I went to see a production of ‘Da’ here in New York. No glossary provided for the locals. One young teenage American who didn’t get the ghost/flashback concept got VERY grumpy at not being able to understand anything for two hours. Hehe.

Great play though. Myself and my friends were in stitches.

They had a US Glossary for The Commitments as well. Particularly entertaining was the entry for ‘gooters’, as it was an entirely made-up term, and the point of it was that you were supposed to know what it meant without having to be told.

I saw a great production of that play here with yer man in it. Y’know. From Skibbereen. Don Wycherley! I’ve to go to bed now. Thinking of that took a lot out of me.
I didn’t know reefed meant beat up, though.
