And with the price of petrol being what it is…

… on a serious note, and with no expectation of an answer… Why do we tolerate such muppets in so many Irish towns and cities …

the council has to get a court order to evict and that can take a couple of years.

Scottser we all know both the gardai and the council are scared of these thugs
I believe we as a small nation and neutral at that (soon to go) both gardai and the military forces needs to be combined
The navy with customs and the soldiers can be the armed division of the police and they are tasked with dealing with organised crime and gangs
I would say the local thug would soon be pooing themselves when an armed soldier pays him a visit
Of course the defence forces get paid on par with the gardai
The gardai of course just sit on their arses as usual pigging out on spice bags and burgers and do motorists

Costa Rica have such an arrangement and it works

          1. scottser

and in the same breath you’d be the very one criticising gardai at evictions where heavy handed northern thugs get to throw families out of their homes.
but yeah, let’s take a leaf out of costa rica’s book.
            ffs

And scottser ? I presume you are referring to KBC and the eviction by northern Irish licensed security what ever in Roscommon
For one I did not know they had the power to operate in our jurisdiction
Maybe the gardai should clarify the position
And for two I am no fan of banks
I wish we could return to the punt for it really rhymes with bank manager
As for thugs and paramilitaries that is why I will never vote Sinn Fein at present or the near future
Not because I love the British government or hate the Irish government
            I despise terrorism
And to me Sinn Fein have not shown that the shadowy figures have gone away and they have not proved to be able to govern together with the other lot
I could say the same for the DUP or the other mob
There is a distinct possibility of the return to the past and this time the unionist thugs bombing the republic thanks to the fact the UK exited the EU and we have not one politician in this country with the backbone to pressure Europe to make Ireland because of its past history and fragile situation north of the border maybe a no tariff or extra paperwork and customs zone
Just like it was when NI were in the EU
THE EU and the UK have been as bad as each other over the squabbling and it is that that could bring back violence to our country
Call me a A hole but I see no resolution with the Northern Ireland protocol or Nigel’s back stop

I’d say a good number bought the former council home – plenty of muppets in private housing too… and plenty in private housing funding it all up their nose at weekends… we seem to have a high percentage of the population acting the muppet regardless of background making other peoples lives hell… so we should definitely waste a load on money on face recognition software…

    1. Kin

      Exactly
When the house is refurbished maybe a homeless family
The gang member and his family can always rent in the private sector

  2. Boe_Jiden

These kids need somewhere to go and something to do there’s no facilities in deprived areas so no wonder they take a wrong turn and get into difficulty the goverment should be doing more in these areas for these kids

    1. ce

There’s a lack of, but not a total lack of things to do, something else has shifted in the culture around them

it seems that they are being preyed and groomed by older folks to be little minions

It’s getting to the stage where it’s a threat to the state

    2. Kin

Boe these kids have no role models at home and need a kick up the arse
Maybe it’s time to end the way the dole is run
Anyone unemployed are signed up to an agency where each day they are farmed out to work even if it’s sweeping the roads

        1. Kin

No road sweeping is not it’s a job to earn money though poorly paid it’s better to work have dignity and find better employment
I remember when I was unemployed I got a job as a static guard
In a shopping centre in Blanchard town
It was a line of shops and a shed where the static guard sat in to keep warm at night
It was across from a very scummy pub
I had to walk around that place shitting myself as I did not even have a baton to defend myself with no radio to boot
The next day I had to do static guard around an AIB bank
WhicJ involved just walking around the outside of the building
I was not even allowed to use the staff canteen or toilet
I worked in that company for two months until something came around in the catering
