The System Works

at

Oh.

Last night.

Meanwhile…

Via RTE News:

The Government is aiming to pass a single piece of legislation before Christmas that would combine the public health measures scheduled to expire on 9 February.

The measures include the requirement to wear masks in certain places and the rules around Covid passes for hospitality and international travel.

A Government spokesperson said the legislation is to ensure the State can react to the pandemic and Government would not look to have these additional powers for longer than necessary.

However, it does raise the possibility that the measures could be extended at some point beyond 9 February.

“A Government spokesperson said the legislation is to ensure the State can react to the pandemic and Government would not look to have these additional powers for longer than necessary.”

Isn’t that exactly what they said when they extended the current legislation till February?

As for the covid pass not including test results, I can see logic there. As current events have proven, even PCR test results are inconclusive and thus can be safely ignored /s

But antigen tests are accurate in telling who is actually infectious?

And, if vaccinated are just as infectious then what is the point of passports anyways?

I was being sarcastic, referring to our smart government undermining all trust to PCR testing by their own actions. Personally, I’m all in favor of antigen testing – the more the better. With contact tracing essentially collapsed for the second autumn in a row, antigen testing could take at least some positive cases off the streets.

I wasn’t even going near COVID measures, just other reasons why someone would go to London instead of Ireland.

@Cian I wasn’t making any statement on infections, just the double standards of Ms Ingle who clearly supports such segregation- but like Leo, and others, for the great unwashed only. If anything your point highlights the hypocrisy even more.

A lot of tweets flying around about Trudeau doing the same thing in a bar in Holland of course- not a mask to be seen.

I think my post highlights that Covid kills children.
Something you and your ilk have been in total denial of.

          4. SOQ

Like all viral infections there is outliers but in the main, it does not affect children to any great extent. How many of those children had comorbidities?

And- how many will die or be injured from vaccines? That data set will be buried very deep and probably never see the light of day of course. Yellow Card can only report what is entered into it.

          5. Zaccone

Every child in Ireland was at statistically significantly higher risk of drowning, or dying in a car crash, than dying from covid in 2020 or 2021.

Surely given that we should ban all children from being in cars or swimming Cian? Just if we’re being logically consistent in our pearl clutching about impossibly rare events.

            @Zaccone
um, as far as I’m aware we do an awful lot to reduce the numbers killed by drowning or in cars. Lifeguards on beaches, mandatory seatbelts, car-seats, ensuring minimum car standards, NCT etc.

And we did lots of things to successfully prevent people dying from Covid (see practically post on broadsheet for last 2 years).

No they haven’t. Roisin Ingles Twitter followers have spoken. Hardly a fair reflection of Irish society. She’s not exactly popular with many under 50. It’s the crank oldies element like yourself.

Daisy, Daisy, give us your answer do, I’m half crazy, although my psychiatrist has a different view and thinks I should be in a straight jacket.

500 votes on a twitter poll are not representative of the population at large.
Twitter users have a certain bias, twitter users who follow Roisin Ingle no less.

Well, I’m going to look at the positive and take the “Stupid Questions” people as being against the passes.

That means that about 22% of people who were asked are either against the passes or unsure of them.

This is 22% after months and months of non-stop state sponsored fear, propaganda, finger pointing, curtain twitching, arguments, worry, virtue signalling celebs etc and STILL 22% aren’t on board with this madness.

I think that’s a great result and a testament to human resolve and just elfin mental toughness.

It’s almost 1 in 4 people – you fupping legends!

Hell, after the last 20 months, I’d take the 7% of people who outright say “Yes, it’s wrong” as a positive sign.

There’s life in the old girl yet ;)

            Nah – Northdoide.

I’d tell ya where but the Stazi on here would be onto to the blower ratlin them out ;)

Unvaccinated morons should be excluded from society as far as we can without treating them like lepers.

I wonder does it ever occur to you when busily engaged in your political one-upmanship that they’re your rights and civil protections too? You take such glee in persecuting those you consider your political and cultural foe yet seem utterly oblivious to the fact you are at the very same time dismantling and destroying your own Constitutional rights, protections and freedoms. Quite strange to observe in action tbh.

Insulting people is a great way to bring them on board, not. Sure don’t we all like to be belittled and reduced in our humanity because we wont take the brew from lying governments and the evil that is pharma.

What they have never done, and will never do, is define what has to happen for these powers to be no longer “necessary”.

ah it’s taken me this long to figure out if you were serious in some of your comments

Can’t get over the number of people who think an organization that is there to protect YOUR rights has no idea what it’s talking about when it comes to Civil Liberties, I’m sure Joe Soap knows best though…and people wonder how dictators come to power.

In the long run I’m not sure I care, I don’t have kids, and if the general populace isn’t concerned about their future why should I waste the time on it.

It will have an end date. And then another post kind of mid flow starty start date, then stop starty right on into the next millenium. And that’s the covid pandemic measures & restrictions in the interest of public health forecast this Thursday morning. Remember to have your timers at the ready, as no-one knows how this reworking of time metrics & stop startiness is going to pan out – so best to have some kind of record of your own – allusions to an old Leonard Cohen LP. Jane coming by, and time tick tocking tock tock tock tock …. tock.
