The world’s oldest fossilised evidence of insect sex – two Anthoscytina perpetua found locked together, preserved in the sediment of a Mongolian lake – recently discovered by a research team from China’s Capital Normal University, who have hypothesised that the pair were blown into a lake in flagrante after being killed by volcanic gases.
