I’m getting in touch because I play with a band called Stomptown Brass (an 8 piece New Orleans-style funk brass band from Dublin) and last Saturday night we had a pretty special experience on the streets of Dublin.
We had a gig at Canalaphonic [music festival] on the main stage/barge at 6pm. We then rushed off to another private garden party, but made it back to Canalaphonic just as the last act was finishing. We decided to keep it going and play by the canal, but the security, then the guards, moved us on – much to the dismay of the crowd.
So instead, we start playing “I Feel Like Funkin It Up” as we marched down Camden st/South Richmond st, and ended up with a couple of hundred people following us, singing along, and surrounding us for the next half hour as we played, and held up traffic. The atmosphere was great

has the world gone mad ted
Arseholes by any other name.
Check out Captain Fun here.
Corporal Punishment.
I don’t why but I laughed out loud at this stunning take down of the most demented drunken troll on here
Morons.
Feel better after that?
Pity about the commentary, all the same.

great & there’s a few shaky moments, lol, gonna order 4 star pizza and watch it tonight to see what i missed
I am beginning to regret responding to you in that other thread.
you can talk.. you’re one of the biggest flutes on broadsheet.
Wouldn’t the Internet be a very boring place if everyone had the same views on everything?
“i videoid the hole night”
That sounds worse than the AAA referendum poster.
PS: Canalaphonic in general was a great idea well executed, and excellent fun, from what I experienced.
Congratulations and thanks are due to the organisers and sponsors.
Way to get the Canalaphonic license blocked next year. Morons.
That is in no way true. Weird lie.
I think the poster is implying that if residents (or whoever) were looking to lodge an objection to the festival next year, the video above would provide very good grounds.
This place really has turned into a moanfest.
Congrats.
Good to see the craic brigade are out in force today. These guys were the best thing about Canalaphonic – it’s great to see something different around town and they look like they really enjoy what they’re doing.
I do hope there were some nice tasty spliffs being passed around.
The private party bit though, was that for Smeara-Dubha McDuffleworth’s birthday in Rawnalagh?
It was actually a charity fundraiser for ur mum
Wazzup h8rs.
Your all idiots
Stomptown are the best thing goin in Dublin these days
Did you see how happy everyone was ATM?
Get over ur selves
Oh dear.
Y’see what some people mean when they say they wish that certain people wouldn’t make arguments for the side they agree with?
That is a residential area you morons!
i got stuck in traffic bring my sick puppy to the vet because of this impromptu parade – poor lickle chap.
SUCH morons Omg. Oh my god!
I love Liam and the boys but this has just gone too far. I mean, it’s like a bull in a china shop with these guys now. Who are they to take over a city like that?!
Great tunes, but talk about abuse of power!
Play for that money boys, play for that money!
If anyone has seen a bass drum with Stomptown Ass (cause the BR is kinda faded) rolling around Camden St, could they let me know please? I may have lost it
I think that the way the dublin streets are is class. Who ever thought of havin a band on the road is a genius. I think there should be a band on every road or somethin. Its way better than just cars on them all the time. the more marching bands the more music the more roads.
Is that you Philomena Cunk?
Stooges for Irish Water.
Bread and circus.
