I can see the message from Marty now appears to read “in friendship” but it looks as if he started to write something else “im f*cked” perhaps, poor auld Marty has recently been dropped by Tesco and probably needs to make up the lost income somehow.

Late 80’s / early 90’s I swear I remember Marty Whelan hosting a show on 2fm (or was it Radio 2?) called “Marty’s Metal Monsters”. Mind you, he never really played actual “metal”… it was more hard rock and power ballads.
But it was all we had.
Anyone else remember that? Was it all just a dream?
No, twas true. He also used to have a little promo picture of him in a little sports car every time he was mentioned in the ‘Guide. He was quite the gad. Miss him him on the lotto shows. He had just the right of level of condescension to not take it seriously, but not disrespect people either. Nickie byrne looks like he is trying o audition for the BBC.
