It’s funny the bits that get left out of the history books isn’t it – all the inconvenient stuff that doesn’t fit the editorial narrative
    https://twitter.com/DarthPutinKGB/status/1520724020672581632

One might add in the Soviet invasion of Poland on the 17 September 1939 (without declaring war) and the Katyn massacre of 22,000 Polish officers – but nothing to see here – history doesn’t repeat itself of course – it merely rhymes

How about something a bit more recent, Syria, Lybia, Afghanistan or Iraq, the latter directly leading to over a million deaths, then the creation of Isis, a series of horrific & deadly terrorist attacks in Europe, with more to come & even the current Turkish action against the Kurds?
Maybe terrorism is your bag, then you can look at Obama dropping hundreds of thousands of bombs in places like Pakistan, which the US never declared war on but reserves the right to attack, whenever it pleases them?
It’s just moronic to try to blame Russia for what the USSR did, while the USA has been at war with more than half of the nations on the planet at one time or another. Almost their first act after achieving independence was to attack Mexico, then sign treaties with France & Spain, followed shortly by breaking the treaties & attacking both, especially since the warmongering crap in our media might just lead to our own destruction in a nuclear holocaust.
What a dumb piece of dog-poo you are, stephen.

I remember the day covid was announced
Sat in the car driving home and there it was on Rte complete with spokesman regarding covid
He could not say no doubt about it because of GDPR
Could not mention what flight brought the woman and her child from Italy
Could not say why though she lived in Belfast why Dublin was her destination
Could not say how she got from Dublin to Belfast
Could not say if taxi plane bus train
Could not say time of arrival
I looked at my wife and said this is going to be a disaster

Next day felt a right dick and embarrassed regarding asking the local chemist about any face masks for sale(I thought I was over reacting)
Guess what no masks plus told they could not say when any would be in store
What the chemist told me it was all being bought up

Next stop Tesco for hand sanitiser
    Guess what all shelves empty
And here was me thinking I was over the top

Jeez, I wonder what’s happening out there.
Without the Beret Boy™ news service I’m at a total loss.
Does this mean I’m going to have to read today’s Guardian for myself to get a daily feed of Anglophobia?

          1. TenPin Terry

How long do you reckon it’s safe to leave it before you use GiggidyGoo ?

It’s very sad that you have to invent imaginary enemies to go along with your fictitious Missus and various other inventions … going all in I guess

          3. Nigel

Pretty sure I’ve pointed out how Putin started ‘the breakaway conflict many, many times. But that’s not the sort of history you’re interested in right? Nothing in the steelworks will justify the invasion.

        1. stephen moran

A very good long read with which no doubt you will totally disagree drawing alarming parallels between the anti-democratic legislation just passed by the UK parliament and Hungary’s backsliding into authoritarianism

          https://twitter.com/GerhardSchnyder/status/1521048183341735937

I’d add in the lack of a written constitution as a countervailing backstop power for the ordinary citizens, an unelected upper house, FSTP and a heredity head of state with no power as additional dangers to democracy

          1. SOQ

Well Ukraine has been the absolute bastion of democratic values now hasn’t it?

Nothing screams democracy like banning the opposition parties, placing the opposition leader under house arrest and closing down the TV stations I think. Oh and sending in the Nazis to butcher the Russian speakers- that was a nice touch.

          2. anti bot

hey run away where was the mention of Ukraine before you piled in. when are you going to get a job in your own country instead of claiming benefits off my country?

          3. Nigel

Amazing how important Ukraine’s deficiencies, real or alleged, have become in the face of Russian aggression, amazing how Russia starting and funding the breakaway conflict never features in your anti-Ukrainian diatribes.

          4. SOQ

Amazing how Ukraine’s factual history or current war crimes never feature in your anti-Russian diatribes.

I see one of the Azov Nazis who posted videos of Russian soldiers bleeding to death after they were shot in the legs has said he was wrong to do so- not wrong to shoot them while tied up mind, just wrong to post the videos. Twenty or so poor men suffering and dying in agony.

That is the problem with the internet, stuff can never be deleted. The evidence is there for everyone to see.

          5. Nigel

What anti-Russian diatribes? I don’t have to invent anything to make Russia, the country and its leader, Putin look bad – they invaded another country, displacing millions, killing thousands, destroying towns and cities. It’s a perversion of the idea of balance to think that Ukraine’s faults must be highlighted, exaggerated, distorted or invented – ie that Russian propaganda be taken at face value – to achieve some spurious sort of ‘fairness’ in reporting or discussing that invasion.

I’m glad if evidence of war crimes exist to aid prosecutions at a later date – but Putin started the war.

          6. SOQ

On this very date in 2014, 46 peaceful protestors were brunt alive by Ukrainian Nazis in the House of Trade Unions in Odessa. Some of the organisers of that horrific event subsequently went on to become governmental players.

Go watch the ‘Burnt Alive in Odessa’ documentary then tell me how this war started in 2022- but you won’t now will you?

You would rather parrot the US propaganda BS you are being fed, because it is the current ‘thing’ you think you should be supporting- even if that includes cheer leading Nazis.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wu2tXG2Yo-g

          7. Nigel

What. The fupp. Does that prove? What does it justify? How does it make Putin’s actions acceptable? How does it make Russian war crimes acceptable? How does it help millions displaced, give life back to thousands killed, rebuild towns and cities flattened? How does parroting that Nazis were responsible achieve any of that? You HAVE to know that an event like that is going to be a rich source of Russian anti-Ukrainian propaganda, why buy into it?

          8. Kin

            Stephen talking about Russia
I am a great supporter of Julian assange Chelsea manning and just watched a film on sky called the Mauritanian
A totally innocent man extradited to the USA during a family wedding in his home village
Thanks to him answering a call from his cousin made on bin lindens cell phone he spent the first two years in guantamino bay treated quite well and interrogated within the parameter of the rules
            Then the gloves came off
He was in gitmo as it’s called for 7 years before his trial started and never charged
They slung him in a freezer room used water boarding they beat him they starved him they made him have sex under the most humiliating manner sleep deprivation
And told him they were going to arrest his mother and have her gang raped

When eventually he was tried he was found not guilty and the prosecuting officer refused to do what he was told and resigned
They discovered the whole sad facts of every human right was breached regarding getting confessions from him to a crime he never did
The story did not stop there
His papers were published and heavily redacted and became a best seller
Years later he won the right that his story was not censored
He currently is married to an American lawyer and had terrible problems in having the right for his wife to join him in Mauritania
Anyway when the verdict was announced the Obama administration which included Vice President Biden immediately appealed the conviction and he was held up to 2016 when finally released
14 years he spent in a hell hole as crimes against humanity were committed against him
Anyway it makes me laugh that america the pot calls Russia the kettle black
I strongly advise people to watch this film
I must say I balled my eyes out

          9. anti bot

Kin, what the eff does that have to do with Russia invading another country and murdering innocent people? I.e. British people invaded Ireland, I can kill people in England as a result?…What kind of logic space do you live in? The same space that resulted in terrible murders in London, Manchester, Paris…Think rather than being a fool

          10. Nigel

‘Anyway it makes me laugh that america the pot calls Russia the kettle black’

It makes me groan out loud that creating this kind of equivalence is used to justify a Russian invasion, because I am beginning to learn that the major drawback to Russia invading Ukraine is it might give the US the idea that it has the moral high grouhd, not that thousands of people are dying needlessly.

          11. SOQ

@Nigel you have no intention of looking into the history of this conflict so let’s just leave it there. Oh look- something shiny.

@ Kin the US are guilty of the most horrendous war crimes- repeatedly.

          12. anti bot

See, you cannot challenge soq. On here with every opinion 24/7 with his usual aliases, none of which makes sense. All what about. Ah go no. 41, is it acceptable for Russia to invade another country? Answer honestly without the alias and your echo. Go on I dare you. We all all when the invasion is over you’ll go back to attacking women, climate change, Biden, and anyone else on the quanon list. Go on run away, I dare you, answer the question re Russia

          13. bisted

…but…but, Kin…the yanks are the good guys…we know through the likes of Chelsea Manning, Edward Snowdon, Julian Assange that we are talking facts not propaganda…it doesn’t matter that sleepy Joe presided over the bombing of eight different countries, actually killing thousands of children and displacing millions…the yanks are the goodies…with the temporary interlude caused by crooked Hillary snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, normal service has been resumed…the unstoppable bandwagon of regime change continues rolling with Putin in it’s sights next…best of all…it’s all happening by proxy and the goodies are even enriching themselves…

          14. anti bot

Sleepy Joe? Do you mean the democratically elected president of 350 m people, or the lazy nick naming calling of an ex president. However, you said it, why is he sleepy Joe? bet you won’t explain…..

          15. Nigel

You want events like that to somehow change the way people perceive the Russian invasion and it just is not working. There is nothing about that bloody event in 2014 that this invasion does not exacerbate, nothing about whatever progress Ukraine has made that a Russian-installed regime will not roll back, nothing about the ethnic conflict that Putin started, funded and armed that this invasion, however it turns out, will not make worse. You have some cheek accusing of others of being stracted by ‘something shiny’ when pointing to events from 2014 and US war crimes to distract from a current, ongoing event.

          16. Nigel

            ‘the yanks are the goodies’

If you repeat this often enough every time Putin does something awful people will actually start to believe you’re a bloodthirsty war-crime apologist for Putin.

          17. bisted

…funny you should mention the word apologist…is that the brand name on the pro-Democrat blinkers you wear…I’m not the only one here to notice the daily hypocrisy you spout…I’ll take no lectures from somebody who thought arming Al Queada or forming ISIS was a good idea…

          18. Nigel

I’m pretty sure your relentless focus on the US whenever Russian militarism is under discussion has also been noticed. Not to mention your heavy reliance on fairly threadbare straw men.

          19. SOQ

The fact you think that what is happening in Ukraine began on the day Russia started this operation displays an ignorance of the most basic understanding of the history of Ukraine- not to mention how the coke head came of Kiev to power.

Let us see what comes crawling out of the Steel Works in Avostal, because it is getting close now. It is an uncomfortable truth that the Zelenskyy regime is riddled with far right nationalists and Nazis, but a truth none the less.

          20. K. Cavan

Nobody needs to invent any atrocities or make ridiculous accusations against the US, anyone who tries to deny their insane levels of aggression against the rest of the world, when they’ve attacked more than half of the nations on the planet, at one time or another, is clearly a demented warmongering scumbag who must actually enjoy watching these American animals turning peaceful countries into meat-grinders.
The last 30 years, with the US overseeing a Unipolar World Order, have been among the worst but luckily, Russia & China have restored Geo-political balance & the USA’s days as the Hegemon are over, for good.
The foreign policy incompetence of their bloodthirsty Neocons & Liberal Imperialists has painted them into a corner, their insane Woke lunacies have sundered & Balkanised them & their hour of judgment approaches. Without Russia as an ally, they haven’t a hope in hell of containing China, the game’s up & the World will be a better place with restored Geo-political realities constraining their bellicose savagery.
The upcoming Cold War will be far better than the last 30 years of reckless American adventurism, once we can get past their latest disastrous alignment of NATO with European Nazis without plunging humanity into a nuclear war. Europe still has a chance of survival, albeit as a limping, damaged shadow of it’s former self. The backward backwater, flooded with economic migrants but with little in the way of an economy, that the EU is destined to become will have its hands full with the civil unrest that lies ahead, there will be no time for it to flex its puny military muscles, not that the archaic pan-European Managerialism of the EU will play much of a part in Europe’s future, either way, thank goodness.

          21. Nigel

Pretty sure I’ve pointed out how Putin started ‘the breakaway conflict many, many times. But that’s not the sort of history you’re interested in right? Nothing in the steelworks will justify the invasion.

          22. bisted

…you have Nigel…many, many, many times…you have also neglected to add that nazis backed by the CIA overthrew the democratically elected government when they invaded the Capitol building…but…the lone ranger and tanto, aka…the goodies…

          23. Nigel

If by ‘Nazis’ you mean ‘Ukrainians who don’t want to be controlled by Russia,’ which is definitely what Russia means by ‘Nazis ‘

          24. SOQ

@ K. Cavan- a little known fact is that when the new gas pipeline to China is operational- excluding what is used in the domestic market- China will be able to consume ALL of Russia’s gas production.

So while it is the EU who are playing silly beggars with sanctions now- and even failing at that- once said pipeline is complete, it will be Russia who will not be renewing the EU contacts once they run out. A cold war indeed- a very cold war.

Another interesting point is that the headlines of UK and US sending x y and z armaments to Ukraine omit to say that weapons are bought not donated and, the respective countries are also loaning Ukraine the money to buy them.

All of which will have to be paid back.

          25. anti bot

hi run away boy it’s being live on BBC, your country that Russia are invading Ukraine and killing people. Ah go on deny this as fake news

          26. bisted

…as you’ve demonstrated many times Nigel…you really care not what label people come with so long as they are anti what you are anti…nazis are only in the ha’penny place compared with your usual bedfellows…Al Queda, ISIS, or any old facist convenient to your cause…so long as they are far away from the homeland…

          27. anti bot

run away boy. Why can’t you answer. Is it acceptable for Russia to invade another country and kill innocent people. If so, explain why? Can you please do so without answering oh the US did this etc. Ah go on I dare you. Before you answer look up Godwins law

      1. anti bot

dear God, you’re replying to yourself and to yourself. Get a job, and don’t watch porn whilst there. And don’t support anyone who does so. and don’t run away when anyone challenges you.

        1. Mad

Yes broadsheet deleted one of Giggidy’s comments earlier but has now reinstated it – the slow of learning like yourself would not have copped that of course

Still I await your update on whether you have ever watched porn?

          1. anti bot

hey run away boy, like any adult of course I have. Would I do it at work where I could offend people, obviously not. Go on run away, why do you its acceptable to defend people watching porn in work in front of men or women who find it offensive. anyone watching porn in work should be fired on the spot. Go on run away explain otherwise.

          2. Mad

Thanks anti that only took several days

Do I think it’s acceptable to watch porn “in front of” others at work – no.

This man didn’t actually get caught however and there is no evidence that he did watch any porn in any knowledge that his colleagues were aware of what he was doing. So he didn’t do it in front of others. He did it in private and others claim they happened to notice it.

There is literally no third party evidence against him other than anecdotal and at that of some political opponents who have not gone on the record with their accusations. That is, until he was bullied into admitting his indiscretion by a braying mob.

Do I think that in his case then this is a witch hunt – definitely

I noted he voted against Brexit as well btw

          3. anti bot

He resigned. He was reported to the parliamentary Committee by 2 female members who spotted him watching porn at work. Run away man, is that acceptable? Would you watch porn at work and would you think it acceptable if anyone else were to do so?

          4. Nigel

‘bullied into admitting his indiscretion ‘

People accusing you of something and you admitting you did it is pretty much the definition of getting caught, also the opposite of a witch-hunt.

          5. Mad

            No it isn’t Nigel
He said he was going to refer himself to a process of investigation which is what anyone accused of misconduct at work should have the right to. Then a mob descended
on him forcing him out without any due process.
But what’s the point – you’re an idiot: fupp off please

          6. anti bot

Hey run away boy, you forgot to answer my question that I asked 3 days ago. Is it acceptable to watch porn at work. Simple yes or no.? Why did he resign? Why are you defending him? 3 questions posed, all with simple answers. Bet you won’t. You’ll just switch subject or shock horror change names and personally attack me.

        2. K. Cavan

You’re a hilarious little lunatic, Aunty Bot, your posts are a guilty pleasure, an insight into the demented mind-space of a retard who is blisfully unaware of their lack of intelligence & insists on displaying it, like a flasher with a tiny member.
          Never change.

          1. anti bot

Is it acceptable to watch porn at work. simple yes or no, or else run away, wee boy….

          2. anti bot

And again, I’m a retard…. Is that OK? Go on run away boy. explain why its OK for Russia to invade another country. Explain why its acceptable for you to have loads of aliases and attack everyone who challenges you. bet you can’t. You will just run away

          3. Annie 14 Tennis

Hey anti- botty boy. Do I have to keep asking. Why don’t you answer? Why are you so stupid? Come on. Tell us. Go on – how come you’re so thick. When is your 10th birthday. Go on. Why are you avoiding my question B9?
Is your twin Jungleman? Another thicko with nothing to say. Go on, tell us.

    1. SOQ

Well, it is quite obvious at this stage that there is one or more on this site who are battling with some sort of mental illness, that much is certain. I just wish they would learn how to contain it to themselves.

      1. Tom J

@ SOQ, So people with mental illnesses are not allowed to post on Broadsheet in case you get upset. Boo Hoo.

        1. K. Cavan

Not so much that they’re not allowed to post, Tom J, as the fact that laughing at The Loonies is not very wholesome, even if it’s impossible not to, given their delight & desire to be so extravagant in their exposition of their utter, crass stupidity.

          1. Tom J

@ K. Cavan, So you are speaking from experience then. I sometimes get out for weekends myself.

      2. anti bot

on here 24/7 accusing everyone who challenges you of being suffering from mental illness. Get a mirror. Or get an echo….oh wait, you do.

        1. Annie 14 Tennis

Hey anti botty. I asked you yesterday why you’re so stupid. Come on. answer the question. What age are you? 9? On here 24/7 these days being thick of the week.nGo on. Why don’t you answer. B9.

        2. SOQ

Go on tell us why I am not the sane one go on?

Why won’t you answer when I call you misogynist? Go on. Why won’t you answer when I ask the same question ten time and ignore the answers? Go on, go on, tell us?

You have mental issues- that much is glaringly obvious.

          1. jungleman

@SOQ You claimed that Putin invaded Ukraine to save us all from Covid which you claimed was cooked up in the US labs in Ukraine.

So, you are definitely not sane.

          2. Annie 14 Tennis

Take a hike Jungleman. You’re a bit late to the party to start trolling. Your sidekick is doing quite well without you.

  4. GiggidyGoo

This weeks bread and circuses (last weeks was turf) is the motorway from Cork to Limerick. Eamon Ryan really being a good boy and accepting the role of fall guy again.

    1. K. Cavan

I genuinely doubt if Ryan is anything other than sincere, he’s simply not any good at politics, he just wasn’t cut out for anything other than clerical work of the most menial sort, Giddy. The Greens have been trussed up like Christmas turkeys every time we’ve been unfortunate enough for them to land, accidentally, in government due to the plumetting popularity of our two main Reactionary combines.

      1. Annie 14 Tennis

Think back to the last time the Greens brought down the government. The excuse was that Fianna Fáil had delayed running a bye election or something childish like that. Now it’s being teed up for them to use a similar childish excuse so that FF FG aren’t the ones to bring this one down. He is a true lackey.

    1. K. Cavan

Well, the world’s largest country possesses its largest mineral deposits also but everything that our civilization is remains downstream of energy & raw materials, so your comment ends up accidentally ironic & hilariously contrary to the implication it attempts to make.
      Only Oil, Gas & Minerals?
      Who needs ’em, eh?

    1. K. Cavan

Of course it was, SOQ, unless they plan to use the crushing of what little industry Europe has left to expedite their lunatic plans for The Great Reset dystopia, which will merely result in most of the EU Overlords hanging upside-down from lamposts.

    1. K. Cavan

And for how long do you think humanity has been able to record temperatures across the planet accurately, Nigel, you eejit?
In terms of verifiable trends in our climate, which proceed over millenia, that’s the usual Chicken Licken bullcrap that we’ve grown to expect from the Climate Catastrophists. Oh look, it’s lashing rain, the planet must be getting wetter, that’s the level that “Climate Science” achieves.
What a pathetic piece of nonsense, Nigel, well done, you’re damaging the myths & lies you attempt to support, with your NPC-style regurgitation of the Oligarchs’ transparent propaganda.

          1. jungleman

Thankfully you have Bodger to mind you from all the “bullies”.

“retarded monkey” is far more more offensive than anything I’ve ever said of you but I suppose when Bodger is on your side, you can say whatever you please.

But if I am a retarded monkey what would that make you?

          2. SOQ

You contribute nothing apart from trying to silence and bully others. You are a nasty vindictive troll who shouldn’t even be allowed on this site because you cause it harm.

        1. Annie 14 Tennis

‘one of the hottest’ In other words there have been other ‘hottest’.
Which ones were hotter there Nigel ?

          1. Chris

The 1930s had heatwaves far greater than anything current. The Middle Ages (pre- industrialisation) had a warm period that also far exceeds our current paradigm.

‘Climatism’ is a millennial cult predicated on the ‘end of the world’, and no evidence to the contrary will be accepted if it counters this terminal belief. ‘Saving the planet’ & other ridiculous assertions are it’s stock in trade. The weak minded & young are carried along by a ‘saviour complex’ that seeks to guilt people for their presence on the earth.

There’s nothing particularly novel about it – a pagan/catholic mash up that treats the creation as sacred (not the creator) & uses guilt and moral outrage as virtues to stigmatize non-adherents with. The ‘original sin’ is not an action by man himself – but mankind’s very existence.

There are people that accept the precepts without being ‘converted’ but this is merely because they’re going with the consensus and imagine it to be true. I can agree that life/work/family etc can present enough hurdles that most don’t seek ‘problems’ and contradictions & the baggage they entail.

Then there’s Nigel and his ilk – the afore mentioned weak of mind. Prone to every iota of concocted magical realism thrown their way. The progenitors of this cult (finance) – are ramping up the rhetoric and we can see the evidence in self immolation and gluings to the road. They want emergency powers under the auspices of ‘public health’ – to make us pay and behave in a manner of their concoction – any questioning of this behaviour will be seen as heretical .

Meanwhile, billionaires and politicians are buying ocean front properties & travel unhindered in private jets.

          2. Nigel

Yeah I’d say you were concerned about global warming but then I posted a link about the temperature in Pakistan and you said nah feck that.

  5. Kin

Well the good new is irelands winters will get warmer but wetter
But there is a an opportunity to instead of ignoring the gift of massive amounts of water just flowing into villages towns and cities flooding them ,why not with trenches built side by side of rivers the water could be channeled and collected then sold off to other countries suffering from extreme drought
Before you call me deranged already it’s being done with ice from the Antarctic areas and that water is sold shipped by tankers

With our warmer winters we will need less heat so home heating just might not be needed

Then we have the warmer weather in the summer which will be very advantageous for tourism
Meanwhile as the world gets hotter tourism in many countries might just suffer

It’s going to be pretty negative for wine producing countries as they will get too hot

At the moment the french have been buying vineyards in the UK
AND MAYBE IRELAND WITH THE UK could become a serious producer of wine

    1. Nigel

Yeah, the best thing for our waterways is digging big trenches around them.

I’d be in more of a hurry to work out what food staples will survive and adapt to which regions in the changing climate than anticipating cornering the wine market, to be honest.

      1. Kin

I am sure Nigel our crops will adapt
We are an agricultural country after all
And check out ingenious methods in capturing water other nations use
From harvesting ice burgs to retaining rain water it’s all there and in the future wars will be fought over food and water
But Nigel all you can do is the narrative
You are really a man who has no vision or any contribution apart from doing what you are told
Like in the 1970s if countries invested in renewables we might not be in the position we are in now
In countries like India and Vietnam they are using contour trenches to capture and utilise badly needed water for the dry times
But of course Nigel this goes over your head
You see Nigel we have copious quantities of water and we do not need to worry about water security so we will just pour it down the sink and moan about paying for it and build massive walls protecting our cities from flooding where we could turn it around and harvest and sell it
Maybe in 100 years time water will become the next renewable energy crises
So ban the turf Nigel and be a good boy and sit in the dark like a good mushroom

        1. Nigel

What’s over your head is the immense damage and pollution already done to our waterways and areas like bogs which retain and drain water. Not sure more trenches and drainage will do anything but make things worse

      2. K. Cavan

What will happen, Nigel, if the incoherent nonsense you so blindly support is enforced, is the population of Ireland, by then of majority African origin, will find that their nemesis, Famine, has followed them, turning Europe into a continent full of starving Africans, because the cattle & sheep farts were a problem to the planet they exist on.
Livestock can, unlike fields of wheat or vegetables, actually be moved away from floodwaters but forget that, joined-up thinking is not a forte among the Climate Change Faithful.

    2. K. Cavan

Unfortunately, Kin, fermentation gives off gasses that will be illegal or something, something, something, cow farts, etc.
There will be increased flooding in Ireland, just as England experiences, every Winter but it will be because our Globo-fanatic leaders will overpopulate Ireland with economic immigrants & concrete over the whole island to accomodate them.
Then, as the whole project catastrophically fails, the civil unrest will begin & the Woke Retard brigade will get to learn about Racial Realism, at the business end of a machete.

UEFA have announced that Russian soccer clubs will be banned from playing in the Champions League and other European competitions next season

Spare the bandwidth before embarking on some naive sermonizing and hand wringing about how sports and politics don’t mix – they have been inseparable since time immemorial – Jessie Owns, Jackie Robinson enters baseball’s major leagues, Muhammad Ali and the draft, Black Panthers salute 1968, 1972 Munich massacre, Fischer versus Spassky world chess, South African Apartheid era sports boycotts, Windies / England Rebel Tours of South Africa, Lions tours of South Africa, Olympic boycotts, Indian Cricket tours to Pakistan., Cathy Freeman, Kaepernick and taking knee during the anthem at NFL games etc. etc. etc.

Anyone recognise this pile of dung?

    I know I do anyway

It’s bonkers to blame a newspaper for contributing to a property crash.
It’s the greed of people willing to take on unfeasibly large amounts of debt to own a home often with the express purpose of flogging it on in the short-term to trouser a handsome profit.
The ONLY people complaining about a property bubble are those not able or unwilling to risk investing in the market after it crashed.
I say bring it on and let that Tiger roar again and watch another succession of idiots who don’t know when to get out at the right time get burned.
    Great entertainment.

    1. Kin

The problem is when a house no longer was a house but an investment
I remember when a house was a home and an investment was for a pension
Then due to pensions funds collapsing by greed and stupidity by those running them people moved into rental property in the 1990s as a pension as peoples pension pots ended up in the gutter
But the big offices and mega salaries all remained as people found what pensions they were told they would have became worthless

The first rule of electoral campaigning in northern England is don’t mix up Teesside with Tyneside – they’re rightly kind of sensitive about geography – someone did today but I forgot Hogwarts for self pleasurers only teach Latin, Tax Avoidance and Money Laundering.
