Thank Frodo it’s Friday.
To honour the passing of the legendary Ronnie Spector of The Ronettes, the theme for this weekend’s voucher-less free-for-all is: what’s your favourite song by a girl group?
Here’s mine.
Please include video links if possible.
Lines close on Saturday at MIDNIGHT.

Bon Iver- Blindsided
Last week, I asked you to name your favourite song about or mentioning snow. Point Of Order won my esteem with this entry:
“It brings me back to when I had my heart broken, while living in a bedsit in Portobello, listening to Bon Iver on a loop. ‘I crouch like a crow/ Contrasting the snow…’’. My heart has since healed.”
Nick says: Congrats Point Of Order and thanks a million to all the commenters for your kind comments last week.
Last week: Win Nick’s New Year Esteem

Congratulations to Point of Order
The Go-Gos – Our Lips Our Sealed

A perfect pop song from the perfect pop song factory. It’s short, it’s catchy and will remain in your brain for the rest of the day; in a good way.
That’s a tough one.
I always had a soft spot for the Sugababes first single from 2000 – Overload.
The rest of their stuff wouldn’t be my thing – but this debut is just class

Hello Micko
I’ll see your Overload and raise you Freak Like Me from Sugababes Mk II. Based on all that is known about the group’s dynamics this video appears to be a representation of the members’ relationships.
https://youtu.be/dSAGsiVSoeE
Ooooh. That’s a pickle. Probably is a good representation of the band alright.
But musically;
While I like the Sugababes version of the Adina Howard track, for me it was a bit too soon for a cover. (Only a few years previous)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdyUqqRfUMk
Plus, the sample from Gary Numan’s (T.A) ‘Are “Friends” Electric?’ is a bit much.
The Sugababes works alright, but the entire tune is relying on the bones of two other songs to prop it up IMO. ;)
Little bit of background on that one, it was originally a mashup (I know cringe) of the two songs (with Adina’s vocals) by Richard X, and the babes just literally re-recorded it as if they came up with the idea.
Something we can agree on :)
It has to be the catchy as hell Manic Monday written by the Genius Prince and recorded by The Bangles. The piano motif in the song is something else. https://youtu.be/SsmVgoXDq2w
Without a doubt it’s ‘The Chicks’ (formally Dixie Chicks) ‘Goodbye Earl’, a song about an abusive husband getting his comeuppance.

On the Bangles theme, Walk like an Eyyptian
