The flagship didn’t sink it was a ‘super successful strategic de-flotation mission’ duh! As it sank, I mean de-floated, it crushed 200 scuba-Nazis and 6 underwater bio labs, so there!

The Russian fleet is to have a refit with glass bottom keels so their sailors can see the rest of their Airlix navy on the seabed. – seems Belarus are gone a bit squeezy bum and all is not well in Kaliningrad (500% inflation) – too much winning

Stephen & Broadband are getting all excited, like two kids, watching a movie, I think both have convinced themselves that if they wish & wish & wish real hard, that the Baddie, Putin, boo, hiss, will be beaten by the Goodie, er, Zelensky, hurrah!
It’s really lovely to see, like witnessing the bubbling excitement of toddlers on Christmas Eve. Have they been good little boys? Is Santa on his way?
Those lads in the media have it easy with minds like these, just grist to the mill, Cavan-fodder.
Why does stephen think Muslims are ragheads?

Stop sobbing over Putin’s losses Kremlin Caveman, it’s embarrassing. I’m sure he has plenty more ships to commit war crimes with, he’ll be fine.

          1. Me So Harney

The only one losing is NATO.

Putin has reached his objectives and had the whole thing subsidised by the EU.

Now he’s winning the propoganda war.

          2. paul

Putin doesn’t really have all that many large warships like the Moskva (which was built in Ukraine). Sure they can barely keep their fleet from before the fall of the Soviet Union going.

          3. Broadbag

Me Soviet Harney to the rescue, it’s all going swimmingly, de-flotation major success, many civilians slaughtered, much winning, hail Putin!

          4. Me So Harney

It’s all finished zealots, all that’s left is embarrassment and failure for NATO and its illegal mercs..

          5. paul

They mattered to Putin, who caused and funded and armed the conflict. He loves causing death and destruction.

          8. Nigel

Which argument is nullified? have the thousands and thousands of people Putin murdered suddenly come back to life?

          9. Me So Harney

Or the documented thousands massacred in the donbass by Kiev shelling over the past 8 years.

That’s why your argument is nullified.

          10. Nigel

No, those bodies get added to Putin’s pile, which makes the argument you seem to be making, that those killings justify the current killings, even skeevier.

          11. Me So Harney

And why are the 26000 dead Russian speaking Ukrainians, shelled for 8 years by Kiev, lumped in with Russia’ body count?

          12. Nigel

Because Putin funded and armed mercenary groups – actua lNazis – to start and fight the conflict.

          13. Me So Harney

How did Putin kill 26000 Russian speaking Ukrainians when Kiev was shelling donbass for 8 straight years?

Canada failed when it trained Ukrainian troops linked to the far right, says Nazi hunter

A top Nazi hunter and Holocaust scholar says Canada failed when it allowed Ukrainian military personnel connected to far-right groups to receive training as recently as 17 months ago.

Efraim Zuroff of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Israel said in an interview … that Canada failed to properly monitor its own military training program. “The Canadian government didn’t do its due diligence,” he said. “It’s the responsibility of the Canadian defence ministry to know exactly who they are training.”

“There is no question that there are neo-Nazis in different forms in Ukraine, whether they are in the Azov regiment or other organizations,” he added.

    https://ottawacitizen.com/news/national/defence-watch/canada-failed-when-it-trained-ukrainian-troops-linked-to-the-far-right-says-nazi-hunter/wcm/cd79a966-0b2e-4251-83af-50627cdbd699/amp/

So with the full knowledge that the Canadian Army had been training the real deal in Ukraine, Trudeau was accusing the most peaceful large protest in Canadian history of being Nazis. The deputy prime mister Christina Freeland has an interesting pedigree in this regard of course.

    1. K. Cavan

Well, given the hard-right, neo-fascist tendencies of the cuckold, Justin Trudeau’s minority government, I can’t see how the presence of Canadian trainers working with Neo-Nazis doesn’t just make perfect sense, really. They worked alongside US & UK NATO personnel, bringing 5 battalions per year up to NATO standard, in a “Peacekeeping Centre” with a sign outside showing a map of Ukraine, with an arrow pointing to Donbas, the destination of these troops.
The sign is long gone, however, the Russians hit the place with 5 cruise missiles, a couple of days into the invasion.
I’ve seen some of the stuff those Nazis get up to, I hope they didn’t learn all that War Crime stuff, like crucifying POWs, from NATO.

      1. SOQ

Canada has quite the history in that regard. Approximately 2,000 Nazi war criminals slipped into Canada after the second world war so Trudeau would have known that was a sensitive subject to begin with. He also knew there was no truth in calling the truckers Nazis of course, but sure truth is clearly not something that bothers him too much at the best of times.

Christina Freeland’s grandfather was a fully paid up Nazi and was the chief editor of a Nazi newspaper in occupied Poland. She also went to university in Ukraine and is fluent in Ukrainian, so the claim that training Azov Nazis complete with their sewn on symbols was an accident, is BS of the highest order.

This background is here important in understanding not just Trudeau’s tyrannical behaviour but also their current support of the puppet clown Zelenskyy in Ukraine. It wouldn’t surprise me if the US were not the only ones up to the dodgy Bio Lab shenanigans.

            ‘Kiev shelled the donbass’

Oh dear, Aunty Botty, your personal critiques & insights are as wide of the mark as your takes on current affairs. I made one remark about aliases, never said anything much about Trump, not sexist, not SOQ. Your attempts to demonise SOQ are equally lacking in validity, don’t ring true & just demonstrate that you’re not a people person.
Myself & SOQ clearly share one common attribute, we’re both far too humble for our own good.
Your post is Tripe in White Sauce.

    2. Tom J

Your definition of most peaceful is very different to everyone else’s. What makes you think there were no Nazis among the truckers making all the peaceful noise. Maybe the Canadian army trained the truckers as well.

      1. jonjoker

Unfortunately, there could be Nazis anywhere, even walking down the street next to you or sitting beside you on a plane.

There may well have been Nazis or at least fascists at the Ottawa protest – as I’m sure there are at almost every anti-establishment protest these days, as they try to beef up their “anti-establishment” credentials. It’s a tried and tested means of infiltrating with a view to taking over a movement in order to turn it into something else.

There could have been plenty of alt-right sent up from the USA. In other words, fascists.

      2. K. Cavan

You see, Tom J, the fascination that Wokists have with fighting the battles of the past is telling. Nazis, Fascists, well they don’t really exist, outside of NATO in Ukraine, these days. They’re also obsessed with slavery, which is alive & well in Africa & W Asia but an historical matter, elsewhere.
This allows them to live in their fantasy world, ignoring real life problems & pretending they’re some sort of freedom fighters, by labelling all who dare disagree with them with anachronistic slurs.
If actual Nazis existed in the West, sure they’d chew up Wokists & spit them out.

Energy import ban will hit Germany harder than Russia, unions warn Berlin

“I believe that stopping [energy] imports does not make sense at all,” Hoffman told German broadcaster ARD.

The official warned that “the economic consequences for Europe and Germany would be much more serious than for Russia,” highlighting that the ban “will not affect events in Ukraine.”

The German government hasn’t got very long left. Every government who’s joined in with these sanctions should be got rid of, asap, it’s a matter of life & death. This is a very deliberate attack on the citizens of Europe by their elected politicians, they’re out to finish the job they started with the fake pandemic lockdowns, by destroying SMEs & eventually, entire nations.
Remember how our governments used to be so obsessed about “The Economy”, it’s health was of vital importance to them, it informed every decision they made. Now, they don’t give a toss, print money, pile on the debt, while cutting off energy & food supplies to their own citizens.
Anyone who witnesses this & fails to realise that things have changed, fundamentally, that the life they’ve known is being done away with, is very, very dim.
      Welcome to The New Normal.
      You will own nothing.
It’s just entirely coincidental that our government is working on a bill to end property ownership. It’s good to see the government being so responsive & to be bowing to the demands of the people to have their property rights removed, immediately, they’re such a burden. Anyway, if they can’t fix the referendum, they’ll just announce that next year’s property tax is 100% of your home’s value, checkmate.

Latest news is Germany is upping llignitr production to power its brown coal power stations

These are the early warning signs of a refugee catastrophe in Ireland that I was the first to warn about on here weeks ago.
600 Ukrainians refugees arriving EVERY DAY with no limits on numbers or time frame.
I asked then and I ask again now – where do you put 100,000 – 200,000 extra people in a country where there are already 10,000 homeless people living in emergency accomodation ?
No-one in government has offered a credible answer.
Buckle up lads, you’re in for a bumpy ride.

        2. Otis Blue

As indicated by Micheal Martin’s recent comments, the Government response was reliant on accommodation pledges being made. When that didn’t materialise it all came down the State to deliver. And as per usual, we get shocking ineptitude, half-assery and a general couldn’t give a sh1te attitude.

And we pay through the nose for it.

          1. scottser

Maybe we should do like the tans do; sell weapons to both sides but close our borders to the refugees from the conflict?

          3. SOQ

Ireland is making commitments way over and above most countries so- who exactly is making those accommodation pledges and why are they so high?

  5. john f

It would be foolish and reckless to abandon our military neutrality. The vast majority of the public know this. Bought and paid for official’s and politicians are doing there best to change that. Any decision on changing our military alignment or joining a NATO like organisation has to go to a referendum.
There have been countless articles and reports on rising property prices and limited housing stock, declining levels of public services over the past decade. Arguably, the housing crisis affects young people most of all.
However, the same media outlets would tell you that younger people here are more supportive of open borders and unlimited uncontrolled migration than any other country in Europe. I don’t think that is truly the case.
Surely people must realise that there is an undeniable link between the 2. I.e. for every hundred thousand migrants admit there was have to be at least 25,000 houses built, education and medical care would have read provided and adversely affecting already woeful services……
if the narrative that the media and official Ireland is trying to paint is true. Then it’s cognitive dissidence on a massive scale.
The reason why the UK want to move their migrant processing to Rwanda is to deter asylum tourism chancers. There is no soft money in Africa. I have no doubt that if they get it implemented their problem with migrants coming over from France would end very quickly.

I think the government got rattled over the sharp public outcry regarding the sale of turf ban. They rightly fear protests on a level not dissimilar to that of water charges 10 years ago. The Green Brigade needs to be muzzled and reined in. It’s simple as that.

    1. K. Cavan

The government don’t want to have to resort to violence, though they will, if we dare resist what’s coming or rather, what’s already here.
We’re getting into the sharp end of the revolution they’ve planned for us & just want to keep as many people as they can asleep for as long as possible, at this stage.
I feel there will be an opportunity to use all that information that was published in some of the papers, recently, about how civilians can tackle tanks. Don’t recycle those pages, you might need them.

    2. Dinkum

Actually the permitted price gouging is a way they will soften us up for voting against keeping our neutrality
We will be suffering so much the public will be begging for a world war so once the Russians are defeated the prices all go down
Meanwhile the war drums are deafening

    3. jonjoker

They certainly backtracked about the turf pretty fast.
But that Cabbage-headed idiot who thought the middle of an energy crisis was a good time to bring in restrictions on turf use can never see that he is on a hiding to nothing here. With his gas-fired central heating and his big diesel-guzzling automobile, he’s alright jack. Fukk the begrudgers down the bog, they don’t deserve a warm home anyway.

      1. SOQ

And the irony is that farmers are way more in touch with nature than zealots like Ryan will ever be- it is in their the DNA.

Instead of the usual ban and tax and ‘you must suffer’ BS, if he was serious then he would be encouraging the agriculture industry to move to a Dutch style tech innovation model.

There is absolutely no reason why environmentalists and the agri industry should be on opposite sides of this debate.

        https://dutchreview.com/culture/innovation/second-largest-agriculture-exporter/

      2. Nigel

You’re going to have to get used to an ongoing energy crisis, I’m afraid, simultaneous with a climate change crisis. You can address the first by making the second worse, or you can address the second, which will involve a better way of addressing the first. Unfortunately that will involve change which, despite the eternal complaiing that goes on about the way things are, everybody seems utterly terrified of.

Captains log on day 51 of our 3 day mission to seek out Ukrainian biolabs and Nazis. I’m filling in for the Colonel who was KIA while taking a dump in a local outhouse – we’d run out of bog roll and he was sadly making some use of the top secret liberation plan at the time . About those plans – we lost 50% of our fighting capacity when we went to that “meet and greet” with the locals you so kindly arranged but sadly they all were armed to the teeth with heaps of newfangled imperialist western military hardware and had clearly run out of flowers of boom boxes to welcome us. Some points for Fantasy Fleet Command. Those new tanks you sent us to replace the destroyed Airfix ones are actually made out of cardboard and paper mache (why did they have a Blue Peter self assembly instructions with packets of blue tack and rolls of double sided tape ?). The new recruits you sent don’t actually speak Russian and don’t seem to be from around my parts of the glorious Motherland. By the way few of the lads whilst out on R an R were letting off a bit of steam and got up to a bit of high jinx with the locals (you know – rape, pillage, arbitrary executions) which the the fake news foreign media are calling war crimes. Anyway off to tuck into my delicious best before 2015 spam rations. Any news from our unsinkable navy ?

It’s the Christmas Day pints I miss most living in Galway.
Back in the day there was one local hostelry which left its back door open for festive scoops before the turkey and ham.

      Sadly lockdown killed that.

It’s certainly got to be better than staying in France.
Imagine a country being such a toilet that you’re prepared to pay someone €3000 to risk losing your life crossing the busiest shipping lane in the world to reach another country whose media tells you everyone’s a racist who hates foreigners.
      Something just doesn’t add up.
But I’d say even Rwanda is better than living under Napoleon Macron.

The are three issues – firstly language – most immigrants have English as their natural second spoken language.- secondly, the black economy – because there are is no national ID card scheme it is far easier to work, hide and survive as an illegal alien in the black economy in the UK (gig economy, below minimum wage employment n clothing industry in midlands etc. – thirdly family ties and existing networks (the joys of the Empire playing boomerang) – there is also an element of lots of the displaced actually coming for warzones that ahem were the result of them being invaded or occupied by the US and the UK – the US of course leaves Europe to pick up the tab for the refugee crisis they’re ill advised neo-imperialism creates.

I used the term to refer to those Sunnis who perpetuate or sponsor intra-Islamic ethnic cleansing against Shai Muslims based on a warped interpretation of Takfir which at an individual permits someone to be deemed an apostate (infidel) which certain Sunni factions (ISIS for example) have industrialized to justify genocidal attacks against Friday prayers at Shiite Mosques in Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia & Syria killing thousands of people. They have also carried out church bombings in Egypt, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Syria.

The people who carry out such heinous crimes and all those who support and sponsor them are raghead IMO. And I make zero apology for thinking or saying that

For the third time that’s not an explanation stephen. That’s your warped view of the world.

Now tell us why you think Muslims are ragheads, stephen?

          3. Nigel

It’s a racist term, don’t use it. Racist people use crimes and atrocities committed by members of an ethnicity to smear all that ethnicity – you can’t cordon off your racism to confine it to the bad guys, it just doesn’t work. Harney’s harassment-through-repetition is dumb, but in this case you deserve it. On the other hand, Harney and Cavan are woke now, which is nice.

That’s what I have to say about McGuirk exploiting two savage murders and a no less savage blinding of a third victim to fuel a discussion about immigration that doesn’t even consider how a six-year-old child could be screened to guarantee he’d never commit such acts. Forget all the native homophobia and just home in on the immigrants, is that your ‘solution’? No surprise there.

          1. TenPin Terry

        4. Fearganainm

As the person who first posted the information detailing the savagery of the Sligo murders here I don’t think that I need to be reminded of the horrific violence accompanying the killings.

Are you hoping that it becomes a trend? Or are you acknowledging that its rarity doesn’t support the view that the hundreds of thousands of other immigrants here have displayed signs of wanting to do the same?

    2. SOQ

      John McGurik is correct.

People who come from such very different cultures sometimes have difficulty adjusting to ours, as we would to theirs- there should be nothing controversial in stating that. In the case of Muslim cultures, such may manifest itself like in some Parisian suburbs where cafes are men only- or Luton in England where young women get harassed for not dressing ‘modestly’. And it doesn’t necessarily disappear within a generation, so things like arranged marriages are ongoing.

But when it comes to the gay issue there is another level of complexity. To understand this you must start on the basis that everyone is homophobic, including gay people- that it is a gradient scale upon which we all sit, rather a binary status. And, that those who come from very homophobic cultures sometimes carry a lot more baggage, and why wouldn’t they? How could they miss?

As I said previously, when there is violent attacks, it is nearly always someone with an internal battle going on. So assuming Yousef Palani is guilty, and sane, and while I am certainly not justifying what he has done- there is a side of me which thinks he is also a victim of homophobia.

Internalised homophobia is always worse than external and in the right doses, guilt and shame will wreck anyone’s head. IMO there has been three lives taken- which is even sadder.

      1. Oro

“when there is (sic) violent attacks, it is nearly always someone with an internal battle going on.”

Disagree with you on this. It’s funny, I’ve noticed you introducing a quite nasty theme to your comments over the last few days where you’re very quietly pushing the blame for violence against LGBT people onto LGBT people.

Almost every gay person can tell you about violence or bullying against them in their youth committed by their straight peers, however hardly any gay people would have similar stories about same from other gay people (or closeted gay people (don’t pretend we don’t always know)).

While internalised homophobia is a real thing (and a byproduct of general homophobia enacted by heterosexual society)) it is not always or necessarily (or ever IMHO) worse than general societal homophobia.

This is a very “well the women are more misogynistic than the men” alt-crank argument.

        1. SOQ

If anyone’s tone is nasty, it is yours. It is impossible to converse with you without the questioning of people’s motives- are you a gay man?

In my experience, when there is attacks like this, it is near always a closet who commits the crime. This guy (I assume) went onto a gay hook up app, on his own, and met others. That is buyer’s remorse, and is very common with guys who have not come to terms with their sexuality- the difference being that that this guy turned violent.

It is very different to what happened in Dublin recently, where a fella was badly beaten on the street by some thug who just didn’t like the look of him. That said, he has his own issues to be so triggered in the first place.

          1. Oro

I didn’t say you had a nasty tone (altho u often do) I said it was a nasty theme in your recent comments. And yes I am a gay man (I think that this is one time when a personal question by you is worth answering because it is newsworthy in this instance).

Maybe you see more internalized homophobia because you suffer from it to a larger degree. It would explain a lot of your output on here, especially your blaming of LGBT people for homophobic violence.

The reality of life is that homophobic violence is committed by and caused by a dominant heterosexual population. Your assumption about this case is neither here nor there and fueled by your own biases.

Of course you are correct in that there are examples of homosexual people that are violent against LGBT people mechanized by internalized homophobia, but that is not the majority. And I would question your motives as to why you would suggest the opposite is true.

          2. SOQ

But the subject was not the general topic of homophobic violence, it was specifically about these two murders? That is not in any way blaming gay men for homophobic violence- it is just stating the obvious- that if the guy was using gay apps, he is likely to be in denial.

What I have said about internalised homophobia is pretty much accepted as the norm these days- certainly with counsellors. It is also one of the first things they will cover in a gay personal development course- I am not sure why you think otherwise.

          3. Oro

No that wasn’t the subject but you specifically said that the below:

“when there is (sic) violent attacks, it is nearly always someone with an internal battle going on.”

Which is what I was replying to. You introduced the discussion on general violence and pointed blame at LGBT people, I disagreed. You’re as scattered sometimes.

          4. Mad

Why do you guys have to nit pick every single thing SOQ says and berate him over it? As he says himself would you do that in real life?
            Despicable carry on.

          5. SOQ

Ok there is something about one of those murders that I did not know- that one victim was beheaded. That suggests a more religious / cultural motivation than being just being in denial about his own sexuality.

            Apologies.

    3. Ian - oG

I, like a lot of people, know John McGuirk a long time, I’ve even had some online ‘disputes’ with him.

Suffice to say any benefit of the doubt he might have been due was used up not this decade, not even the last decade, he has been a known liar and gobshyte for a long time now.

He has essentially become the go to guy for lost causes.

      1. TenPin Terry

The British media was informed by an Irish journalist – John Mooney – that the suspected perpetrator was of ‘Middle Eastern origin’. Here it’s more usual for detail to emerge once a suspect has been charged and made a court appearance.

          1. TenPin Terry

The British media wasn’t informed by anyone.
The Daily Mail printed the suspect’s ethnicity before anyone else having obtained the information through normal journalistic practice..
The fact the Irish media chose not to report it when everyone in Sligo knew in advance means they were complicit in withholding information – something they have lots of experience at doing.

          2. Fearganainm

The Daily Mail was late to the show. Lurid details of the killings first appeared in ‘The Times’, courtesy of John Mooney, an Investigative journalist with the Sunday Times. Do try to keep up.

It’s also pretty obvious that gardaí / emergency service worker/s gave Mooney copious details about the suspect, the nature of the killings and the injuries sustained by the deceased.

As for the suspect’s nationality – the surname abounds in Tamil Nadu, India, and in Iran. The ‘Middle Eastern’ label given by Mooney is all anyone needed.

        2. V aka Frilly Keane

          Charage
why is the ethnicity of the man charged of so much interest to you?

Justice is all that should matter.

          1. TenPin Terry

At the time the Daily Mail chose to report it the police were still searching for information about other possible victims – I would have thought the suspect’s ethnicity was quite an important factor in that wouldn’t you ?
            Anyway, get used to it.
This sort of obfuscation will be happening with increasing regularity in the future.
Ireland generally follows what happens in the UK about a decade later.
            ‘Twas ever thus.
If you live in London now you’d swear the majority of violent crime was committed by a mystery ethnic-free race of people.

          2. Oro

The majority of violent crime in all societies is generally committed by poorer people, or those living in poverty. And in the UK, non white communities are kept in poverty. Not something to cheer about C, it’s actually quite a nasty theme of modern UK political protocol.

          3. Fearganainm

If you live in London now you’d be aware that a considerable amount of violent crime is carried out by members of the Metropolitan police.

I find the whole Elon Musk / Twitter story quite interesting. Twitter has clearly abused its position, especially during the pandemic. Banning experts in their respective fields without any justification other than they went against the official narrative, was disgraceful. They were and are drunk with power- big men and women- until now, when a bigger man arrives on the scene.

Musk buys 9% of shares then after having a look, decides he really doesn’t like those board and management people. Over their heads, he makes an offer to the shareholders to buy the entire outfit- otherwise he will offload the lot, and tank the value. Of course the shareholders have no ethics or even politics, their sole intent is to make as much profit as possible- so they will probably take the money and run.

And that is when it is going to be fun- absolute carnage at the top level of Twitter- and by God do they deserve it. What happens then is anyone’s guess. Musk is marketed in the Richard Branson mode of ‘cool’ guy, but I am pretty certain there is a hard-nosed side to him too.

At least he is not a Wall Street lackey like the current Twitter board, which is a good start.

He’s about $40bn light on the funding front. The stock was trading in the 60’s last Oct. It’s a lowball offer with no funding organized – just like his ruse which might have landed someone else in jail to take Tesla private when he lied about there being Saudi funding behind it which there neve was. He’s would have to sell or use over half his Tesla shares as collateral. If he’s serious submit a tender at $54.20 which bypasses the board and goes straight to shareholders but he won’t as that would required a detailed filing on the funding which he doesn’t have.

But he’s put Tesla in play – of that there is little doubt – but other tech names will have serious anti-trust issues I’d guess to overcome whereas someone taking it private would be okay ? Seems odd but that would be the route which is a bit of a paradox in terms of independence / liberty / freedom of speech / hate speech standards etc.
