6/7/2018 Heat wave 2018. Slieve Bloom Inferno. Having battled gorse fires all day in the Slieve Bloom Mountains in county Laoise and eventually damped them down in the afternoon. Coilte and the fire services were again called into action as a massive fire caught hold in a different area of the forrest. Photo shows the extent of the inferno as smoke covers large areas of the mountains and forrest, backlit by the sun which is causing fires and drought conditions all over the country.
