      “When this is behind us…..”

Nearly two years in, multiple erroneous lockdowns, 93% of the adult population vaccinated, 20+ million ‘boosters ordered’, vaccine passports, emergency powers extended……

      Any day now…
      Delusions indeed.

      1. Fearganainm

You can’t be taken seriously because you come across as a pearl-clutching half-wit.

The 1918 influenza pandemic was still killing people in 1919 and 1920. You’re going to have to continue bleating hysterically for longer yet. You’re going to feel more than a little foolish when the sky doesn’t fall in – your demented theories are not going to come to pass.

I suspect that you actually know that, which makes your current mania all the more risible.

        1. SOQ

In Ireland we had no excess deaths last year- NONE. Even a cursory glance at the excess deaths of the 1919-20 flu should tell you that this thing is nowhere near in the same league- not even close.

          1. Fearganainm

It’s not about making comparisons – it’s about the chronology of things, things that have a beginning, a middle and an end. Varied and shifting reponses by various authorities are a part of the story too. Changes in approach as more information comes to light, ditto.

This too shall pass and then the hysterical conspiracy nuts and their inane conspiracy theories will have to find some other issue/s to froth and drool about.

          2. SOQ

Well the whole propaganda was and is about making comparisons?

The third largest populated country has a very low vaccination rate and is also doing just fine with old school medicine? India.

Big scare stories about Brazil now.

            Argentina next.

          3. Cian

Up higher in this thread there are accusations of mass murder.

Now you are saying there was no excess deaths.

            Which is it?

        2. Chris

Yet you’re the one frothing at the mouth at anyone that challenges you’re ridiculous notion of – ‘if I just play along, this will all go away”.

‘ The chronology of things’ as if you have even an iota of an idea.

          1. Fearganainm

Judging by your hilarious attempt to act the hard man above, warning people to get off ‘your threads’, you exude all the menace of a plucked chicken wearing a fez.

You are completely and utterly ridiculous.

I’m not sure if you’re even Irish but you should be aware that this island has quite the history of producing real conspiracies, some of which came to fruition with varying degrees of effectiveness, some of which were thwarted. We’re talking of real things here, not the mad messages that you receive from far away galaxies through the fillings in your teeth.

          2. Chris

Hardman? Warnings? I’m afraid you are reading far too much into things, I was responding to a rude request to be quiet in a gentlemanly manner.

The whole ‘completely and utterly ridiculous’ concept you wish to project would seem to be just that, a projection, a schism you have with reality – when you’re concept of it is challenged.

Read what I wrote again in reply to your comment. Isn’t it an accurate description of reality so far?

  5. Free Lunch

    Fake news.

Wotsits aren’t crisps, mate. A savoury snack perhaps. But not crisps. Definitely not to be put on the same shelf as Tayto.

Never liked them anyway. Over-rated, and you end up with your clothes ruined with orange-coloured stains. A bit like a night in Coppers.

    Should be banned anyway.

  6. Fearganainm

Nothing that you say has any correlation with reality. You’re a joke, and not even a funny one.

Go raibh biseach ort go luath.

And for the love of all that’s holy, use a spellchecker. Your illiteracy is tiresome.
