Thank Fabio it’s Friday.
Another week. Another music competition. An oasis of calm in a world gone frankly hatstand. You are most welcome.
I’ve still no voucher to offer but I intend to lay the esteem on pretty heavily next week to the winner. I want to know what is the song you find easiest to dance to and why.
Here’s mine.
Please include a video link where possible.
Nick says: Good luck!
Lines Must close on Saturday at Midday.

Duke Special – The Ice Cream Man
Last week, I asked for your favourite song that included trees or leaves in some manner.
Fergalito‘s entry, while skirting the rules, won my considerable esteem:
‘Not trees or leaves but all kinds of flora found in the Burren. This is a collaboration between the Belfast poet Michael Longley and Duke Special based on Longley’s poem “The Ice Cream Man” – it’s incredibly moving in my opinion, Longley wrote the poem about a man who had an ice cream shop in Belfast and was killed in the troubles. He wrote the poem for him and in this collaboration reads out a letter he received from the man’s Mother – a most treasured possession of the poet.’
Nick says: Well done Fergalito and thanks all.
Last week: Win Nick’s Esteem
The first that comes to mind is
The Peoples Choice – Let me do my thing

As the title implies…… in a nike styleee just do it.
This
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCDIYvFmgW8
Why?
Because of the combination of Bootsy Collins and Christopher Walken.
Also Norman did a good job…
…new or old, bootsy never fails to put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip…
New… Play with Bootsy.

Old… Hollywood Squares.

Yokes.
Dancing was/is all about the zeitgeist for me. As in when I was a teen it was most likely something to shoegaze along to…. then into adulthood most likely Teen Spirit or Mondays / Roses funk related.
Today tho, and it has to be disco and most likely from electronic dance music godfather Giorgio Moroder.
So let’s hit up Donna Summer’s most excellent and damn funky I Feel Love

Your best chance of seeing knickers when you were a youngfella
Thanks Bertie, coffee spewed all over my laptop from the laughter. Could have been worse though if I was still a jung fella and saw those knickers!
Ha! Or try to get behind the one you fancy!
Kruder & Dorfmeister – Bug Powder Dust
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ylcinUF-plg
If you listen carefully to the lyrics there is a reference to ‘Instagram’ – unless I’m mistaken? Bear in mind this was released in 1998.
Good tune, nonetheless. Always drives me out of my seat and on to my feet.
My mistake. Just read the lyrics – ‘Interzone’ apparently. Always heard it as Instagram!
Not the first time for that to happen – Misheard lyrics.
Aw shucks…
Thanks Nick, I shall bask in the glorious radiance of your brilliant esteem until this time next week :)
Bask you shall.

God be with the days when you were defined as a Rude Boy or a Nutty Boy depending on whether you had scrawled Madness or The Beat on your school bag, in marker.
I still judge people like that!
Rude boy!
And just now saw that Everett Morton the drummer has died.
The days to be with God.

Love the bass on this, love how groovy it is, love how I always want to play it twice in a row. When I hear it the bones in my body feel like they’re assembling themselves for a dance floor breakdown.

Tried to dance to that in the car on Thursday. Not a great plan. Great tune though.
I have a problem. I do not have a song easiest to dance to, even in the kitchen, I have only one song I will dance to, anywhere!
Vuli Ndlelea, y the incredible, but sadly passed, Brenda Fassie. I have gone to pubs and discos across Africa and asked for this. The smiles I got when I did showed how popular she was, and how glad the were a musungu knew her. I saw the lady live at a New Year’s bash in Nairobi. If you want to feel the music, dance with a thousand other fans all bopping.
And the song is about her son getting married. My daughter wants to get marrried some day. I will ask her can this be our song?
