This morning
Lucinda Creighton (top) at the press launch of her new party, called Renua Ireland with third pic from left: John Leahy, Mailo Power, Eddie Hobbs Ronan McMahon and Jonathan Irwin. More declared candidates here
So…what are the party’s views on abortion?
Our party has an open position on Abortion. In fact, we will be the only political party in Ireland and across Europe that has an open party position on Abortion. The reason for this is very simple, we do not believe party politics in Ireland has a place for issues of conscience.
Irish Water?
We are in favour of investment in our water infrastructure. It has been allowed to decay for generations. Access to safe, clean water is a basic necessity of life. We fundamentally disagree with how water charges have been introduced and will continue to do so until Irish Water has been radically reformed, and public waste eliminated.
Sinn Féin?
We believe in open politics. That means being open and transparent in every way. Sinn Féin fails to meet any standard of openness and transparency and on these fundamental grounds, we will not consider under any circumstance entering into a coalition agreement of any form.
Update:
Gulp.

I hope the press corp laugh at them sure the only one who might get voted in is Lucinda and even in her own constituency she is now a joke.
Billy Timmons will be elected by folks in West Wicklow.
…isn’t Lucinda publicly against equality in the upcoming Same Sex Marriage Referendum, a very You-Know-Who-stitute vibe off her
That would be Molesworth Street, not Morehamption Road.
Bet they’ll call themselves “iKIP”
I’ve been hoping for The Creightionists
The Hobb-Knobs
I like it Mikey :)
So the Keep Ireland Abortion-free Party is just Mr and Mrs Bradford and Billy “no mates, especially not in FG” Timmons. The party ard fheis can be held in a bedroom in south Dublin city, I’d like to see David Davin Power report that one!
Harsh.
You gotta start somewhere. Or else nothing would ever get done.
I’m not sure all of their members/leaders are assets, that’s all I’ll say.
“You gotta start somewhere. Or else nothing would ever get done.”
I’d like to offer you two hundred kay to run my company.
to be fair they aren’t anti abortion as a party, though she has been open as to her own position, they just don’t apply the whip in matters of conscience
They have revealingly narrow definitions of conscience tho, don’t they?
What “party”? It’s Mr and Mrs Bradford and a soon-to-be-defenestrated Independent TD.
The one and only issue which moved Lucinda to oppose her party was abortion. Not economic policy, justice, foreign affairs, political reform including making matters of conscience not applicable to the party whip, policing and cuts to staffing and Garda stations, property charges, third level fees, austerity budgets which disproportionately affect the poor, industrial policy, payments to unsecured bondholders.
No, the one and only issue which motivated Lucinda to oppose FG was abortion.
It’s the Keep Ireland Abortion-free Party and nothing more.
+1
While I respect Lucinda hugely for acting in good conscience and sticking to her pro-life principles, if you asked me would I vote for her, I’d say: YES, albeit very reluctantly. The one and only reason she’d get my YES is because of her pro-life position.
+1
The funny thing about politics is, most issues really boil down to issues of conscience in the end.
“There is no greater moral and political issue than securing the future of children.”
Which is why we couldn’t muster more than one sentence about it.
Lost my vote right there.
That wasn’t supposed to be a reply
Is that David Hall there to the left of Lucy??
Billy “no mates” Timmins, the former FG TD in Wicklow, who was kicked out of FG after opposing the limited abortion reform a couple of years back. He’ll find it difficult to be re-elected in 2016.
Cheers
He was on Prime Time last night, being asked what it will be like to be the face of the party, all 20 of his chins moving from side to side.
He won’t.
Here is the thing with wicklow, its 5 seats.
You get at least 2 TDs from Bray/Greystones, sometimes three (currently 3, Donnelly, Anne Ferris and Harris)
That leaves 2 or three TDs.
One of those usually comes from Wicklow/Arklow.
The other from west of the mountains.
The one from the west of the mountains is Billy Timmins.
For 4 elections on the trot, because everybody out there votes for him.
David Hall….Seriously, how is that fat c**t getting away with it? (I know the c-word is used quite liberally nowadays, but in his case it’s justified) Why hasn’t he been called out by the media for what he is?
Tis a mystery t’me too T
Molesworth Street, no?
Renua sounds like a new drug brand to treat bowel disfunction. As for”Let’s champion human inventiveness”? Did they ask a first year morkeshing stude to come up with that slogan?
I propose we help them out with some more. I’ll start:
“Renua. Ensuring sustainable growth, going forward”
I just googled it – the first hit is some medical equipment company based in Carson City, Nevada. You could not make this up :-D
+1 abot the bowel disfunction treatment – it should come with a tag line:
‘renua – for when sh1tting from your hole just isn’t enough..’
the top image does resemble a particularly speedy ‘movement’ arcing skywards.
Appropriately, “Renua Ireland” is an anagram of “Dire Anal Run…E!”
Dire Anal Rune:

You could have the early signs of Creighton-Hobbs Disease.
Don’t suffer in silence!
Ask your GP for Renua.
Instant relief.
Please read instructions carefully.
Please insert one in rectum daily.
I love you guys ^_^
Wow, do you edit it from Morehampton Road to just ‘Molesworth’? Amazing. Taking half-assedness to new and impressive levels.
Its sounds like the name of a new age church and they even used that old Catholic church image of the bird as their logo. The christian right finally has their party.
And here’s what I thought…
“George Costanza: I mentioned how I liked horse manure.
Jerry Seinfeld: You did?
George Costanza: Yeah.
Jerry Seinfeld: Yeah. You said you liked horse manure.
George Costanza: Yeah. You know, about how when you break it down, it’s really a very positive thing. You know, you have a ‘newer,’ with a ‘ma’ in front of it. MA-NURE. It’s not bad.”
Jonathan Irwin a noticeable and dangerous addition. Landed gentry to his fingertips.
I think I’ll renua my passport and leave.
Ha!
I’m still waiting on Ms Creighton to refer to us as citizens in a society instead of repeatedly referring to us as consumers, consumers to be mined for profit by companies she’ll probably be sitting on the board of when she gets out of this politics racket.
That drives me nuts too!
In a shop I’m a consumer, in a state I’m a citizen.
Its not like anyone can flounce off to another dole office if they don’t like the level of service they get.
Have they had a #REBOOT of their party name?
was just wondering how much the new branding cost her/us
Mick Flavin…. this one’s wide open!
I hope you do a sketch :)
I don’t have much time these days, Clamps (says he commenting in the middle of a workday)…I’ll see…
Here Flavo, Da Vinci had a lot going on in his life too but he managed to churn out de masterpieces.
Get your pencil out, man.
The quality of his art suffered as a result though, didn’t it?
I couldn’t possibly release substandard work (ahem…See “Cross-Eyed Ray Darcy” and “Leo Varadkar & Rodney Dangerfield’s Lovechild”).
Agreed, they came to symbolise your blue period.
I understand the temptation for you to adopt a Banksy strategy to your work and flirt with unpredictability and controversy. Keeps it fresh.
Get your pencil out of your rectum and insert one Renua there daily.
Please consult a physician.
Enema Ireland
Any word on what their stance is on the Marriage Equality ref?
pro
Really? Lucinda sidestepped that question quite a few times of late. Not doubting you, hoping it’s true (well, does it matter? Not really)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdQu7odqWMo#t=315
You’d need a brain health evaluation to vote for the daft fuppers!
Renua… Re ( rebirth) and nua ( Irish for new).
Marbhgin Eire
Ré – Era
Nua- New
New Era
When are they coming to fix my boiler,
http://www.renuaboiler.com/
I sniggered :)
Re nua doesn’t mean anything in Irish. Ré nua means new era or new moon.
Well done. The name of your new party is a typo.
That seems to be a trend, a morkeshing thing – have your name and description mean nothing and you won’t be held to it. Tusla, the children’s agency is another one, a meaningless, made up word. It really doesn’t inspire confidence.
Marketing trend or rip-off of Michael Fitzmaurice TD’s Tua Nua initiative?
Agree. Of all areas to be pretentious and vague in your branding, politics should not be one of them. Parties are afraid to be branded conservative, socialist, nationalist, green etc. so they duck and dive behind makey up symbols of flowers and birds flying which are more appropriate to a sanitary product.
We now have
“The Tribe of the Irish Party”
“The Soldiers of Destiny Party”
“The We Ourselves Party”
“The Renua Party”
Really wearing their beliefs on their sleeve.
And here is to not giving a poo because I can read and interpret English well enough to not need to judge a political party on their name alone.
My point is that even further reading betrays a catch-all nature, shy of actually nailing colours to the mast and standing for something, a vision.
Are they pronouncing in Ray Nooah or Reynyewah? I haven’t had access to radio on my computer this morning.
I’ve not either but my money’s on Ree-nooah. A mixed bag. A melting pot. *David Brent interlocking fingers*
*While biting lower lip*
broadsheet comments section invaded by blue shirts again.
ye must have been up all night tugging the wee lad!
Ireland produces a new political party in god knows how long, most important question?
Views on abortion.
Give me strength.
Manky name though.
Its almost like its an important policy question for voters or something
Or the very issue that drove the party’s founder from her previous party.
Quite
correction. the only issue
You think that this is the most important policy question for voters?
What color is the sky on your planet?
I didn’t say I thought that but jump away. Abortion is a pretty big issue for Ireland. You might not think it is but others do and that, and their history, is why they were asked. Whats the bet you would be complaining if they weren’t asked?
its the only important question for party founder ms Creighton. please pay attention.
Possibly because the only reason they’re not still in FG is because they’re incredibly anti-choice? No? That not relevant?
It’s like not asking FF when it came on the scene whether Dev’s views on the treaty had changed.
Of course it’s relevant and it would be remiss not to mention it.
I would have thought little things like health and austerity and education might get a look in after the burning issues of abortion and water protests are dealt with though
I’m sure that’s the next question – since they agreed with everything FG did on health for X many years, were they lying at the time or did they not care or what.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18/JimChimney/Renua_zpswa33wozx.jpg
The pretty dead flowers.
Oh dear, if that name is the best they could do, it doesn’t bode well.
Heh: they won’t enter into a coaltion with Sinn Fein. Grandiose statements already.
I can’t STAND Eddie Hobbs. Jumped-up k********y.
Ha!
Spot on!
“The reason for this is very simple, we do not believe party politics in Ireland has a place for issues of conscience.”
For conscience, read ‘other people’s sex-lives’.
Health budgeting, blind pension cuts, removal of SNA’s for kids with special needs aren’t a matter of conscience, but a pregnant woman you’ve never met? That’s personal.
Exactly
+1
Well done
Sounds like a hemorrhoid cream
So conservative right party.
As for this:
“we do not believe party politics in Ireland has a place for issues of conscience.”
Which means they have no intention of looking into the reasons why over 4,000 women each year take this option.
Jaysus !
It’s OK though, if those women are not self reliant enough to get the boat to the UK, Renua said they’d kindly imprison them.
Everyone stay calm.
No.
It means that their member TD’s will be able to vote how they please on Abortion.
I predict this party will win zero seats in the next election.
Name means nothing in any language, candidates are weak at best.
There are some fantastic quotes to be got from their website… may favourite so far….
“Those who are not self reliant will be imprisoned rather than released by a life on welfare.”
From ‘Vision’ bit on Welfare – http://renuaireland.com/#vision
I’ve searched Renua’s 42 page policy document here – http://renuaireland.com/Policy-Renua-Ireland-web.pdf
Not one single mention of abortion and their approach to that….. which is weird because it was in that issue that the party began, was it not?
No mention of Marriage Equality in those 42 pages either….
Where’s the openness Ted?
Not at all at odds with “There is no greater moral and political issue than securing the future of children.”
Or “RENUA believes a state without strong families is a broken reed. We commit to supporting families of all types in a practical caring fashion.”
How are they defining “matters of conscience”? Seems like a very broad church, if you’ll pardon the pun…
Eddie says hes not running. The website says he is a declared candidate. Clowns of the highest order
https://soundmigration.wordpress.com/2015/03/13/renau-ireland-launched-amidst-eddie-hobbs-confusion/
This smacks so much of the Ultra Conservative movement in the States it’s not funny. Cretin and the Hobgoblin
Ahhh
Look at the lovely colours
That’s the spectrum going down the drain
Haha!
More like “let’s champion human invectiveness”
Re: Declared Candidates
Are there two Jason Fitzgeralds
Jnr and Snr maybe
Or is it the same lad looking to run around a few constituencies. One’s the local AI man so I suppose in vitro stem cell stuff is probably grand with Crikey and the Renuass
And
“Senator Paul Bradford
Paul Bradford is a Senator”
That made me laugh
RENUA? What the hell? Who is advising these people? Have they no imagination? I suspect these people have no soul either. Reminds of the mindset that thought renaming “Royal Mail” to “Insignia” was a “wonderful” idea.
Have they ever worked a day in the real world in their lives? Where is all this ego and sense of self-importance coming from?
Website looks unprofessional and the video is broken. The supergraphic is pixelated. Pull-up banners? Very amateur.
If these people are “the best” Ireland has to offer, I really do fear for this country.
The only party I can vote for in good conscience is Fianna Fail. Which is most unfortunate. Tragically, the only political vision currently in Ireland is:
i) create “the best” homosexual Utopian matriarchy in the world
ii) get productive Germans to keep paying us (magic formula: beal bocht to Brussels + bond auctions)
When will someone put us out of this misery? The best we can hope for is for Britain to take us back.
“i) create “the best” homosexual Utopian matriarchy in the world”
Who is advocating this policy and where do I go to volunteer?!
Madonna on the banknotes, Elton as Queen, LET’S MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
Don’t worry ABM, I’m sure we can petition the Minister for Drag Standards, Eurovision and the Gaeltacht to set aside an island in the west for you and your fellow deeply-deeply-closeted-gay-men-who-hate-gays-for-their-openness-and-freedom-and-women-because-you-feel-forced-to-marry-them-to-maintain-the-charade to have traumatic shame-sex in dark alleys and a good cry and self flagellation after xxx
It sounds like an Irish made treatment for male baldness!
“Rub the lotion on your scalp twice daily for a month and your luscious locks will be Renua-d”
more like ‘it rubs the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again’
This is actually their health care policy.
Yer man from jack and Jill sounds like he does the mash. The monster mash.
Jayzuz that group photo on their website looks like someone opened the arc of the covenant.
The arse of the convent
The arms of the convert.
Lucinda showing good catholic girls how to avoid pregnancy in that first photo.
and if at first, you don’t suck seed…
Who is the blonde girl in the last picture?
