Wishing For “A One World Dictatorship”

at

Green Party leader and government minister Eamon Ryan

This morning.

Via RTÉ News:

Green Party leader Eamon Ryan has said he does not expect to see the reimposition of Covid-19 restrictions, despite growing case numbers.

Minister Ryan said he believes that this view was shared by all present at a meeting of the Cabinet Covid Committee last night, which was attended by Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan.

The minister said personal and sectoral responsibility was important to manage the disease.

Ryan does not expect restrictions to be reimposed (RTÉ)

Meanwhile…

Yikes.

    maniac?
nah a bit like Ole Gunnar Solskjær he’s a mild mannered plonker that’s found himself fortuitously at the main control panel
how anyone thinks the likes of Eamon Ryan can lead a transformation project is beyond me

Ah c’mon – seriously, this is evidence that Éamonn Ryan (whatever you think of him) wants a one world dictatorship? That’s stretching the boundaries of credulity. We live in a deadpan, humourless society if that’s the case.

    1. Tom

He literally says that’s what he wants in order to force through his policies. I mean, it’s literally what he says. Is it an attempt at humour? Well, he’s giving a political interview, and everything else about what he says he obviously means. Plus it’s not particularly funny if meant in jest. I’m inclined to file under *evidence that he’s not horrified by the idea*.

Which isn’t good – as it is a horrific idea.

      1. Fergalito

Well a one world dictatorship is an horrific idea, no doubt.
I don’t buy this as solid evidence at all for that. Not in the slightest.

Was he asked a question in that context? 13 second clip … not what you’d call robust.

Haven’t most or at least some of us all supposed in jest what it would be like if we were in charge “come the revolution” and how we’d adjust things to suit our narrow views on how society should function? Maybe it’s just me …

Anyway, i’ll dwell on it no longer – new pixels please !

          1. Fergalito

Sweet Jesus – it’s from 2014 and i read some of the replies and had a look at yer man Bowden’s profile and we’re all shagged if this is what passes as the bass for serious discourse or as a catalyst for rational, reasoned conversation or evidence of anything other than the inner voices of timid minds.

What joyless, out-of-tune banjo sound-tracked corners of the world there are.

      +1 Fergalito

Eamonn is a gobdaw, but he was just saying the dictatorship version of “If I was king, then I’d do this”,

      Nothing to see here.

There is however something to see about how his brother’s (Dr Robert Ryan) business ‘Medmark’ got all those contracts to do the PCR and Antigen testing for all the pilot events, teachers and more around the country.

Still, at least Eamonn avoided the priesthood. ;)

“That used to be quite common, you know? The favourite son would become a doctor, and the idiot brother would be sent off to the priesthood.”
“Your brother is a doctor, isn’t he Ted?”
      “Yes”

Yesterday we had Stephen Donnelly declaring war on the unvaxxed..

      Antis love their hyperbole.

“Green Party leader Eamon Ryan has said he does not expect to see the reimposition of Covid-19 restrictions”

But all of you conspiracy goons in here have been screaming blindly for the last 18 months that these restrictions would never be lifted ?
    THEY’LL NEVER TAKE MY FREEDUMS!

So, obviously, you now must flail hysterically in another direction. Let’s check the Quanon guidedbook… oh, it says move directly to Climate Denial via a brief detour into satanism.

    1. Bodger

Not so fast: ‘Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has warned that the situation would get worse before it gets better as the number of Covid-19 cases over the past week is the fourth highest since the start of the pandemic.’ RTE this morning.

      1. Nilbert

And indeed the situation could get worse…God forbid the health services might respond to that!

In the same manner that restrictions were almost entirely lifted after a few months of relative calm.

This is what happens when people make their best effort to respond to an extremely complex and evolving global pandemic in a measured way, with the best scientific advice available, rather than basing their reaction on conspiracies, ideologies, and beliefs.

        1. E'Matty

“with the best scientific advice available, ”
Masks for all, lockdowns, vaccine passes, none of these were based on scientific evidence. They are all politically motivated. It’s because people like you think the WHO or NPHET represent “Science” and are not politically and financially controlled organisations with political agendas that you think anything we do is right, simply because it’s coming from one of these official sounding organisations.

          1. Nigel

There isn’t a single, plausible political motivation for any of those, just a load of hand-waving and hysterical bad-faith responses to stuff like the post above.

    2. E'Matty

Ah, Nilbert seems to have missed the part where the Vaccine Passes were extended to Feb, at least. You lads all assured us they were temporary and would be gone after Oct 22. “THEY’LL NEVER TAKE MY FREEDUMS!” Yeah, they are literally creating your digital prison before your eyes and you’re cheering them as each bar goes in place.

This video is from 2014, it makes me sick that his plans for a one world dictatorship are only coming to light now, that nobody on this site or elsewhere has put a stop to them in the 7 years since is simply disgusting.
Best response in twitter thread ‘The entire world needs to fight these crazy “elites” as they call themselves! Pure evil!’
If now is not the time to rise, I dont know when will, sadface.

And this “World Health Organization calls for global governance against pandemic”
      https://www.business-standard.com/article/current-affairs/world-health-organization-calls-for-global-governance-against-pandemic-121091100077_1.html

      Or this
      https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/social-sciences/global-governance

“In its current conception, global governance implies democratic governance. However, the reliance on scientific and professional bodies to set standards, rules, and procedures, on bureaucratic agencies of the state to implement policies, and on voluntary organizations to monitor compliance, none of which are based on democratic principles of representation or equal participation, raises questions about the compatibility of democratic values and the concept of global governance.”

Christ the fact people take this at face value says more about them than Eamonn (don’t get me wrong he’s a bellend), clearly hes saying if we lived in magic unicorn land and had wishes falling out our poop holes

    1. george

They don’t take it seriously. They understand exactly what he is saying they just choose to argue in bad faith.

    2. jungleman

The alt-right loons fully understand that he was speaking in jest but it suits the world view they have adopted to take his words literally. But they’ll tell you that when trump told the Capitol Hill rioters to “fight like hell” he obviously didn’t mean storm the Capitol.

  7. Ah sure jaysus you know yourself

Ryan proves the flaw in our “democratic, proportional representation” system. Absolutely nobody voted for his party yet he’s at the table. How! Might be time to add a little minimum count clause for political parties(say 10%) before they’re allowed form a government. Independents could remain exempt.

    1. bisted

…trouble is, loads of people voted for his party…and it is his party…I feel sorry for those who voted green or included them in their transfers thinking they were voting for change…they were betrayed and lied to…but the notion that waffler Eamo would come up with anything that FFG would pay the slightest bit of heed to is laughable…back to sleep Eamo…

          1. bisted

…I feel the movement for change have missed their chance for at least a generation…labour will take the place of the greens next time and a hotchpotch of indos after that…ands thats before FFG have to rely on the genepool…

    https://public.wmo.int/en/media/press-release/greenhouse-gas-bulletin-another-year-another-record

‘Geneva, 25 October 2021 (WMO) – The abundance of heat-trapping greenhouse gases in the atmosphere once again reached a new record last year, with the annual rate of increase above the 2011-2020 average. That trend has continued in 2021, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Greenhouse Gas Bulletin.

‘Concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2), the most important greenhouse gas, reached 413.2 parts per million in 2020 and is 149% of the pre-industrial level. Methane (CH4) is 262% and nitrous oxide (N2O) is 123% of the levels in 1750 when human activities started disrupting Earth’s natural equilibrium. The economic slowdown from COVID-19 did not have any discernible impact on the atmospheric levels of greenhouse gases and their growth rates, although there was a temporary decline in new emissions.

‘As long as emissions continue, global temperature will continue to rise. Given the long life of CO2, the temperature level already observed will persist for several decades even if emissions are rapidly reduced to net zero. Alongside rising temperatures, this means more weather extremes including intense heat and rainfall, ice melt, sea-level rise and ocean acidification, accompanied by far-reaching socioeconomic impacts.’
