In the face of brutal budget cuts and staff layoffs, Chief Constable Peter Fahy (above, cuffed) of the Greater Manchester Police has come up with a rather brilliant PR stunt: posting details of every 999 call the GMP (already stretched to its limit) receives inside a 24 hour period.
Three dedicated twitter feeds are being used to log the calls in real-time: a gob-smacking, sometimes depressing, frequently hilarious mixture of batshit craziness and mundanity.
The deluge started at 5am this morning and continues until 5am Friday.
