Brooke Sculliion, Ireland’s Bellaghy-born Eurovision Song Contest, gets local support at a roundabout outside Derry City

Tonight.

Ted writes:

Tonight’s the big night! Brooke’s qualifying odds have steadily improved to reach 11/4 today in a tough Semi Final 2. I’m confident she’ll comfortably sneak in ahead of Cyprus and Belgium.

Meanwhile…

Have the actually shoehorned the Ukrainian flag colours into the background of the Irish entrant’s poster?

Ah Bellaghy! Birth-place of Seamus Heaney. A good GAA Football Club, used to be better, neighbours Ballinderry kinda out-shone them, recently it was Slaughtneil. Shayna has little memory of Ireland’s last Derry Euro winner (plonked in font of tv in 1970 -Shayna was 4) – Dana, although, she won sufficient sufficient votes in later years to become a MEP – not so much for Prez of Ireland, however. Fair play to Brooke, she seems great and all the best! Can I say, “Come on Ireland/Derry!”. For the benefit of the uninitiated – Tyrone GAA types chant at Derry supporters – There’s No London in Tyrone! Come on Ireland/Derry!

You’re a twisted little freak. And yes, you stand comparison with another freak who sends twisted freak messages to females. You are what you are.

          2. Fearganainm

Your perverted, misogynistic posts litter the site as monuments to the kind of twisted freak that you are.

No amount of deflecting can erase your warped history here.

Ah now, that’s not fair. She was actually very good, the song had just a bit too much jaggedness for Eurovision. However, the backing dancers – well, there’s no nice way to say this, but they had rubbish choreography and just didn’t bring any game. It’s been a failing for Ireland for a long time now. Fine singers, all right songs, but it’s like sending children to play an adults game. It’s like they’re always in a different show. Innocent’s abroad. It just doesn’t work. However, within the limits set for her, she delivered a great performance, congratulations.

I’ll accept that point that within her limited talent and the constraints and context of the production she achieved her goals.

But the question remains why are we sending someone so inexperienced and offering her up as cannon fodder thereby effectively aborting her career prior to take off?

A more experienced performer would put their foot down as well about other sub par elements of the production. It could be as you say the backers are so bad that it biased me against the whole thing from the start. I’ll look at it again later.

Steady on… I’m not sure I’d watch it twice.. but, you’re right.. it’s almost like Linda Martin wants to kill any chance these young ones have of building a career.

          2. GiggidyGoo

Don’t tell me that Linda Martin (And Louis Walsh?) are still deciding who is sent to Eurovision?
The choreography, almost synchronised swimming, was the usual local christmas concert type of stuff. No imagination.

You are a disgrace. How BS allows these types of posts to remain on is beyond me. You have a pretty sick mind. People who are content with themselves don’t write this sort of stuff, you clearly have major issues. Are you Charger?

I’m guessing Brooke from London/Derry didn’t qualify? Brooke from Ireland/Derry – Nice One! xx

This website was once rather good, I thought.
