What a co-incidence. Was only thinking of this today. It’s one of those *small* achievements that the last government had along with the smoking ban. Moving to the metric system makes sense. Interesting that we’re one of the few countries to display “km/h” below each sign, probably because of the land border with the UK.
I wonder will future signs do away with the km/h altogether?

We should consider switching to metric time.

Seems like the weight of mischaracterisation here removes the possibility of a joke. The remnants of the imperial system is due to the power of inertia. But I guess the American avatar is a fat hick so I’m probably holding the rest of it to unfair standards.
Anyway, who’s for a pint?
Ms Piggy
Pardon?

…let me get them…barman, a brace of pints please.

You blew it.
Non racist in Ireland
This is a racist post and forms the reason why I will never read broadsheet again. There is nothing funny about that, and it evokes disgust on the site’s behalf. Beside the point that the imperial system is used some places and not others, there is no way it could ever be considered superior, and having a word that is also used on a body part does not mean that is the basis for it, one foot equals 12 inches, so the real hick here is the author.
