Members of Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN) highlighting the “gruesome reality of buying a dog or puppy this Christmas; which ultimately leads to the deaths of thousands of healthy dogs and puppies in pounds across the country”.
In 2010, 5,267 healthy dogs were put down in Irish pounds. However, ARAN believes that figure is far higher and say that “buying an animal from a breeder adds up to killing a homeless animal in an animal shelter”.
