If The Russians Loved Their Fish Too [Updated]

at

This morning.

The Russian Embassy, Orwell (!) Road, Rathgar, Dublin 6.

Two of our best.

Earlier…

This morning.

O’Connell Street, Dublin 1.

They’re going in!

Patrick Murphy (left), CEO Irish South and West Fish Producers Organisation (ISWFPO), and Brendan Byrne, CEO of the Irish Fish Processors and Exporters Association (IFPEA), in the lobby of the Gresham Hotel before leaving for their meeting with Russian Ambassador to Ireland, Yuriy Fillet-ov Filatov in the Russian Embassy to discuss the welfare of marine life during a proposed military drill off our south coast.

Godspeed, gentlemen, and, when offered, refuse both the vodka and the ‘fish egg’ delicacy. You’ll thank me later.

Sartorially speaking, it’s a dogs dinner. Bursting out of it, the pants are defying gravity and a sloppy half windsor with an open collar. Hard to be taken professionally serious dressed like that.

He’d have been better off in a yellow oilskin.

It’s a carefully chosen ensemble of well fileted out insouciance with a clever nod to both the ambassador’s name and the babushka concept.

What were you expecting? A furry hat?

        Jeans would be too American.

I bet that copy of Skipper handed over to the Russian ambassador will be put on file.
    In a filing cabinet.

I’ll get my oilskins and sou’wester…

    What a comedic week.

2 lads bring a dead man to a post office to collect their pension
Now 2 fishermen, whose job it is to kill fish, meet the Russian Ambassador to pretend that they are very concerned with the welfare of fish, presumably so they and not the Soviets get to do the killing.
