I’d guess the online subeditor is of younger vintage (oh yes, I know, desperate stereotyping!) so went with “czar” owing to the Netflix influence

Ps Thank you for your kind words of welcome yesterday! I appreciated that but saw it too late to reply directly (assuming any reply would be time-buried). I have dropped in intermittently for a few months. I appear to be on the naughty step, sadly. I suspect it’s due to crossing swords with the “only gay in the village” Broadsheet-version. Not to worry.

I’m a different andrew and have been on the naughty step for years here. I rarely comment any more though

And it’s time we were told where the money is coming from for all this hosting of what will be 200 thousand souls?
I suppose it will be added on top of our national debt
      Or maybe
Check out your new electricity bill
You will see your €200 payment is being taxed in VAT so it’s €172
Then of course on top of that your consumption is taxed at 13.5% VAT
So you are going to be taxed another 13.5% tax on the usage
Now times €26 euro by maybe 2million homes you have a nice tidy sum of €52 million the power company is skimming off the top or €52million of a double Irish tax rape by government

…we are back baby, says every mom and pop two bit ‘landlord’ in Ireland,or FFG memeber.
The irish govt should utilize NAMA,upskill it,get some EU cash and start building homes,it ain’t hard, its just not.
Just ask Sean Dunne or anyone who has spent time with the Celtic Tiger builders, they really, really were not very smart or strategic, but they could build houses and ghost estates….
    Bring back the galway tent.

unless you can magic up 100s more electricians, carpenters, bricklayers, plumbers, plasterers.. there will be no extra houses built.

That’s the attitude,we all doomed,x colonial west Brit thinking,we built ‘merica,we can build houses:)
It’s a national emergency – housing or lack off-use the army core engineers if you have to.
Shut down non essential construction redeploy those resources to build houses.

No one can get staff full stop
As for skilled craftsmen those days ended when all technical collages went for university status
We of course got Jonnie foreniger over to do the jobs and they all went back claimed PUP and finished off paying for their homes and now live back home where the cost of living is bearable

Just wait until the government starts bailing out those who are going to loose their shirts over investments in Russia
Apparently glambia is exposed for over $ 1 billion with its dealings with Russia
Of course that’s going to be kept pretty quiet until the media digs
Maybe badger could do an article
Apparently john Rohan is exposed for quite a few mill and many others

Rabies is rife in Ukraine. And our Dept. of Agriculture is happy with dogs from there being ‘quarantined’ at the homes of the refugees. Surely not. A scratch or bite from an infected rabid animal can be lethal unless you’re vaccinated against rabies.

Irish couldn’t take their dogs on holiday to mainland Europe unless they were prepared for them to be quarantined upon their return – at a state facility. Anyone from mainland Europe likewise couldn’t bring their dogs here on holiday.

Odd how such restrictions are being dropped now.

I think, Giddy, this is ”A Globalist Matter” & when Globalism arrives in town, laws, regulations, the Red Tape our State produces by the kilometer, it all just gets locked away in a cupboard.
