Kevin Cardiff, former Secretary General at the Department of Finance, arriving at the Banking Inquiry this morning
Kevin Cardiff: “Default was a serious consideration… No one could admit to this [at the time].” #bankinginquiry

Whoa. Kevin Cardiff at #bankinginquiry, telling members that he made subtle inquiries with IMF in 2008 about how we might get a bailout — Gavan Reilly (@gavreilly) June 24, 2015
In what is surely a superhuman feat, kevin Cardiff is throwing bertie, cowen and lenihan under a high-speed bus.

This will be very interesting.
This man is seriously going up in my estimation.
I heard ages ago that he worked like a dog when he was there. How many people can that be said of?
Watching live, I believe he just made an analogy that the banks didn’t really disclose what cards they had in their hand, even afterwards and then said (paraphrasing) “This is the process for turning over the cards…” Sounds like he has the best interests in mind – truth, transparency. That’s hopeful!
he’s gotten fierce chatty all of a sudden
Well paid dog. With a nice doggy pension.
Shame he had to be moved out to Brussels isn’t it?
